>Welp. East is back, so Northeast it is!

>You head northeast, following in the wake of the panicking bats. The corridor proceeds in a mostly straight manner for a hundred yards or so, then inclines upwards sharply.
>After a hundred more yards, it begins to widen until it is a few yards across. When you notice another corridor branching from it, it confirms your suspicions that you've returned to the long chamber. Obvious exits are Southwest, Northwest, and Northeast.
>You think you faintly hear something from the northwest. Could it be those bats flying?

> Yell something and see if anything reacts.
> Inventory

>You yell "Something!"
>Your voice echoes up and down the corridor. You are definitely hearing something from the northwest Passage now, and it is most certainly not bat noises.

Lovely, other voices. We have no melee weapons. It's a shame we didn't know about the gems BEFORE we traded the sword. Course, we wouldn't have the blue one now.

The first hit is the most important

>Draw on both, kick it's ass!

>You draw upon both of the gems, and feel power flow from them into. Familiars fly from your hands, more than you've even been able to call upon for this card before, and soar to the edges of the corridor.
>The thing dashes toward you as bullets start to fill the air. It looks like a huge centipede, dark reddish brown in color and larger than your can comfortably estimate. Huge mandibles extend from a head that lacks eyes, while numerous chitinous cilia waggle frantically on its back.
>Bullets start to rain upon its carapace, but it does not seem particularly bothered by them. Light distorts and you see afterimages of the bullets shifting around, but the creature does not seem to notice, having no eyes to perceive the light with. Then beams of light fire from the familiars, leaving tracks of flames littering the air. The beams sear the monster's carapace, causing it to squeal and stop it charge for a moment. If it gets much closer to you, you may be in trouble. Unfortunately, maintaining the spellcard is diverting most of your focus right now.

>If we can, stop using the Blue Gem in this spellcard, and concentrate on adding fire to it with the Red Gem.

>You draw off the Blue Gem's power. The red gem does not add any more power to it, but it shifts its actions to compensate, firing gouts of flame from the familiars. They are not very long-ranged, unfortunately, and cannot reach where the monster, the Oni Eater, is. But it does seem to be aware of them, and holds back its charge. Instead, it clings tightly to the ceiling, laying down and letting many of the bullets pass over it. Others smack into its carapace, and seem to have no effect. A couple do hit the gaps in its armor, and you see it twitch in response.
>You can get a better look at the thing now that it's stopped moving. It is at least thirty feet long, with a segmented body that has two thick legs emerging from each segment. Its mandibles are like immense swords; you swear that they are secreting some kind of liquid. The hundreds of cilia along its back are waving frantically and some of the longer ones; easily the size of your arm; beginning to glow.

>You glance down, and see that your Crescent Pin seems to be pushing against you with considerable force. You think that the thing shifting in your pocket is the pouch of coins that Eirin gave you. Your pin, in particular, is pushing against you hard enough that it's becoming hard not to step back from the pressure.
