PS1/GBA/GC are retro now? All the time I've played SSBM with my roommates, appreciating the game for it's gameplay value rather than nostalgia factor, was a lie? NOOOOOOO

(oh btw, super metroid is probably my favorite snes game right now, and earthbound is pretty cool too)

PS1/GBA/GC are hardly retro, dude. Older? Yes. Retro? Nah.

I'm gonna have to go with the good old early Final Fantasy games (NES and SNES, I s'pose), Kid Icarus, Legend of Zelda, and Dragon Quest. :3

I think you could call the PSX a retro console now.
After all, about 10 years have passed since the last good PSX game was released.

My video game experience began with the Atari 2600 and its library of wonderful games, such as Warlords, Combat, Adventure, Missile Command and Pitfall.

But for long car rides or the school bus, nothing beat this baby right here:

Fit very nicely inside a binder's pencil case, too.

Both Jazz Jackrabbit games (never played the GBA game), the GBC Zeldas, Kirby 64, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie...Those are the super-old ones. The slightly older ones would be both Golden Sun games, FFTA, Skies of Arcadia, Ratchet and Clank...I have quite a few PS2 RPGs. :P I haven't beaten most of them yet, though.

How "retro" something is depends on a person's point of view, and how old they are when they first picked up that game.I played with an Atari 2600 and Commodore 64/Vic 20 back in the day, but it wasn't until the N64 and GBC came out that I got into more serious gaming, so I didn't experience that "golden era" of the Turbografix, Neo Geo, SNES or Genesis. My best memories came from the PC and the more recent consoles (the PS2, Gamecube and similar).

Whoa, that's Magic Jewelry, I used to play it on my old famiclone.
I just played it again for nostalgia's sake, I forgot that the music was actually pretty good.

Heiankyo Alien
The Pokemon Trading Card Game that was for either GB or GBC, I can't remember

And I'll mention it here because apparently Gamecube counts and this game needs more attention: Amazing Island

GBC. Also, YES.

Old favorites of mine include Tetris Blast, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, and E.V.O., and I have some vague memories of Yoshi's Cookie from before I started school. If the N64 counts, I can also add Paper Mario and Banjo-Kazooie to the list.

Spoiler:
I still can't 100% Rusty Bucket Bay in Banjo-Kazooie without the infinite air cheat. =/

The first Mario Party was so much fun.

And at the local arcade: Spy Hunter.

I got my aunt playing Magic Jewelry. She's quite a fast learner I must say. Surprisingly good reflexes for someone who hasn't played video games since she was a kid. Also:

My new high score. COME AT ME BRO.

Methinks I'll open up Kega Fusion for some badnik-beating.  Oh, what about the Phantasy Star series (incl. PS1 on the SMS), and Gunstar Heroes?

No love for good old Point-and-Click-Adventures?
I remember playing Toonstruck, a point and clicker where Christopher Lloyd was trapped in a world of his own cartoon creations, and had to help save the land from some guy named Count Nefarious or something like that. It was fun, but the text was very hard to read for some reason. XP

DUUUUDEE. Warlords and combat were my 2 fave atari games too!!! Maybe Beserk too, I don't remember.

Wasn't a big fan of missile command and Pitfall though. I loved plaque attack though.

Not sure if it's considered retro or not. But SNES is the ultimate gaming system IMO.
PS2, while hardly retro, is probably the closest thing to a system that gives it a run for its money in terms of library of quality games though IMO.
