Title: Wind Fantasy Series

dunno, any Taiwanese players here?
or maybe local Asian players?

I loved this game, it is the standard turn by turn walk the blocks sort of RPG, and it is very cool for a game that is played in early 2002 or so.

It is sad that I don't have the game savefiles anymore, I heard from Wind Fantasy SP onwards, saving each save file would give you varied access to The Tower which is something like EXTRA STAGE that goes on and on till 150 levels of non stop battles (saving each 10 stages)

currently I think the newest one is http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86465 (http://www.hongfire.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86465) which is Wind Fantasy XX

Comparing to the now decaying and plain sadly linear RPG movie FF13, I'd say this is game meant for those who are still interested in gaming RPG. I believe it is only available in Japanese or Chinese language, though I heard at least one of the Windows 95 - ME games have been translated already.

Legacy:

Wind Fantasy
Wind Fantasy 2
Wind Fantasy SP
Wind Fantasy 3 (this sucked hard)
Wind Fantasy 4
Wind Fantasy 5 and 5SP
Wind Fantasy XX (http://www.yesasia.com/us/wind-fantasy-xx-double-cross-dvd-version/1011075932-0-0-0-en/info.html)

almost all except 3 if I recall correctly are turn based RPGs. Each is a story connected to a great land where heroes of each generation of the games dwell in... or so I think (could be independent worlds)

normally none of the stories are directly linked.

If I could read Japanese better, I'd be so in. As it stands, I cannot, and RPGs just aren't as good when you can't read wtf is going on. :(

well, if it is turn based, it is almost always save the princess, select options while in battle and win by walking blocks.

I'd say the world simply needs to translate this better.
why does everyone harp Final Fantasy when it is getting worse and not harp on something more... classic?

Final Fantasy became mainstream trash after the sixth one.  :S

You have no idea how much I agree with this.

that is why you should buy this and play it, despite not knowing much about it.

I think I can possibly look around for an English guide list to the stuff in the game controls (such as battle moves etc etc)

That's what I'm more concerned about really. Battle moves, explanations, etc.

Wind Fantasy is somewhat of a decent game, to me, at least.

I've played it in both Japanese and Chinese, and had a lot of fun.

No immediate desire to bone anyone but give me a Japanese version and I'll rage through it.

Sadly, I can only play Japanese games that are 99% katakana.  >_>

Well, looks quite interesting, to say the least. My japanese is crap outside basic katakana, so I'm failing to understand this game. Waiting for the translation then.

Now, for FF13. I kinda like it, linear, yes, but still good, from what I understand. I'm a critical backlash person, so I may end up the one guy who says, "Hmm, yes, this was relevant to my interests."
