>You accept the canteen and fumble the cap off, pressing it against your lips and tilting back your head shakily. The cool sensation of the water against your parched throat spurs on primal instincts, and you have to restrain yourself from gulping down more than you have breath left in you. As it is, you almost have another coughing fit.

>Taking a quick breath, you squeak out a compliment. The ears in question perk up, and Kyouko smiles faintly, but says "Well, I couldn't hear it from here, either. I just took a little stroll while you were sleeping. I didn't expect you to be awake so soon," she adds, frowning.

>As you try to get a better look at it, the canteen slips from your fingers and clatters onto the ground, bubbling water onto the soil for a moment before Kyouko scoops it up.

>"Oh, we're... making good time!" she says with a smile, brushing dirt off the canteen with one hand.

>"Don't worry!" she says brightly. "I already told you that I'm not going to let you die on me, remember?"
>She hands you back the canteen. "Here you go!"
