> Mayohiga was a small village within the secluded mountains of Gensokyo, parallel to Youkai Mountain, legendary for being filled with youkai. The village of Mayohiga itself was a quiet and peaceful, albeit sparsely populated. It was Sonozaki clan's duty to defend Mayohiga against youkai, which sometimes come into the village to spirit away or eat humans. You are a part of the Sonozaki clan, and most likely the only one left alive.
> Two days ago, you found a conical hat in the forest where you frequently played with your cousins.
> Yesterday was the first day of summer, and you went back into the forest with the hat. While playing there, you discovered the original owner of the hat, a tanuki girl named Kouyoshi who was masquerading as your eldest cousin Sayane. Upon returning home from the forest, you found that the village was in ruins, on fire, and inhabited by monstrous youkai. Aided by Kouyoshi, you were able to get a katana from your house and flee from the village, but not before discovering that the blame lies in the hands of a kitsune, a rare and powerful youkai. You have resolved to get revenge, but there is the issue of finding somewhere to stay and learning how to fight, first.

You and Kouyoshi have travelled to the Bamboo Forest during your excursion of the Human Village. You have come across two youkai, one of which knows of someone who may know a thing or two about the kitsune, and you have decided to go looking for them. You have found yourselves caught up in a rabbit stampede, which you have joined in a return to the Bamboo Forest to stop Mokou from hurting the Rabbit Princess. Upon reaching the source of the explosions, you have found a huge inferno.

You see Kouyoshi and the rest of the rabbits darting around the edges of the flames, shouting to "calm down already" and "the forest is going to burn". You and the other rabbits throw your buckets of water at the fire, and then wheel around to return to the wells. The water you just threw doesn't seem to have calmed the fire down even noticeably...

It feels like forever, and even when your breathing is ragged and your muscles ache from all the running, you keep throwing water on the fire. As the fire finally dies down to manageable levels, Kouyoshi and other rabbits rush in. There's a lot of yelling, and after more buckets of water are thrown, you see two figures being dragged away from each other by force.

She is covering her right arm with her stomach, from which blood is oozing. Her cracked lips are parted in a wild grin, and you think you hear her cackling softly.
> The other is a woman with hair as long as Mokou's but inky black. Her pink and maroon robes are badly torn, and you see one of her knees bent at an odd angle. Her neck has deep burn marks in it, and her bangs are matted to her forehead and face, which are slick with blood. She wheezes, and about five more rabbits rush to her side, among them the carrot rabbit. Kouyoshi is busy stamping out nearby flames.

All right, tone it down: that's making Meira quite a bit more annoying than she needs to be, and the arm waving that you want her to do is getting superfluous and irritating (timing is key, don't use it like a machine gun). That, and you really can't extend the "h" sound, unless you want to cough up a lung.

All three are dressed very nicely in elaborate dresses, but what strikes you the most is that they all have iridescent wings on their backs, each a different style and quivering slightly when they laugh. Kouyoshi blinks.

They're in the trees, on the grass, peeking out of the bushes, and even hovering in the air. The silence you were experiencing just a few minutes earlier has been replaced by a clamour.
> There are even a few hugging on to Kouyoshi's tail. Kouyoshi is doing her best to keep a straight face, but by the way her ears are twitching you can tell she isn't too thrilled.

At the front of the classroom, near the door, is a wide chalkboard taking up a good portion of the wall it hangs on. Above it are rows of faded pieces of paper with calligraphy painted onto them. In front of that is a podium.
