Hey y'all, guess what! I'm really late so all the deadlines are pushed back a week!
Welcome back everyone! For those who were not around for the festivities last year (or the year before (or the year before)), this is your basic Secret Santa. Those participating will receive the name of another poster and be tasked with sending them a present this holiday season. Everyone loves surprises!
Want to participate? PM me (Rin Kagamine) the following information with the subject "CPSS IN!" by 11/19/2012:
Full name:
Address:
Email:
Are you willing to ship international? Yes/No (US/Canada residents only)
Willing to receive NSFW presents? Yes/No/Please
*Phone number(only needed if sending international)
**(If you ship internationally then you will need to give your phone number. The US Post Office has new requirements for international shipping and one of them is that a phone number is required. Feel free to make one up but don?t cry to me when your package doesn?t arrive/isn?t delivered.)
(Optional) T-shirt size
(Optional) 5 things you like (if you're afraid no one knows what you like (NO GUARANTEE you'll get anything from that list))
I stole it from sows shut up
Monday, November 19th is the deadline to sign-up. Partners will be assigned on Tuesday the 20th so no late sign-ups!
Other important dates to note (Dates are for US Eastern Standard Time, i.e. GMT-5. Adjust for your country accordingly):
11/19/2012 - Deadline to sign up
11/20/2012 - Partners assigned
12/14/2012 - Last date to ship USPS First Class mail
12/17/2012 - Last date to ship all packages (Slight grace period offered for "something came up")
12/25/2012 - Open your gift and post what you got
USPS has been shipping things pretty quickly these past few years, so shipping dates have been relaxed a little. If you're shipping internationally please don't procrastinate though.
Rules:
1. Tracking is required!
2. When you ship your package, PM me (Rin Kagamine) with the topic "Package shipped" and provide the tracking number.
3. If sending USPS international then the customs number is the tracking number
4. If you don't send a present you will be BANNED!
FAQ:
Q: I want to send someone food! Can I send food?
A: Probably. You MUST check with the customs laws surrounding shipment of foodstuffs for both your home country and the destination country before shipping. Your package is likely to be destroyed rather than returned, so be sure and check.

First thread is here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,3492.html), second thread is here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,7562.html), and last year's thread is here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,11228.0.html).
I sure am glad there's a new Die Hard coming out soon so I have a thread title for next year
Also, I'm disappointed with the current board name because now my acronym is horribly antiquated D:
-
Yay, about time we did this again!
Might be joining, though considering my existing plans for TF2 and MC servers' Christmas events that is also uncertain.
Also not sending synths this time :V
-
Fucking finalllyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
e: I might have adress issues this time, I may or may not be about to move, we'll see. Will keep posted.
-
There goes the money I've been saving.
;_;
-
Seriously, everyone should do this; we all have a blast every year. It's pretty much the only time a package from a stranger on the internet shows up at your house and it's OK!
-
In.
Also, stickied.
-
Also not sending synths this time :V
Still got that. :V
Will think about this again for this year. Not sure.
-
In.
Also, stickied.
Rad! But I usually leave it I stickied for a while since I think it gets more views like that.
-
That makes sense. Why, we even have a sticky demonstrating this very point.
-
Self-fulfilling prophecy
-
In it to win it!
-
HEY VIC
HEY VIC
WHY ISN'T YOUR NAME ON THE PARTICIPANTS LIST YET
-
>Gee Nobu, what's Vic doing with CPSS?
>I dunno, I'll ask him!
>CPSS thread two days later
HMMMMM
-
HMMMMM
What's funny too is I came in here looking for Vic to PM him about it right after he made the thread
Was talking to ventopasu about it earlier so
-
>Gee Nobu, what's Vic doing with CPSS?
>I dunno, I'll ask him!
>CPSS thread two days later
HMMMMM
Nobu never talked to me about it actually, only triangles and Mr Bob.
-
I see it's that time of year again!
And for the 3rd year in a row, I'm so in!
Looking forward to all the gifts, and surprises, that this year shall bring. XD
-
This could be fun. ~
Kanjou has been talking through his past few years taking part in these secret santas here, so since this will be our first Christmas together, why not. I'll take part too ^^
-
Still got that. :V
Hehehe. :V
I'm in again! there goes whatever money I was trying to save for Magfest
-
Sure, I'll participate again! ...Hopefully my recipient this time won't get banned like last year's (thankfully, they still got my gift anyway). :V
-
Just submitted my entry.
Looking forward to this ^w^
-
Got kicked from temp job number 6 and I'm still in it! To all participants, please try to avoid being vague in order to not piss off your Santa buddy.
-
Oh what the hell, I'll give it a shot. Hopefully I'll not be too broke.
Do we get a broke clause?
-
I'm usually pretty broke, but I've managed to give good gifts (and even mailed one internationally). I think you'll be okay!
Of course, I'm putting myself in this year as well~
-
I am in. expect great gifts this year since the time is after AFA Singapore.
-
Can I just be an unconfirmed entry for now? Gotta work out a few things first and then I'll confirm my entry.
-
>Gee Nobu, what's Vic doing with CPSS?

Reference (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,13734.msg909096.html#msg909096). Also, triangles has been a good girl this year; what will Cirno Santa get her?
-
If we're going by Die Hard titles, shouldn't this be A Good Day to Santa Hard?
-
If we're going by Die Hard titles, shouldn't this be A Good Day to Santa Hard?
No, that's the 5th movie that's not out yet (though I saw them filming it in Budapest this summer)
"Yippee-ki-yay motherbaka!"
-
Confirming so hard
Won't make the same mistake as last year.
Even if Dormio isn't in here I still expect a present for all I sent him.
You too Amra.
Will be sending out extra presents to those whose addresses I have who are not my partners, ie Dorakyura.
-
This has taken off quickly, we've already got 12 people who have messaged me to sign up #woah #wow
If you don't see your name in the updated first post, it's because you haven't actually PMd me your sign-up information! Get on that!!
-
Whoever is my partner prepare for the 1% gifting like what I sent to Kanjou.
-
PM sent!
-
In.
This is gonna be so sweet to have you in for srs, but I need your info!
Oh what the hell, I'll give it a shot. Hopefully I'll not be too broke.
Do we get a broke clause?
There's no real guideline for how much to spend, so don't let a lack of funds deter you. We're all about the spirit of giving and unity that the holiday season brings about. If anyone is more concerned with getting an expensive gift than anything then this probably isn't for you.
Can I just be an unconfirmed entry for now? Gotta work out a few things first and then I'll confirm my entry.
Sure, I have plenty of people who say they're in and haven't actually put themselves in :V
Official theme song of this thread (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTyw6cq86kY)
-
Despite not being hip and with it on Die Hard title parodying I'm in.
FROM JERSEY WITH LOVE
-
Also, triangles has been a good girl this year; what will Cirno Santa get her?
If past secret santas are any indicator, a scarf :V :V :V
If you don't see your name in the updated first post, it's because you haven't actually PMd me your sign-up information! Get on that!!
THAT'S FUNNY I STILL DON'T SEE YOUR NAME ON THERE
Also for people concerned about not having a lot of $$$$$, what Vic said. I for one usually don't "spend" a lot of money on what I give, rather I do homemade crafts and I'd like to believe that's just as welcome but I do actually have some sort of competence with needles so that helps
. Also some of my favorite things I've seen received are otherwise gag gifts, like the toy race car packed with marshmallows.
-
THAT'S FUNNY I STILL DON'T SEE YOUR NAME ON THERE
NO ONE CAN GET ME WHAT I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS! (Rin Kagamine (a jacket like what Rin wears in her Reactor outfit (which would be prohibitively expensive (oh god parentheses))))
-
If past secret santas are any indicator, a scarf :V :V :V
If I get you or MJP I'm sending you as large of a tree as I can find
-
Hey I'll have you know the giant tree blocking our street was gone as of yesterday evening!
Now the one in the backyard on the other hand...
-
Hey I'll have you know the giant tree blocking our street was gone as of yesterday evening!
Now the one in the backyard on the other hand...
I betcha your yard is going to look nekkid after all that stuff is removed. Mine back home doesn't look nearly the same since half of the trees were wiped out in the heavy snow we got early last year.
-
sending people things overseas is fun o>o
-
I'm heavily debating this. I really do want to join in because CHRISTMAS and KINDNESS, two of my more favorite things. However, I also like MONEY and FOOD. Two of my more needed things.
I'm very torn so I'm going to take a few days before deciding.
-
If I get you or MJP I'm sending you as large of a tree as I can find
As a preemptive measure, whoever I get will get an AA membership guide in addition to their stuff :V

You got my updated address PM, right Rin?
-
You got my updated address PM, right Rin?
Yes.
First post updated, y'all are quick
-
Hooray! We're already got to be closing in on previous years totals after just 24 hours.
-
NO ONE CAN GET ME WHAT I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS! (Rin Kagamine (a jacket like what Rin wears in her Reactor outfit (which would be prohibitively expensive (oh god parentheses))))
you mean you don't actually wanna wear THE REACTOR outfit? damn it.
-
This is gonna be so sweet to have you in for srs, but I need your info!
Whoops, accidentally sent it via email from my apparently defunct Yahoo account. Sent it again via PM.
-
you mean you don't actually wanna wear THE REACTOR outfit? damn it.
No, I don't want to be Rin, I just want to wrap her around my body~ Also, it's a really killer jacket.
-
:ohdear:
-
dunno if any cosplay shop even sells that on taobao...
-
Whoever I get will get something made by myself, since I do have my craft skills from my Fursuit work, and of course artwork too. :V
-
Don't worry about looking, it's a custom thing I'm going to have to commission since it will be for daily wear, not cosplay. We're talking a nylon shell jacket or possibly leather.
-
I want a Terry Bogard jacket. Not for this though; I imagine that even a mockup would cost a lot!
It's nice to see so many people coming out! With a such a large pool, it'll be more fun to guess whose present you're getting!
-
It's on like Meiling Hong.
-
VIC NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR RIN JACKET
PUT YOUR NAME ON THE LIST ANYWAYS
Also I'll send my application as soon as I sort the adress thing, which will be tomorrow. So tomorrow.
-
VIC NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR RIN JACKET
MLIV My Life Is Vocaloid
-
Yay! I really want to do this cuz it's been cute seeing Jana get stuff the past 2 years and IT MADE ME JELLY. D:<
I have to do the Secret Santa among my friends and one for my sorority too (as well as... you know getting people in my family gifts), so I might just opt out of international shipping to ease the costs a bit.
Would it be asshole-ish to just link a wish list? I mean most of the stuff on it is semi pricey (games and stuff) so more than anything it'd be along the lines of suggestions of stuff I like... meh I guess I could just as easily list interest.
-
I'd totally join but I have no idea what I would give. I'm horrible at gift giving.
-
yo put my name on da list b
-
MLIV My Life Is Vocaloid
Look at this great existence... it is beautiful. I believe you shall now be called the Boddhisattva of Rin Kagamine. Praise this awakened being!
hey Vic, sent in the PM is that ok?
-
If past secret santas are any indicator, a scarf.
Hehe. I actually spent a number of hours trying to thread a nineball symbol into that scarf, but the material was too loose and wouldn't hold the shape properly + time constraints.
-
In addition to the wishlist I included with my post, my current PSP kind of died on me (or at least it won't charge up again) and this copy of Ys 7 won't beat itself (WINK WINK).
-
I'm in. But just to clarify something this time around, are we supposed to let know who we are in the gift, or leave for the receiver to try to guess and only reveal later in the thread?
-
I'm in. But just to clarify something this time around, are we supposed to let know who we are in the gift, or leave for the receiver to try to guess and only reveal later in the thread?
It's up to you but generally it's best if you try to keep it a secret, since it's fun to guess!
-
Not sure if I'll join in. If we get an address sorted out in time then maybe.
-
yo put my name on da list b
oh alright, i can't say no to you~
hey Vic, sent in the PM is that ok?
NO IT'S NOT OK WHY DID YOU DO THIS!?
I'm in. But just to clarify something this time around, are we supposed to let know who we are in the gift, or leave for the receiver to try to guess and only reveal later in the thread?
It's better to just let them guess.
Not sure if I'll join in. If we get an address sorted out in time then maybe.
Sure are a lot of y'all moving in the middle of winter.
A lot of y'all are using your 5 interests section as a wish list. Keep in mind that that's not the purpose of that section; it's to let people who don't really know who you are know what you like so they can hopefully find a somewhat suitable gift. You're not guaranteed to get anything you ask for, so just remember that.

Holy balls
We're gonna break records this year.

I swear if I am partnered with AF and he sends me AFASG stuff I will throw the cross across the border

You have a serious issue with keeping secrets, don't you :derp:
-

don't you want my (slightly used) Kyubey towel?

I just left it blank this year. I like surprise gifts!
-
don't you want my (slightly used) Kyubey towel?
pls dont send me vocaloid stuff too
:v
-
oh no I think it's too late for me to buy something to ship now =/
Unless I can package one of the old things lying around my room, but I don't think the guy who gets it might appreciate it
-

Oh good! I'm sure I'll get you this year. I plan to send you a rabid ferret, a heavily used loofa, and some jam.
-

You can just use the first one as the latter two if you're feeling really frugal.

ewwwwwww
relax, the magical properties that turn you into a magical girl still lingers.

The magical property is a fungus

I'm in, but don't expect anything too fancy from me.
OTL
-
The magical property is a fungus
with futa side-effects after magicalgirlmetamorphization amirite?
Oh one more thing, I don't send foodstuffs due to law prohibitions. customs seem to think every food that goes out is either bird nest or rare animal parts. pls dont send me vocaloid stuff too
:v
SHHH you are not supposed to mention I was gonna- oh too late.
> implying I have vocaloid stuffs to give rather than KEEP MY WAIFU with me at all times.
what do you want Venappo? Kuroko no Basket gay porn drawn by me? gyahahaha!

I think I can safely say, if you send her Kurobasugey drawings she will cry with sadness
-
Since I didn't get to do it last year due to lacking funds, I'm happy I can say I'm in too! Now let's see who I get...not that I know anyone here well enough to automatically know what to try to do, but that's part of the fun!
-
Whoever gets a present from me is going to know it's from me, by virtue of me being the Icelandic Touhou Community?.
-
You know I wonder if we've got enough momentum to end signups like on Sunday/Monday to give the international crew some more lead time for shopping and shipping? It'd also open up the ridiculous Black Friday sales as well for getting all sorts of things dirt cheap, unless you were going to pass out the info like Thursday night.
-
We've had enough sign-ups now that I probably could end it early, but I'd like to have them open for at least a week.
Who would not be OK with sign-ups ending on Monday?
-

I'd very much like to have more time available to prepare my gifts.
-
I think keeping it open until the end of the weekend is probably fine.
-
Wow, there're...27 people now? Seems like it'll be pretty interesting. So, what's the current record turnout for this? Is 2012 the one with most signups, or is there a year where more showed up?
-
I didn't go and check, but I think we're already past the record. Last year was like 22-24 people and each year prior was a bit less I think?
And yeah, I think end of the weekend, so Sunday would be a good time that would have been a full week. Change the thread topic to motivate any slowpokes?
-
13 the first year, 20 the second, 24 last year and currently at 29.
Fun fact: Kilga was a hater on the idea the first year (so was Edible but he's seen the light)
-
Might it be possible to close in early and allow for a late signees mechanism?
-
Let's bet on 40 this year
-
After reading the old threads this is, no question, the thing I'm the most excited about this holiday season! So many ideas for gifts...

Mang I'm glad you got ideas, because I ain't got shit.

I never have any bloody ideas until the very moment I decide to buy the present. Then I browse all the weaboo sites and the geek sites etc. until something clicks and I find what I want to gift

Any ideas for sites to check out, so others can take advantage if they want/need to as well?

Toranoana (http://www.toranoana.jp/), Amiami (http://www.amiami.com/), W-canvas (http://www.w-canvas.com/), Thinkgeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com), Deal extreme (http://www.dealextreme.com), etc
Of the 3 weaboo ones only Amiami ships international, but Forza's there to help if you need :3
-
Haha what a nice tradition you got here guys : )
Since Im kinda new here it would be great to start with something like this BUT.....
1: I really had bad experiences sending international packages :/
2: My Parents are really old fashioned, in the way they still think everyone you meet on the internet is a pedophile or a drug dealer, so if im not the one who first recieves the package = big trouble :/
3: Im really but REALLY shy when dealing with presents, to the point that I fear if I dont find something similar to what "X person" wanted I would just back off and dont send anything :/
So yeah... anyway, I really loved this kind of "event" for the forum so good luck finding the perfect presents, everyone!
Keep it up since next year I would gladly join this :V (yay for freedom)
EDIT: \/ Because the logic is too hard for us to understand!!!11one!
-
You're 18. Why would pedophiles be a problem? :V
-
Don't feel like you have to send weeaboo presents either though! I've sent a book and chocolate as presents before.
-
In. Hope y'alls body is ready
-
if you are in Asia, and you read Chinese... nothing beats www.Taobao.com at this moment,
they are basically the depositry of everything and anything, gifts or whatever, although like all things craiglist-y and ebay-ish China has to over authenticity may mean a few extra searches, carefully. You're 18. Why would pedophiles be a problem? :V
Maybe 21 is a year of consent over there lol.
Don't feel like you have to send weeaboo presents either though! I've sent a book and chocolate as presents before.
exactly! It is the thought that counts~
-
In. Hope y'alls body is ready
Best prepare for some awesome (and NSFW) drawings...
That is, for those who want NSFW stuff~ :V
-
After reading the old threads this is, no question, the thing I the most excited about this holiday season! So many idea for gifts...
Mang I'm glad you got ideas, because I ain't got shit.
Note to self: If I get Purvis, I should send him some fecal matter because he doesn't have any. Meanwhile, I shouldn't give Zirene any ideas.
-
Too late now :V
Although now with more people joining, it may not be immediately obvious who MJP and I send to as soon as they see the box!
-
Whoever gets me as a Santa is going to receive something genuinely and wholly Icelandic. Hope you like fermented shark! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xhfJRdwHnU&t=2m)

When I got N-Forza, I sent him chocolate that I was 90% sure they didn't have in japan, and Vic sent me honey from his home state that year as well. Local food gifts are amazing!

C'mon man, don't be cruel.

Not rotten shark, it's utterly vile.
-
Yeah, Vic has tried rotten shark when he came to visit last July. In fairness, it was served to him at room temperature, which ensures that the stuff really barks. Eaten frozen, it's not so bad.
-
are you me?
stop thinking like me, you make me feel inferior
I could be you. I could be that trap you always dreamed of~ :3
In other news, who wants a jaw of strawberry jam? :V

Come on guys be creative

one of the times where im sad cause my country doesnt have anythign special
You're in Singapore. Send a young bamboo rod soaked in water, along with instructions for caning.
-
ITT this year everyone gives food
Mailing disco fries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheese_fries) and rippers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutt%27s_Hut)?
Challenge accepted.
I hate both of these oh god please don't kick me out of my state :ohdear:
-
So help me god triangles if you don't like poutine >:(
-
My stomach is weak like a baby squirrel, anything that's really greasy/cheesey/fried makes me sick :(
Also not getting heart attacks I like that.
Also also I'll have you know that disco fries != poutine, but I'd need MJP to come and explain the finer details since he actually likes them.
-
The only difference as far as I can tell is that poutine has gravy, which makes it even better!
-
ITT this year everyone gives food
If this is the case, some lucky dog's getting LAWBSTUH. Cranberry goods are also on the table.
-
Also not getting heart attacks I like that.
Not in my America.
-
Real poutine uses curds; not cheese, and is smothered in beef gravy.
Disco fries - or as my people called them, cheese fries - are usually slathered in some processed Velveeta-like stuff. But I'm sure what kind of cheese is used and what other condiments might be tossed on them varies from region to region.
-
"Disco fries" here I suppose = french fries + green chile sauce (which is cream soup (usually cream of mushroom) and green chile mixed together) + cheese(s), and I'm talking shredded "fiesta" blend cheese, not laughable velveeta. Delicious, right? :D :3
-
Oh god, I am le poor and international shiping costs will hurt my wallet...
Yeah, I'll have to turn this one down. Rats :<
-
If this is the case, some lucky dog's getting LAWBSTUH. Cranberry goods are also on the table.
I meant more "guys please let's not send just food", but I guess that backfired :derp:
Whoever gets me: you're not getting food
-

so that's what singapore is famous for huh..........

Just decline international shipping, that's what I'm doing
Also I'm going to send some pen sketches of Madoka being tentacle raped, wrapped around a prosciutto
-
Just decline international shipping, that's what I'm doing
He's from Great Britain <_<

Hehehe. Don't give Zirene any ideas, who knows what he might do...
??? I can't find my Santa hat! I hope I didn't leave it at Otakon since I've had that thing for almost 10 years (I've washed it), it was a good Mokou hat though.

NO no no. I meant I will not send you an idea as a gift.

Yea I know I just read it that way the first time and thought it was funny. :)

I don't like sending Japanese snacks and stuff because it's REALLY cliche, but I might make an exception this year and throw in some Toppo. It's about 50 times better than Pocky.

Toppo? Never heard of it. Is it effectively the same thing as Pocky but better, or just a different snack you like more?

Alright I'm in. I'll see what I can whip up for the receiver of my gift.

(such as method of cutting and brewing and etc etc) I could send you my favorite type of instant noodles... and if you follow what I write as a recipe this shit will taste great. (better than CUP NOODLES ever will that is)

Recipe books, then? It's not TECHNICALLY food(though to be fair you canb eat one probably)...
(I kid. Honestly I won't know what to send til I get my partner so I can do some stalki-er, research.)

Don't send food
Too many people sending food
Right! If you truly wish to send something associated with where you're from, there are many options that may not be immediately obvious. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGRrOEbY3pI)
-
Sadly, one cannot mail Neohioan despair and unemployment as a gift. At least not without being an employer or creditor.
-
Don't decide on sending food yet, you need to check on the customs rules about sending food for your county and also the country of your partner.
We were thinking about having a cookie exchange in February btw if there's interest :V

It's fine so long as there's an actual not-food gift, right?

Alright, this looks really intresting and nice (if not even awesome!).
You can count me in.

Does coffee count as food?
-
I'll be out of town over Christmas. Fear not, I'll still send out my gift, but I won't be opening mine till after New Year's.
-
Does coffee count as food?
A good bag of coffee is probably better than most food because it isn't going to go bad and you get a lot more out of it.
Probably wasted if the recipient doesn't like coffee though :v
Also, I would totally enter a cookie exchange, granted that canada post doesn't rape my ass with the shipping stick from the package weight.

After finally thinking of a good present idea, I'm in.

Are signups ending early still? The topic/1st post never got changed if so :V

lol sup man. you still go to club?
-
First post updated. 33 so far holy hell
FAQ also updated
Q: I want to send someone food! Can I send food?
A: Probably. You MUST check with the customs laws surrounding shipment of foodstuffs for both your home country and the destination country before shipping. Your package is likely to be destroyed rather than returned, so be sure and check.
-
lol sup man. you still go to club?
I'm at the back wall every meeting. Are you there and I just never see you?
-
Just don't send food to Asian countries like Singapore. seriously. every food is almost certainly lost because A - Customs think it is bird nest or illegal food trade. They don't check but if you declare as food it will be just kept. B - they think it is drugs. Half the time it is opened and they just leave it in one corner and it will never arrive.
(with Malaysia I know, my mother mail order vitamins 3 bottles and only 1 arrived, apparently the other two, despite checked, were 'kept for reference' I dunno lol)

Yeah. I skipped this week but I'm usually in the middle playing Project Diva the entire time.

How are people paired up? I realized this could be turned into a very interesting problem since the definition of international shipping is dependent on a person's location and there are groups of people for which a Secret Santa configuration do not exist. For example, a lone person in a country who refuses to ship internationally will not be able to send a gift to anyone. If Vic is going to be a nice guy, he will also minimize the need for international shipping.
Yeah know what, over the course of writing this post I think I figured it all out. There's one condition under which a group can't be made, and the number of people who have to ship international has a lower bound of the number of different countries. The upper bound of people who have to ship international is a little more interesting. Even better, how would Vic pick pairs to minimize the total shipping cost even within countries?

Are you willing to ship international? Yes/No (US/Canada residents only)
:V
-
That doesn't mean that if 2 people live in the same country that Vic can't spare one of them the cost of international shipping.
Also, if it turns out that the only person living in the US chooses No, Vic is screwed, and I picked No so who knows, Vic might be screwed.

I use a very advanced and sophisticated method to match up partners actually! I like to call it "Drawing from a hat." I used an orange SPYDER beanie the first year, an Italy national team beanie for the second year and a houndstooth porkpie hat (ROLL TIDE!) the third year. This year I plan on using my Ran hat. I write down everyone's name and 3 letter country code (USA, GBR, JPN, ESP, etc) on a sheet of paper and cut them up. In order to insure that those not wishing to ship internationally (meaning outside of the US) don't have to, I fill the hat with all the American participants first and draw a partner for each name on the list. After those have all been paired I add in all of the international participants and continue pairing off. Along the way I ensure that no one sends to the same partner as last year. The positions can be swapped though: the first year N-Forza shipped to MJP while MJP shipped to N-Forza the second year.
Far as international shipping is concerned: the userbase of this forum is incredibly international but predominately American. Therefore, I let those living in the US decide if they would like to ship internationally or not. Those living in other countries are not offered this option because we've never had another country with more than 1 participant except Japan. This marks the first year of multiple participants in several countries. Of the 36 people signed up 22 of them are from the USA, so there is a bit of country bias, but no other country fields enough participants to make "no international shipping" viable.
I do nothing to minimize shipping costs or distances. The hat has no bias towards distance and neither should your generous heart!
That doesn't mean that if 2 people live in the same country that Vic can't spare one of them the cost of international shipping.
Also, if it turns out that the only person living in the US chooses No, Vic is screwed, and I picked No so who knows, Vic might be screwed.
In this case I PM the other person and tell them that they have to be able to ship internationally, otherwise it's not feasible for them to participate.
Indeed he isn't! I imagine at least 1/3rd to 1/2 the people on here are probably from the US, myself included.
Nearly 2/3 usually.

With that all of the PMs have been sent. Please message me if you have any questions for your partner. Do NOT contact them directly (that would spoil the surprise!)
Now comes phase 2: sending gifts.
ALL GIFTS must have tracking numbers. If you are gifting a game through Steam, don't gift it until the 24th or 25th. Early gifting is frowned on.
Christmas is a busy shipping time, especially in the USA. If you wait too long you can easily ship something too late to arrive in time for Christmas, so don't delay!

Don't sweat international shipping, guys. It's a few bucks more, and you might be making someone happy who lives on a desolate rock in the middle of the north Atlantic. Or you know, in a civilized country.

Super excited about my partner. Time to get shopping!

Ooh? This is most pleasant, I happen to have stock of what is requested by my CPSS partner... and some rare item too, just that... I sorta wanna keep them even if I don't use them... hmm.. dillemma...

Red - stalk their posts! Truly the spirit of the season :V :V
ALL GIFTS must have tracking numbers.
If you send via USPS International mail (I found this to be the cheapest for small/lightweight packages) tracking is not "officially" available. Rather, you can use the customs declaration number to track, but it's not as in-depth as other methods. So don't be like me last year and panic when the clerk tells you there's no tracking option unless you want to double/triple the shipping costs for express mail.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I do believe I gots a nice present in mind! I need to talk to some people.

If you aren't sure of what the person likes, make use of Vic and ask. Or ask other people who know them.

Do you think a preference on Touhous might have been a useful piece of information to include in the application?

Some people have hung around long enough that what Touhous they like is already common knowledge or they've shifted their interests.

I know I was incredibly vague in the PM I sent to Vic, so I'll just list a few things I like here: coffee, League of Legends, Metroid, Dark Souls, and jubeat.
The reason I didn't put them in the original message is because I didn't want the giver to feel like they had to get me something related to an item on the list.

Well now, let the research begin~! Good luck finding/making/summoning-with-dark-contracts gifts everyone!

By the contrary I think I might have been too specific in my PM. :V However same guideline about not being limited to just the list applies.
Aaaagh, having difficulty deciding what to get already, hehe.

Explain this in more details for me? I will be definitely using the USPS because fuck the corporates (also a post office in town nearby), and I have so rarely ship things I don't know how this works.
-
When you fill out the customs form, there's a 13 digit number on there (you'll get a carbon copy and it should also be on the receipt I think) I was able to pop that onto the usps.com webpage just like a regular tracking number. Depending on where you send it, it might not update once it leaves the US the internet tells me.
The clerk at the window helped me out because I was all HALP HOW I SEND PACKAGE?, went over shipping options and made sure I didn't bungle anything up on the form.
-

What I understand of Brazil's customs desk is this:
If they want what's in the package, they will take it and there is literally nothing you can do about it. So make the box look as uninteresting as possible.
-
And fill out the "contents" part of the custom's ticket with "old Good Housekeeping magazines, used toilet brushes".
-
Pretty much.
-
Already started ordering stuff for this. :V
Also, since mum is taking me and Kanjou to a Charity Christmas Fair on Saturday, I'll be keeping an eye out for stuff there that would make good gifts.
I got so many awesome things from there last year, and most of the gifts were under ?5 each!

Damn I had no idea Brazil was so strict. Is it because of all the drugs coming from surrounding countries?
Time to start shopping!

but admittedly the year I got you was the cheapest of the postage I ever paid. MJP however... costs a hefty RM70 to send that pack of stuff.
-
My postage this year will be hella expensive. But it's well worth it because of who I'm sending to.
-
Having done some research, I think I can do something with relative cheapness for my person and still have it not be complete shit. This should go reasonably!
-

What? Drugs don't go through customs in any country :V
The system is strict because the government is retarded, all there's to it

I have a question. I've never ordered from Amiami.com before and I plan on ordering some stuff for my partner and myself. I noticed it said they only take payments of JPY and that any other currency will be rejected. I can pay either Paypal or a credit card. However, do I need to do anything else to make sure it's paying in JPY?
-
Paypal will convert it for you (at a pretty bad rate :V)
-
Pay directly with the card, credit card companies usually keep a pretty decent conversion rate.
e: Also no you don't have to do anything, if your card is international(is any card -not- international these days?) it'll do everything for you
-
Remember when the exchange rate was 115 yen to the buck and not 75?

Visa Electron and MC Electron are not international to be fair, they work for all machines, but not international by definition, consult your local bank before spending. The Electron/Visa Wave, MC Touch or whatever it is that used (with 'for electronic use only' on the card edge) in East Asian countries tend to get rejected fairly often. It is a random thing as our systems tend to register Electron cards / WAVE cards as bankcards, which are local ATM machine cards. You will also get a notification of proceed, which will slow your order down by about 1 week.
(trust me, I work in a hotel, we have plenty of frustrated Europeans and their fancy new cards being stuck)

AFAIK we have none of those cards in America, guess we're still the best :smug:
-
Sounds good. It looks like Discover is going to be more likely to work than Visa. Thanks for the advice guys.
-
err... what I am saying is Visa (standard bank issue bank cards) will work more than those fancy smancy *tap and spend* things you see people carry around. those are the Visa Electron and MC Touch. in essence, any Visa (platinum, silver, standard, gold, or plastic will work as long as it is Visa. AFAIK I also recall AmiAmi does not support Unionpay or Diners Club)
-
Visa Electron are debit cards, not credit. I have both.

From the sound of it, people are just ordering things and having them shipped directly to the person they're getting a gift for. Honestly, I don't see how that's a huge issue beyond the fact that it might be less clear to the receiver that this random package from a store is their present.
-
But that's... pretty much it, really. Or sending from their own places if they wish to. NegaZero apparently fucked that up somehow, though :V

So rather than sending them in multiple packages, I'd rather send it in one. Plus I can't write a nice letter or anything if I don't send it myself.
So yeah, an "error" that would've happened anyway.

What, you bought and sent a bunch of stuff separately? Other than cringing at how much you probably paid in shipping, there's no problem there lol, as long as things get there in time :V

Something akin to that. The person I have wanted something(s) that are not easy to come buy, which surprised me. No site had anything too big, though, so I had to settle with a few small gifts. I figured I'd just have them shipped to me, then send it to them so they won't get 2-3 random packages. Money's a non-issue right now, so I'm not worried about the shipping costs.
-
To clear this up, you have multiple items sent to you, which you are going to package and send to someone?
You're actually doing it right.
-
Pretty much. Sending them separetely wouldn't be wrong either, I guess, as long as things arrive on time. Would just confuse the hell out of the partner.

So far I think i have spent ?10 roughly on materials for making my gifts for my SS.
I much prefer to create stuff than just buy things (plus money is a bit tight right now)
It means I can make the gifts a lot more personalized.

You're getting rats? *squee*
I'm a bit of a walking rat encyclopedia so if you need any advice, feel free to ask me.
I have 4 rats atm, but I plan to bump my numbers up to 6/7 once my new SRS (Savic Royal Suite) arrives. :V
-
I have begun the process of assembling my gift, like some jolly yuletide Voltron. One part is in my possession, one has been contracted, one has been located, one is still in the wild, waiting to be found. All is hopefully coming together.
-
Super excited. I ordered the first 124 of my gifts last night, now does spray paint count as gift particle for particle or is a layer of spray paint just one gift.

ok, then pay for my shipping fees on that day tq

Working on something special for my partner, over here.
-
Found something I might get, but it's kind of pricey (based on my lack of money at least). Le sigh... >:
WE SHALL SEEE.
-
Got the first part of my recipient's stuff today. I'll finish things off after I get paid on Friday. BV
-
My partner is really going to enjoy this.
-
main thing ordered. Sources tell me it SHOULD arrive in time, so it's just a matter of getting it set up to ship out with my father when it comes.
AND NOW FOR SMALL ADD-ONS BECAUSE I AM A LUCRATIVE GIFTER.
-
Package recieved. Thought it was my sister's, though, so I opened it already. orz
Thanks so much! I actually really like children's' books so
-
:o
Suggestion then for everyone else: GIFT WRAP YOUR ITEMS BEFORE MAILING!
That way even if you open it for whatever reason (by accident or parents wanting to make sure it's not an internet stranger trying to kidnap you or whatever) the surprise isn't spoiled. I'm actually surprised we haven't had that problem in our house in any of the prior years, as MJP buys all sorts of odds and ends on the internet that are shipped from all over the place and we get 1-2 boxes a week at least.
Comedy option - I put Cirno Claus and CPSS for the return address name in years past as a hint but I don't think that'll fly with customs forms.
-
A major part of the yuletide G-Elements that is my gift has come into my possession. It is now half done. A third part should be arriving within the next few days; then it's just getting the last one to exist.
-

Restating.
My sister and I share the same Amazon account since she has Prime. I opened it to see if she had it sent to the wrong address because I didn't ask her to pay for anything.

Found something that I think will work.
Aaaagh, a bit cash-strapped now to send it right now however, due to travel complications from last weekend. Should be not so problematic next week at least.
-
Congratulations, my giftee - yours is the first present I shall complete this season!
...if only because I can't procrastinate and finish stitching on Christmas Eve 2 hours before my grandma arrives :V
-
*squeal* My gift (that I will be giving) arrived at my house today but damnit my car won't start so I can't get it right now!!!
-
Main part of my gift has arrived. Will be ordering what remains soon enough, hopefully!
-
this was pretty tricky thinking about what to get, i hope i did it right :V
-
Be suuuuure to turn in your tracking numbers, new peoples! Those need to go out as well.
-
After a trip to Akihabara, I believe I have everything I wanted to get. Now just a matter of sending it soon.
-
Ready to send. Question, though--do we have to use Express Mail for domestic packages? Or is Delivery Confirmation tracking enough?
-
P sure any form of tracking works, as long as there is one and it gets there on time
-
Sending prolly next week.
-
A review of my postage reciept indicates the parcel should have 37 stamps on it.
-
Ready to send. Question, though--do we have to use Express Mail for domestic packages? Or is Delivery Confirmation tracking enough?
Priority with the tracking add-on is fine this far in advance to send within 'MURICA and it get there on time.
-
OK, so the tracking you get with Delivery Confirmation is sufficient?
-
OK, so the tracking you get with Delivery Confirmation is sufficient?
As long as you could plug the number into the USPS site or whatever and see the status it should be fine, I imagine.

OK. One of you lucky dogs is about to get a fistful of Maullar freshness.

I hope I'm the lucky one who gets to put up SFW Maullar at work, if for no other reason than to prove to the internet that it exists in concept and execution :V

*insert generic 'it's the thought thart counts' blabber*
-
I didn't specify anything because I wanted to see what random crazy shit people would get me... although I imagine most people have an idea of my tastes anyway
-
I don't specify anything because I think it's kinda dick to request specific stuff when someone's giving you a gift:V
-
I specified something because I was pretty lost on what I should get and a little hint would have helped a lot. However, I was very general: Thought provoking things, Interesting materials, Standard nerd gear, Standard weaboo gear.
-
Giving ideas to the gift-giver, especially if you don't know if said giftgiver knows you well enough to just guess on their own easily: Good
Expecting them to definitely follow them and/or being disappointed if they don't: Bad.
I think this about sums it up, yes?
Anyway, the countdown continues! Wonder how many peoples' gifts will show up late this year...?
-
Well I think it's good if people at least mentioned stuff like favorite Touhou character, maybe shows or movies or games they like.
Or make it obvious for me to stalk posts/Tumbler/Steam/etc and get said ideas for what things I can make for you
-
ayo rinnosuke dakimakura or gtfo
-
I specify stuff because after being around here for nearly 3 years I still don't know if people "know me" or not. :V
-
I specify stuff because lol ideas. and given the first year... I reckon I should because of the... gift itself, being inappropriate in some ways. (since i don't have a fridge at my apartment)
-
Just because we are on a touhou forum I feel like listing some preferred touhous would be a good idea. My gift in particular needed a character as a theme.
-
Eh, listing a few interests is perfectly fine by me, I just think one shouldn't be picky when getting a gift, as some have been in the past
Has worked out so far, though, so I guess everything's cool
-
But not that fresh. Bet you wish you'd picked Yes to NSFW now, don't you?
I said in thread that I wanted something NSFW. Ya'll are weird for not owning up that you're a bunch of pervs :V (except Forza)
I think not specifying gifts is part of the fun. Santa wants to know exactly what to get you for Christmas, Secret Santa should be getting you whatever the heck he feels like.
-
I said in thread that I wanted something NSFW. Ya'll are weird for not owning up that you're a bunch of pervs :V (except Forza)
Hypocrites.
I always say I'm cool with NSFW, though it'll be arse if someone does send me porn, because the first thing my mother asks me when something comes in the mail this time of the year is "it's that thing with your internet friends, right? whatisitwhatisit openitopenit". It's enough hassle to convince her every year that I can't open it till Christmas :V
BUT HEY whoever you are if you sent me porn, don't worry. I like porn.
-
Ugg, exams and projects are really bogging me down for time to get what I planned. I'll probably end up sending a portion of my gift that doesn't take long to get, and then send what I intended once my courses end.

Those of us who are married
do need to ensure our spouses aren't creeped out :V Otherwise I'd be rollin' dakis and sadlife 2 tha xtreme, but I had to specify that the worst it can get is WWII pinupish NSFW.
... which is why I hope Maullar or Leo or some other art type got that and is makin' some nose art of a P-40 named China Gal, all Flying Tigersish with Meiling

I might have to do that too. My gift wont be able to send off my until it gets to my place between the 13th and the 18th, and it would be a real bummer not to have something for Christmas... Also the deadline is the 14th and I don't want to get banned.
-

Note to self: Send A-F refridgerator.

Just keep Vic in the loop and he won't ban you (I've mailed late before because oops wasn't done stitching the gift in time :V) If you're sending domestically, priority will be fast enough if it's worst case and you can't mail it until the 19th.
If you're sending internationally all bets are off because customs is a magical and silly place where time has no logical meaning.
-
Well, I seem to have received a package today! ...Now I just have to wait 19 days to open it. Well, okay, 18 and a half... Thank you, my Secret Santa!
Now, to finish getting the stuff for my own recipient and get it sent off.
-
IF things go according to plan, I'll be able to mail off mine come monday.
-
Heard everything is finally completely together. Should hopefully be shipping soon-
Dad's doing the shipping, so hopefully he remembers to get the tracking number.

Package released. SHIPPED. LAUNCHED.
BRACE FOR IMPACT

An update on a couple of things...
First of all, it would seem someone has dropped a parcel on my doorstep. I find it amusing that whoever got me for SS has got their parcel to me before Puppy got hers. :V
As for how I'm doing on my end... I've got everything! Just need to pack it, wrap it, then send it off...
That last part is proving a little difficult because I didn't get the money I needed on Tuesday... :ohdear:
-
Ok I believe now everything is sent that was coming from the trianglehousehold.
Go forth packages on your long (or short) journey to who knows??? oh wait I do.
-
Got an international packet today, which I assume is from my partner.
Mailed mine this week as well.
-
gonna do it tomorrow, serious this time, I promise.
-
Sending my gift monday! So Excited!
-
Same here. I really hope this goes without a hitch.
-
Mmmmm bah. I was hoping to send an actual gift and a little personal gift as well, but I don't seem to have the time available for the personal gift, what with all the other things going on. Guess I'll just have to send the actual gift.
-
Waku waku! My part's now complete. Now to wait until Christmas! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IXZIqxrj5E) I'm getting some early gifts in the form of 2 interviews with potential for more. :3
-
All this freaking waiting
-
At least this will make getting the Hell off campus that much more worth it.
-
Tomorrow we're going shopping for gifts so I'll be picking some stuff up for this! I'm honestly at a bit of a loss as to what to get my person, but I'll figure it out! (with Jana's help maybe???)
Hopefully both our stuff can get shipped tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest~
-
Still no word from home. I'll bother dad again tomorrow seeing as he's had everything for a while. :v
(this would be easier if I had my phone ;W;)

A package is send. Weight lifts from my shoulders. Hot white light fills my fibers. I am of Juffo-Wup, content.

Sent mine last week, but no word on whether I've gotten anything at home yet or not.
-
I have received mine package. Sadly, I only need to glance at it to know who it's from :V
-
The stupid store didn't have anything good so I'll probably just have to order something online. Ugh it'd be best to just send it directly then even though that means I can't put a card or anything in it. >:
-
Some places will let you add a personalized greeting or summat, at least.
-
Just got parcels sent. Was pricy though, since I had to cover Kanjou as well. Job Seekers screwed him over for money and cut off his allowance. Came to just under ?35 for the 2 parcels.....
Did ask about tracking numbers.. but they said it would be like ?60 per parcel to do that, so.. yeah. no tracking number. >_<
Kanjou has already received his SS, but mine is still yet to be received. Hope it arrives soon ^^
-
Yeah The US Postal Service also doesn't offer tracking without coughing up a lot more $$$$ as I learned last year, but if you've got the number on the customs form that probably serves as tracking for at least part of the way depending where it's going.

Send a separate card in the mail :V

Alright! Everything is packed and ready to be sent.
Slightly late, but should be off tomorrow / in +/-18h.
... damnit, this was not a good time to catch the norovirus.
-
Just got back from the post office. Some lucky individual is going to get a nice package of Icelandic swag.
-
Hm. I seem to have gotten something in the mail yesterday. I actually recognize the name, too, which I found interesting. Now the hardest part: Not just tearing the package apart to find out what's there until the 25th!
-
And my gift has been sent. I'm glad importing that stuff from Japan didn't take forever like I was afraid it would.
-
I AM SO AFRAID :ohdear:
-
Just one little rhyme for y'allz: Zent sent packet went.

I got a package from Amazon today like most days and tore into it as usual. Luckily this one was gift wrapped so I knew it was for CPSS ;o
That and it was addressed to "Vic Viper"

I haven't gotten mine yet, but there is a very good chance I will open it as soon as I get it, because Christmas as you Westerners know it doesn't exist in Japan.

Yeah, Christmas in Japan means you might hear an instrumental version of Jingle Bells while you shop in the 3 days leading up to Christmas. Also fried chicken. I celebrated by bringing a buddy of mine to the Peace Memorial Museum, something light and uplifting, y'know?

Wouldn't eating a K-on cake cause a recursive loop in spacetime, like googling "google"?

word from home is the package still isn't sent (yet)
It should be sent before the 17th though. If not I'll bother my father to make sure it is, now that my phone is alive again >>

Actually, as far as advertisments and displays go, Japan is even WORSE than America. At least there you have Thanksgiving as a buffer once Halloween is over.
But on the whole most celebrations are either parties with friends or dates with your significant other, which is why most NEETs hate it.
-
And there we go.
The package has been handed over to the local postal service.
I feel equal amounts of relief and anxiety.
God damn I hope they dont mess anything up.
-
My landlord in our tiny apartment building collects nearly all the packages delivered to our shared address. Cue me going downstairs to pester him about potential deliveries every other day until it finally arrives.

I think it would stabilize it, actually. K-On and cakes just go hand in hand. Eat on!
I received a package just a few minutes ago, and it seems to have come from very far away! I feel a little bad that my own hasn't been sent yet because of finals and such, but it'll be out by Friday!

"What is it? Leftovers?"

I ordered my gift last night! It should be shipping now, but I can't access my e-mail which is stupid... I'll send the info as soon as that clears up.
Jana left early for his final so he can take his stuff to the post office, so it should be shipping by tomorrow~
\o/

Anddd the package is out. I'd give estimation on arrival, but that'd ruin the surprise :v
-
Hmm, just got a package. I wonder...
-
Well, I got a package today. It's from
HAHAHA no
, so I can only assume it's the gift.
Too bad the shipping bag has a few holes in it, and the box inside has been partially crushed in one corner. Doesn't sound like anything's broken, though.

Sending mine a bit late. Good thing
lol no

Relax, it's the thought that's important. If people get uppity with you over what you give them, they're doing it wrong. The fact you got/made/summoned someone else a gift should be enough for them, yes? I'd like to think the people here are a little better than that, y'know? =) Not that I know the people here well enough to judge, but still.

And to whoever is getting MY gift:
Forgive me if it seems rather ordinary but the shopping here in this town isn't very impressive, the mall is on the other end of down via underfunded bus system, and school has been such a stupid, mindless pain in the ass that I haven't had a chance to go shopping anyway. So I did everything digitally in the most easily sendable way possible.
On the other hand your wishlist wasn't asking for anything too exotic, sooo...I just hope you enjoy!
-
To whoever is getting my gift: Sorry about all the jumping spider eggs. I mistook them for figurine accessories. The box doesn't have any air holes, so you should be OK as long as you don't open it early.
-
To whoever is getting my gift: Nah, no message for you

To whoever gets my gift: I forgot to include instructions so listen up. Once you open the box you must find the courage not to look away from the horror within. The animated corpses will not yield to any intimidation for they have met death once before and do not know fear. Finally, the 4th horseman will not take your loved ones until you have lost hope. Everything else should be pretty self explanatory.

To whoever is sending my gift: I will lock myself in a tight little place and salivate over it.

I could have donated $60 and gotten Kenji wearing a Hasid hat and peyos?!

No avatar for me but I give you permission to change MJP's.

God dammit triangles I'm going to find the best possible close-up of China's boobs that can be fit in an MotK formatted icon and always change it back to it

I'm just waiting for someone to take that and shoop pasuheads onto the nerps.
-
Gawd I hope no one is actually stupid enough to do that.
-
I could have donated $60 and gotten Kenji wearing a Hasid hat and peyos?!

Yo your avatar was still a map of China IIRC so I halped :3
-
Sent my gift today. So much hype.
-
I got my gift today! It didn't come from as far away as Jana's did, but it's now also resting under our tree! :D
CHRISTMAS IS SO SOON!
-
Nothing yet orz
-
Nothing yet orz
I think things have worked out the same way for me the last couple of years. Both times I wondered if someone from overseas had gotten their package out on the last day or if I would become the reason someone would get banned.
-
We're both still package free at the anglehouse.
I suppose this is cosmic justice from last year, where my santee's gift went out later than I had wanted and got stuck in customs and arrived literally the last possible day before Christmas :V
-
Still derpin' round here. SECRET SANTA I AM DISAPPOINTED
YOU MUST BE LAZY
-
Sent!
-
arrived literally the last possible day before Christmas :V
That's the perfect scenario. Everyone just has weird expectations.
Nothing yet orz
Don't worry. I'm sure your gift will arrive in the next 3 to 5 business days...
-
Don't worry. I'm sure your gift will arrive in the next 3 to 5 business days...
Statistically it's more likely that it doesn't
-
It came on time last year though right?
I wonder what was different.
-
Odd too, because it was a weird-ass scheme only Pesco could've pulled off :V
Arashi sent it straight through a chinese retailer the first year, Vic sent it directly and who the hell knows what happened after
-
I have no words.
The local postal service sent the package through the wrong shipping service.
Instead of worldwide tracking it only has limited tracking in the EU.
And while it should arrive before the 24th, I have no actual idea where it is at the moment.
-
[Sound of me going gomenasai gomenasai gomenasai shivering on the floor while biting my nails]
I for one, sent it out as early as I could... (sob) probably... could have done better...
[Regular scheduling of panicky screaming and hair pulling here over cosplay costume failure]

auau hauu hauu auau auu-wa hauuau (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8B-k8P667hQ)
-
Intresting, I received another package/parcel today.
There is a low probability that they are not related, but I wont know
unless I open them.
I'm not gonna risk it, so up on the shelf it goes!
-
Package has arrived...At my dad's place, since I won't be at my current address this Christmas. :V Just as well, removes all temptation to look at it and wonder what nifty thing is inside.
Get hype Acquire enthusiasm.
-
Nothing as of yet. Holding out hope.
More disturbingly, my person has yet to announce their package arriving. =|
-
My person may or may not have said something already, but just in general for everyone:
Please say something when your package arrives! <3
-
A title update is in order too
-
I received my package! Three gifts wrapped in newspaper. Can't wait until I can open them!
-
Right, I got mine a while back. It's sitting at home under a pile of figurine boxes and out-of-fashion ropes. I'll open it when I get back from vacation on New Year's Day.
-
You guys are having way too much fun, and being so vocal. Man, it's supposed to be a secret, man.
And whoever had to send the seven pound (3.2 kilo) package I received, my fondest condolences for the redacted
you had to endure with shipping.
(Of course, assuming this is a CPSS package. Also, I have a slight suspicion it's somebody state-side being clever, because it came through a shipping department.)

Who sends what is a secret. The fact that gifts are being sent and received is not.
-
Yeeaahhh I think my sent package is lost in the mail. That's not good.
-
On that note, I still haven't received tracking numbers from some of you, or any shipping notification at all.
You were required to PM me once you mailed your package. Do so now if you haven't!
-
Customs Hell is a very real place and we've had stuff stuck there a very long time in the past.
On a related note, I order a thing
for MJP back at the end of November and that apparently got lost in the mail (domestic shipped at that!) so I hope the stuff that's coming our way didn't wind up in the same postal abyss that package did :ohdear:
-
Speaking of shipping, and on an embarrassing note, I only managed to drag myself out of the house today and send my gift. My partner should be getting it on the 24th.
Get a flu shot everyone, I've been in varying stages of sick for over a month :<
-
Still no sign of my SS parcel. n_n;
-
Was about to post to say that my parcel will be late. Checked the postbox and there's a notice to go collect something from the Post Office. Looks like I'll have to go outside tomorrow for once :V.
-
Cirno Claus just delivered BOTH of our packages oh boy oh boy!
-
Who sends what is a secret. The fact that gifts are being sent and received is not.
Well, whoever gets a package from me is going to KNOW it's from me. I am the Icelandic Touhou Community, after all.
-
Well, whoever gets a package from me is going to KNOW it's from me. I am the Icelandic Touhou Community, after all.
The same for the African continent :V
-
Yeah, Pesco's got a whole damn continent to himself! That's nothing to sneeze at.
I guess if I wanted to be super clever I could have sent the package to an agent somewhere else in the world, with instructions to re-package it and send it on to its destiny. But my days at the CIA are over, tyvm.
-
The same for the African continent :V
YOUR PACKAGE FOR ME CAME FROM CANADA LAST YEAR YOU TREACHEROUS BUNNY
-
U mad bro? :smug:
I redeemed my DotS achievement points just for that.

Some lucky person is going to get some delicious rotten shark!
-
U mad bro? :smug:
I redeemed my DotS achievement points just for that.
Yeah, I had to send it! The shipping was expensive.
-
Thanks bro, really. I hope he repaid you, that filthy bunny
-
So what I thought was my gift was actually a gift for my stepmother that my dad had shipped to me to keep her from knowing about it. My actual gift arrived today.
Sadly I'll have to open it on Christmas Eve, because I work Tuesday-Thursday of next week and will be too tired to bother with anything when I get home those days.
-
Christmas Eve is when you're supposed to open it.
-
Christmas Eve is when you're supposed to open it.
Is this an MotK tradition, or just a non-US tradition? I know they open the gifts on the 24th here; back home, it was on the 25th.
-
Whether there's a tradition or not, I think there's much more of a nice anticipation that you get when you open gifts on the 25th. Waking up and opening your gifts with your family and whatnot has a really nice charm and feel-good atmosphere to it.
-
Eh, now you got me. The CPSS description goes for 25th, but over here Christmas Eve is the night of the 24th, that's when we open stuff.
I didn't really realise Americans do it on the 25th when I posted that.
fake e:
Waking up and opening your gifts with your family and whatnot has a really nice charm and feel-good atmosphere to it.
The same family feeling and atmosphere are around when opening presents with the whole family after dinner
-

I'm all for this, especially when there's the 'can't sleep much so excited' feeling as you go to sleep on the 24th. (Or at least I have that feeling still. I suppose my inner child's not dead yet. =D)
Of course, there's nothing wrong with doing things differently from how others do it. It's all about enjoying yourself and the company you're keeping for the holidays and stuff, yes?
-
Yeah, I've done both, and I think the dates don't particularly matter - it's that warm, Whoville feeling that does. That, and the pleasure of stuffing the wrapping paper under the couch as you sprawl out from eating too much and spend the day watching the Aliens films.
-
Yeah, this 24th vs. 25th thing really doesn't seem like much of an issue. I open on the night of the 24th which, after a large dinner and my parents going to church, lands around 9pm. Opening gifts takes about an hour and then we spend time judging each other's gift choices. By the time all arguments are resolved it's usually around 1am which is... the morning of the 25th, and perfectly within reason for everyone to start opening presents. Even if you're asleep and open presents around 7 (or whenever people get up) you still wouldn't hear from me until you got a chance to report your gift so ultimately everyone finds out around the same time.
The only exceptions are people living far to the west of me, and people who like staying awake to catch Santa in his rounds.
-
Different cultures have different traditions kids.
Just don't open your presents before Christmas Eve! I guess that makes more sense right?
-
I have to open mine when I receive it because :parents:
Although I'll prolly receive it after christmas or something idk
-
fake e:The same family feeling and atmosphere are around when opening presents with the whole family after dinner
sry i actually can't imagine having the same feels if it were in the evening
-
I got a rather large package from England, tempted to just rip it open now since the outer wrapping is partially torn anyway.
-
Carrier Package has arrived. Thought i could narrow down who sent it by looking at when people said they sent their stuff out. My sender may have been smart enough to not say so exactly on the same day as mailing.
-
sry i actually can't imagine having the same feels if it were in the evening
I guess it's just a cultural thing. I can't imagine having to drag everyone out of bed in the morning before opening gifts (beginning with myself). We wait until midnight before we open ours, so it's sort of on the 25th, but we have dinner at 11 PM so that it's also right after dinner. Then we can doo fun things all night!
-
that day when i shipped my package it was shipped along with /a few others/ and at least 2 of them already have arrived it seems i wonder when my recipient will get his :ohdear:
also did i hear a mention of DoTS
-
I'm going to be so unimpressed with my Postal Service if The Package fails to arrive before christmas eve.
I apologize if it does. And, uh, pardon my crappy handwriting.
-

might as well mention that our packages havent arrived huehuehue
-
Getting nervous. USPS says my package should arrive on the 20th... but I guess it hasn't cuz that's not it's status...
-
Christ on a cracker, if the goyim can't figure out which day to open the freaking presents how in the hell did you take over the world? :V
My box is from NOOOOOPE NOPE NOPE
!
-
Hush you, your people have like 8 days how do you all decide?
-
Well, my people celebrate Festivus, should I open it on the 23rd then?
-
Christ on a cracker, if the goyim can't figure out which day to open the freaking presents how in the hell did you take over the world? :V

Package received.
-
Still no sign of mine. I'm guessing it'll after xmas now :(
-
Yep, nothing here, neither.
Ah well, time to get out the Kwanzaa candles.
-
No sign on this end. Well then. >:
-
I seem to have gotten a package today, according to people at home. Hmmm!
-
At least here in 'MURRICA you can still get mail delivered on Dec 24th so all hope is not lost!
-
Came back from a week-long trip, time to see for any packages...nope. :<
-
Waaaiting is the haaardest paaaart~
-
Yep, there's a reasonably large box here from
YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE READING THIS, CITIZEN
. Sadly, the dog beat me to it and chewed off a bit of one the top flaps, but not enough to open it prematurely or (presumably) damage the contents.
Now to keep waiting ;_;
-
I have intel that the present for me has reached the borders. Not yet on my hands though, so unless for some miracle it's released today, I won't see it on Christmas.
-
I'm actually disappointed that people don't know when to open their gifts for Secret Santa. If any of y'all had read the OP (and I get the feeling you didn't) you would have seen:
12/25/2012 - Open your gift and post what you got
MY THREAD MY RULES! /pout
-
Reading instructions? What is this archaic activity you speak of?
-
sry i actually can't imagine having the same feels if it were in the evening
It has its own appeal. Waiting until 12 midnight to open the gifts is kinda like a New Years party with gifts.
-

Well shit. :derp:
Uhhhhhhh I'll just poast all the piccies tomorrow then.
-
Oh.
Ok well then.
E: WHAT ARE YOU DOING
-
I think I screwed up.
Doubly.
 :colonveeplusalpha:
-
MY THREAD MY RULES! /pout
I work a 12 hour shift tomorrow, so I took the liberty of opening my gift today while the family celebrated Christmas.
I'll probably post the pictures later tonight or early tomorrow morning.
-
If whoever got matched up with me could let Vic know if you sent something or not, I'd appreciate it. I have to physically go to the post office to check for packages, so knowing ahead of time if there's even anything on my way there would be helpful.
-
MY THREAD MY RULES! /pout
Oi I totally mentioned the OP when we were talking dates :<
-
Anddd package got here on the last possible day, like magic!
and from malyasia whoops sorry secret santa I DIDN'T MEAN IT WHEN I SAID YOU WERE LAZY ;W;
-
Luckily, things worked out here. The mail is typically delivered to my landlord who runs his business downstairs. He hasn't been around since Friday.
-
AHHHHH without being on time my present may louse a modicum of it's awesomeness...
-
Yay! Package labelled "MotK SS" from
no bloody way I'll be telling ya until the 25th in my region
arrived on the last day! :)
-
My room-mate told me that I have received notice of something from overseas. Could be family, could be one of you. Guess we'll find out after Christmas!
-
Just got my present from Cirno Clause! Perfect timing Cirno. Now the waiting game (till tomorrow). No return address either so I'm completely in the dark.
-
I could have posted my present today but I had to go to work and probably won't get back until late tonight.
-
I opened my gift, and I am pleasantly surprised; however, I don't have a camera right now so I'll share what I got tomorrow.
-
Given that is is the 25th here, I shall post mine.
Words don't do this justice, so here it is in picture form, and in full size to properly appreciate it:

warning: I swear. a lot.
seriously though I'm sorry I can't read the name.
-
One and a half more hours!
-
My sender clearly knew a bit about me since I didn't indicate anything on my preferences.

Looks like a commisioned pic of mafia Tewi and my signature phrase of First Post MindHax. The shirt feels like quality material and quite warm.

Tsukihime DVD. I've never gotten into Tsukihime before and this may be a hint to get introduced.
The candidate senders based on the postage date aren't people who could have known to send me these gifts. But I'm going to wing it and say my sender was Edible as he's the only one in the pool that could have chosen this.
Merry Christmas and big thanks Ediboss :V
-
WHAT THERE WAS A TSUKIHIME ANIME?!
-
It's now December 25th in Eastern Standard Time (aka god's chosen time zone) so open your presents ya mooks!
-

Okay! Here is one box!
It appears to have a nasty case of postage. Like, a lot of postage. Where is this thing from anyways?
... Oh.
It all makes sense now. And there's only ONE person here from Africa. Now to tear this badboy.
A SHOEBOX! :D Oh man this is the--THERE'S STUFF INSIDE! HOLY! This gets better and better!
MURASA ANCHOR! WITH MY NAME ON IT! I'm gonna use it to pull so many things to me... There's something else in here. I have no idea what it is.
It's like.. Hmm. Some sort of backscratcher? Fortunately there's a piece of paper that explains.. What... It is...
Goddammit.. GODDAMMIT! IT'S A MYTHICAL HOOK! AAAAAAAHAHAHA! Keep your in-game mythical meathooks, I have an actual one!

GET OVER HERE!!!
THANK YOU PESCAR! LOOOOVE! And I'm sure you'll get love on your Christmas day. Wink wink nudge nudge.

AND SO CHRISTMAS CAME. I already opened my present a bit earlier, it was my secret weapon in the war against the mass amount of presents my mother gets from her students each year.
She still won in numbers but my family was like 'oh shit this is awesome' so i think i won
So open opening the envelope with I first pulled out something really awesome
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v179/blackness/DSC_0001_zps1f560c57.jpg)
GOD DAMN ART. The copies are sadly wrinkled from transportation, but still really pretty and I'm considering hanging them somewhere. (also pictured magical chaore beds)
But wait. Whats that above those beautiful futos? (WHICH ARE ALSO SIGNED WITH SEXY HANDWRITING)
A really damn nice empty booklet, containing a message (With incredibly sexy handwriting, if I may say) from my incredibly mysterious Secret Santa. I swear this is actually something I should know but i'm somewhat inebriated at the moment and I really like it. (also manly chaore hands, contain yourselves ladies)
And for a stinger, on top of those already awesome gifts?
SEIBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (ALSO STUFFED ANIMALS)
This is actually a little hanging cloth thing, for a door or something and aaaaa screw how to properly explain it it is SABER AND IT IS AWESOME
AF IS BEST SECRET SANTA LET ME SMOTHER YOU WITH HUGS AAAAAAAAA
(I AM ATLEAST FAIRLY SURE IT'S AF. ACCEPT YOUR HUGS IF YOU ARE NOT AF THOUGH)
(ALSO AF I ACCEPT YOUR DECLARATION WE ARE SECRET SIBLINGS, GIVE ME A HUG)
-
All right, now that it's the 25th here let's open up the package!

Singapore eh? This ought to be interesting. Oh hey, customs sticker notes a plushie inside, I wonder what kind...?
Time to open the gift / uncrate the loot....

DONATE NOW, MAGGOTS, AND YOU WILL NOT BE HARMED! (http://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/images/1/18/Soldier_taunts15.wav)
There's only one part missing - who made and sent this excellent gift? Going by the illustration style on the card, I'm pretty certain that pasu sent this. In which case, more Pasuheads galore!
Regardless whether that is correct or not, many thanks for this! :3
-
So my gift:
P4 Golden and a Vita skin! I threw my Mikkuri in the picture for good measure.
I have a history with P4. I've bought versions of P3 4 times and have completed the game 9 times. I bought P4 upon release and have never come close to finishing it; I keep waffling about whether or not I actually want to play it in fear that I might like the game more than P3 and to this point have never made it beyond Yukiko's castle. Now that I own this game twice I have a huge incentive to actually play the freaking thing!
Thanks EP!
-
WHAT THERE WAS A TSUKIHIME ANIME?!
Clearly a photoshopped cover. Probably Eiken or something on the inside.
Also I want that Soldier Reimu holy crap
-
OK, time to open up!
I had gotten a pretty nondescript package that seemed to contain three items, and so, upon opening it:
(http://i.imgur.com/ItRS3l.jpg) (http://imgur.com/ItRS3)
A Darth Vader head plushie (Vaderkkuri?), which looks all kinds of cute and badass at the same time. The label says it's from Angry Birds Star Wars, but I can't see any noticeable difference from the original DV, I guess he already had a bird-looking head?
Second subpackage was two "monster caps" to use with mustard and ketchup, exactly the kind of cheesy thing with limited use I asked for!
And third is a figure from Aion Online. I'm not familiar with the franchise, but that doesn't stop me from finding it very detailed and badass looking. The feet were broken at the ankles, probably during the travel, but it seems easy enough to fix with a little superglue.
Anyway, thanks a lot partner!
As from who you are, I can't say I have a good clue, so I'm gonna use Sherlock Mind Hax Power and guess... Dr Rawr?
-
Good morning to all of you. This is Tamashii Kanjou, reporting in about this 'Secret Santa' package. This is my third Christmas doing this with you lot, so let's see what wonderful items are in here.
But first, let us see how this looks :

Oh, it's a merlion.
Well, I've actually never tried instant coffee, so this will be an interesting experience.
Also that picture of Marisa is amazing. No, seriously, it is. It's so good, my dad and stepmom thought this was a pre-printed card at first.
Judging from the artwork, I'm going to say that venappo sent this.
Thank you very much! This is an amazing gift!
brb going to make a cup of coffee
E: Oh yeah, jukebeat is an English version of jubeat for iOS devices. I've actually never played the arcade version ;_;

Merry Christmas and big thanks Ediboss :V
Oh god he FPMHed a Christmas present.
(The DVD is mostly a joke, but all the better if you get some enjoyment out of it somehow)
There's really only a couple of people who could've sent mine, but as I am presently in one state and my presents are present in another, I will open and post about them tomorrow.
Merry Christmas, folks. <3
-
Merry Christmas everyone!
Of course, I wasn't able to participate due to IRL things (and the fact that after all these years I've only registered here at motk recently) but I still think it's great how you guys have been doing this each year. Even if some of you are half-across the world from each other, you all still manage to put a smile on someone's face each Christmas. And that, is definitely awesome.
Perhaps next year I'll join in, if things are better for me at the time. If not, I can still sit back and watch. :V Hope you all like what you receive (and even if not, remember, it's not about the gifts, it's the thought that counts) and you all have a nice day~
-
@Tamashii Kanjou: Wait what did you get? It looks cool. I just don't know what it is.
-
Also, quick request for everyone - if you take pictures of packages, please try to edit out or cover the addresses if possible. Thanks!
-
'twas the day after the night before Christmas which fell like three weeks after Chanukah thanks to the crazy Hebrew lunar calendar
and not a creature was stirring, except for triangles singing this exactly the same way these kids are. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=bhuBKTmkLvU#t=57s)
The presents were dropped under the tree with some infintesimal degree of care
In hopes that someone would bring me some goddamn coffee already because it's 8:21 AM and I'm not asleep :V
ANYWAY SANTA CAME despite me being one of the Christ-killers :V :V THANK YOU SANTA!

Bawkses! One's from Iceland and it's for me holy craaaaaaaaaap
(http://i.imgur.com/PD9xY.jpg)
It's a puffin! This guy totes doesn't have Toucan Sam envy. It's not the size and colorfulness of the beak, it's how you use it!

Iceland: "Our calendar is full of so many volcanoes and shit, we're not going to name it anything other than ISLAND. We are vikings, come at me bro."
(That's their Latin motto. Iceland agreed, don't bother them about it)

SCORE SANTA SENT ME MONEY
It's a 1 kroner keychain!

So like I said, a few days ago, this showed up:
うおっまぶしっ
(http://imageshack.us/a/img547/6707/p1040140.jpg)
Under that layer is...
HOORAY! Just what I always wanted!
As for it's ACTUAL contents:
AHHHH FURRIES!!!!! NUKE IT WITH FIRE FROM ORBIT GOON SIR
(http://imageshack.us/a/img59/4436/p1040148jh.jpg)
Because, you know, I'm not already constantly surrounded by Evangelion as it is. At least in this format, it's slightly more comprehensible.
This is pretty cool: a pillow that has a velcro strap so it can be curled up. And I do like penguins and all.
The obligatory create.swf picture.
And the card itself.
Yeah, so it's blurry, deal with it. The three cards are Tower Drake, Burden of Guilt and Search Warrant. I don't know if this selection is supposed to be significant in any way, as if hinting at the sender.
Thanks, Kanjou!

Jesus Tap-dancing Christ you people are good at guessing where your gifts came from
-
I too received a box, it was the white one you see in MJP's photo.
(oh god my living room is messy haven't cleaned please don't judge me :ohdear:)
(also mismatched PJs but psh to that I'm not sorry)
Ceci is helping me unwrap Christmas.
Santa Ducks! This will be great for the bubble baths I can take because I'm short enough to fit into the bathtub :V This also explains the rattling I heard so I'm glad it wasn't anything being broken!
A knit hat! I like hats. MJP takes photos at the worst possible times but whatever. Like the bandaid? That is where I sliced my finger when I was chopping chocolate because only I can manage to bleed in the process of making cookies.
Oh I see what Ceci wanted.
Catnip mousies!
A Taters emerges and wants mousie too! She grabs it right out of my lap and doesn't even wait for me to take it out of the package holy crap what sort of weapons grade catnip is this?
I wrestle the mousies away from Taters to snip them off the card and throw them back into the box. Both cats are intrigued. Clearly this is the best idea.
What no
Ceci what are you doing
That's not very nice
But since Cirno Claus brought twomice for my twocats once I threw them they each got one and all was well :V
I instantly recognized the name so no guessing required - thanks Jana :3 :3 :3

Alright, its time!
(http://i.imgur.com/iQc6ml.jpg) (http://imgur.com/iQc6m)
First of all, an amazon parcel box, addressed to me, from a name I know there is only one person with that...
In any case, let's see what's inside!
(http://i.imgur.com/UCIG1l.jpg) (http://imgur.com/UCIG1)
A very cool letter with an amusing sketch! Also, a silly little bit of silliness on the back. I'll have to scan for more clarity!

Underneath that, we have... books! And an art piece!
(http://i.imgur.com/vvJWHl.jpg) (http://imgur.com/vvJWH)
Two Touhou books.
(http://i.imgur.com/1LinBl.jpg) (http://imgur.com/1LinB)
Madoka & The Magical Factory printed out in booklet form?! Yeeees~
(http://i.imgur.com/IFvCRl.jpg) (http://imgur.com/IFvCR)
And the art piece is a very nice picture of Reimu. :3
Lastly...
(http://i.imgur.com/uWi6Ml.jpg) (http://imgur.com/uWi6M)
Shorts! It's unfortunately too cold to wear them at the moment, but when spring/summer kicks around, these are going right on my body!
Thanks aplenty, Maullar. Man, I oh so wonder what I would have gotten if I'd said "yes" to NSFW presents (would I really have gotten that Mr. Lumpy?! :o). But, man, these are excellently fantastic on their own so it doesn't matter at all. BV

Merry Christmas, guys and gals!
I wish you a great and awesome 2013.
Now lets see what we got.
A hard and a soft-ish package, adressed to me by someone I do not know.
Poking and prodding reveals few secrets and closer investigation reveals one arrived with USPS and that the other is from Amazon.
So after a few expert incisions, package no.1 reveals:
A box of candy! Lots and lots of delicious marshmellows~ :]
A pair of Touhou powerups (not pictured here).
And a letter from the secret Cirno.
Now, lets see... Whats behind door inside package no.2?
A book! And a pretty interesting book at that. :D
Thanks man, I really appriciate it.
(The smudge is from the camera).
So, all in all:

Also, to my anonymous recipient:
I deeply apologize that you have not received the package yet.

For my gift I got 36 Cube, a puzzle that has now entranced someone in my family every hour not spent sleeping.
I have yet to beat it but I got to 34/36 this morning.
I have no idea who sent me this. I only know, their irl name, and address, because it's written on the shipping invoice but this information is borderline useless to me.
Thank you very much for the though provoking thing.

Given I recognized the name on the package, I can kinda guess who my sender was, and by Hakurei you spoiled me amazingly! (Due to ridiculous filesizes, using imgur: http://imgur.com/a/3zE1m)
For those who can't click the link above for whatever reason, a list:
-2 boxes of Toppo bread sgtick things with creme filling, basically a Pocky-like thing, though it's supposed to be even better. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.
-A music single of some form featuring Udongein
-The Best of Non-Stop Toho Eurobeat 2011
-The Memories of Phantasm DVD
-An awesome(and cute) circular metal Youmu keychain thing. I'm NOT using this as its intended form for fear of damage or loss, but rahter I'm going to make it an amazing necklace once I get myself some high gauge chain to thread it in.
Thanks a lot, CPSS sender~!

My notice that a package awaits at the post office.
"Vi?takandi" = recipient, i.e., me.
"Sendandi" = sender, who goes by the cryptic "NN".
What could NN mean? Non-nude? DID SOMEONE SEND ME SOFTCORE?!?! You better hope you didn't leave a return address if you did!
-
with a name like Boots & Barkley I'm disappointed it wasn't a b-ball toy
You know I completely missed that because my cats were too busy getting high off da nip for me to notice anything else :V
Also because I suppose I can answer this one in more detail than he can...
@Tamashii Kanjou: Wait what did you get? It looks cool. I just don't know what it is.
It is a tile mosaic of a Madoka picture found off the interwebs because I sure as hell have no art skillz. The base images were printed on 5x7 photo paper and the shadowbox is 8x10. I used actual bathroom tiles (did you know in a sheet of one inch square tiles they are not all evenly one square inch? :fail:) and a fancypants dimensional glaze finish which due to the angle you can really only see in the upper right corner in the photo. The Yuuka is a cross-stitched tree ornament and everyone has a chance to win one of their own by donating to charity during the Tou-ho-ho Fest! (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,13866.0.html) </end shameless promotion I swear it just worked out timing-wise that way>
Kanjou - may I request a head-on photo with just the Madoka piece? I completely forgot to take a picture before I sent it out :V
Also also.....
From HakureiSM:
-2 boxes of Toppo bread sgtick things with creme filling, basically a Pocky-like thing, though it's supposed to be even better. Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

First off, sorry if these are huge and laggy. I had to use my sister's boyfriend's smartphone to get photos, then learned after the fact he's all like "Hwur hwur my iPenix is umpteen megapixels and U CANT HANDLE IT!", and that he didn't realize that pictures literally twice as large as any modern monitor and the size of an MP3 aren't useful for anything. I've got no way to shrink 'em without ruining them, and I can't get half of them to thumbnail right, so I am going to put my faith in the forum to size 'em down intelligently.
Here we see a box, after sister's boyfriend's sheltie helped himself to it the moment we turned our back on the little bastard. You'll note the clever use of a sock to preserve my SS Guy's modesty.
Hell yeah, newspaper! I'm gonna get to be warm tonight!
Oh there's some stuff in there too.
In the envelop, we find a lovely card with a personal message I won't share here because it's personal. (Re: I do!)
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
This is a very interesting gift, for a very interesting coincidence. You'll note the Greek mythology book there? I've seen that book before. In particular, I encountered that bad boy in the school library when I was in 5th grade, and knew Greek Mythology was the shit due to playing Battle of Olympus (which is also the shit, go play it), but didn't have much practical knowledge outside of trying and failing to really comprehend Edith Hamilton's Mythology. That book you see right there was probably the first thing that really helped me get a handle on it, and progress to the social sciences noid I am today. In particular, I remember staying home sick (or maybe "sick") and reading that while playing Pool of Radiance on NES. =]
Thank you, matey. All of these are excellent and so are you.

Apparently some of you have better things to do on Christmas than to post your gifts on the internet >;E Please do so soon because I care an incredible amount about what everyone gets. Y'all are my babies.
I think I've replied to all the inquiries I needed to. Let me know about any outstanding questions.

Next year I hope I'll have money to participate D:
-
None of all this fancy opening pictures nonsense. This is what was inside my package!

A can of chili, a copy of the Necronomicon, and a hamster? O_o
Apparently I threw out the drawing with the envelope so maybe this would have made more sense with that? x_x;; Still, what a lovely book of the dead to get for Christmas! Beware when I go Grimdark Nobu >:3
-
But more importantly, did you figure out who Crazy Aunt Gertie was?
-
Also also.....From HakureiSM:
oi?
By the way, I have super-secret intel that my Santa did ship their shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA) on time headed my way, as it has arrived HUEland over two weeks ago. Furthermore, intel states that the post offices are greatly enjoying their holidays, as the package was released from customs and declared 'en route' to my local post office a week ago.
Remember, this is classified information.
-
oi?
He had said "by Hakurei" meaning "by God" and the meaning was mistaken. I think that's what happened.
-
Ooh, right. Yeah, that makes sense.
-
Man, whoever got me this year is crazy generous. I received four, that's right, 4 graphic novels, which weighed in at a massive 7 pounds.
No pictures sadly, but not really needed.
1. Saga: Volume 1, written by Brian Vaughan, art by Fiona Staples. Never heard of the series before, but the art style is very visually appealing, and looks like a science fiction with fantasy elements mixed with romance.
2. The Watchmen: Not too much needs to be said about probably the best graphic novel created. I've read this bad boy before, and am intensely pleased to have a copy of my own.
3. The Walking Dead: Volume 1. I'd imagine most of the US has heard of this series through the TV series, as had I. One of my friends who is really into TWD raves about the books as well, and now I can finally see what all his fuss is about.
4. SCUD: The Disposable Assassin, by Rob Schrab. This thing is the mostrosity that contributed most to the weight, probably has over 500 pages. Cut my teeth a bit on this one and am quite enthralled. Drawn in very stylized art; sets-up the story in a dysfunctional world where robotic assassins can be contracted via vending machine. Lots of absurd characterization, and violence. Working up to be an awesome read.
This present nearly doubles my meager collection, and it's filled with all ace entries. Thank you Cirno Santa!

Jesus Tap-dancing Christ you people are good at guessing where your gifts came from
duh fuck?
So, I suppose I got it right?
I saw the package was from Maryland, and a search of "maryland" on the forum yielded a post by Doc R. saying he/she were from Maryland's Howard county, which is where the city the package was posted from is. Ergo, that seemed a good enough guess. </dearwatson>

the booklet actually says 'SOUL/SPIRIT MOVING KUNG FU MASTERY' on the cover, it is a classic kung fu (pseudo-magic shit) that involves someone slapping your body so hard it sends your soul flying out straight to hell. scary... now... to write the contents in.
-
Intel update: Informant has forwarded to me that the shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA) has arrived its final destination, which is unfortunately not my own adress, due to logistics reasons. Operation Santa Retrieval has been greenlit and may now commence.
Everyone's got so much cool stuff I'm mad jelly right now.
-
Sorry it took me till now our power just came back on. I got my present the day before Christmas and kept shaking and feeling it to see and guess what it was. It was a very jingly (word?) package and I was completely at a loss as to what it was. So I opened it on Christmas morning (first present I opened) and found something awesome.

Thanks a ton Imosa! I absolutely love it! That was a great idea as I love to build my figures and Aya is one of my favorite Touhous. I'm going to need those instruction if you have them though, I'm a lego noob. I gave it a little shot while our power was out last night but didn't get far. I'll post a picture of her complete when I get a chance. I hope she doesn't snap any pics of me for blackmail!

I didn't think to take pics of the whole ongoing gift opening process, so I'll just have to describe it I guess. It was just a regular Post Office box, and after struggling to open it and receiving help from the family cuz it was sealed really well, it revealed 3 smaller packages, each wrapped in really pretty sparkly blue paper with snowflakes on it. I opened them from smallest to largest.
The smallest contained: A Homestuck Sburb Spirograph necklace! Wow bless you for actually buying me a Homestuck thing.
The next packaged contained: 3 really cute pins! One is of Noel Vermillion from BlazBlue and the other two of League of Legends ladies (Sona and Lux).
When I picked up the last package and felt it I could only think one thing so I said aloud to my family, "Is this chocolate?" And then it was chocolate.
So here's pics of me with my stuff.
And a slightly closer one without the chocolate as I'm sure we all know what chocolate looks like:

THANKS SECRET SANTA! I don't know who you are (Jana does >: ), but I love you.
-
It really does seem like more people know who their sender was than don't, haha.
So, when do we see the full chart of who sent to who?

So, when do we see the full chart of who sent to who?
Probably after New Year's, hopefully everyone will have posted their results by then.

Agent Hakurei reporting in, Operation Santa Retrieval was much harsher than expected, but ultimately successful.
The shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA) is now in possession of the Agency, and disclosal shall proceeded as normal.
Stage 1: Proof of Receipt
(http://i49.tinypic.com/28jicrb.jpg)
Portrayed is Agent Sol keeping watch of the shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA).
Stage 2: Disclosal
(http://i47.tinypic.com/2vx0zfs.jpg)
Upon opening of the package, it is revealed to contain a set of peculiar assets. Disclosal procedure will now evaluate each individually.
Stage 3: Befuddlement
(http://i49.tinypic.com/4gn48p.jpg)
Well... this is surely an interesting coincidence. No worries, my heart is jumping with joy, this is hilarious.
DOUBLE HAKUREI POWER
Stage 4: Appreciation
(http://i48.tinypic.com/i3tnxj.jpg)
A Cirno glass, and a very very awesome Samurai coaster to go with it.
The glass shall make a noble companion in my nights of ethanol-fueled amusement, the coaster I'm afraid will never see any use, as a means of preservation, as cardboard coasters last a total of 5 days before dissolving into worthlessness in the local humidity.
Closeup of the coaster.
Stage 5: Suspicion
(http://i45.tinypic.com/2z6b2px.jpg)
What is this individually-wrapped container in a suspicious, non-protective fashion?
Stage 6: Confusion
[nsfw]http://i49.tinypic.com/1z4y6v9.jpg[/nsfw]
... I am not entirely sure what to think of this. My heart right now is undergoing a very strange mix of emotions.
Better put this away before my mother comes asking what did I get for christmas.
Stage 7: Normality
(http://i47.tinypic.com/211jk7.jpg)
Last but in no way least, an incredibly awesome Touhou illustration book. I have never owned one of these, and am surprised by the quality of the print, and most of all the quality of the artwork, very very nice.
Hey look, Reimu has a Strato, much like mine (http://i45.tinypic.com/108csgj.jpg)!
Stage 8: Conclusion
The shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA) was posted directly from Japan. Via cross-referencing of classified data, it was concluded that the last remaining Forum members doing field-work in Glorious Nihon are N-Forza and Nietz.
N-Forza was already revealed to have forwarded his loot to user codename Jq1790. Furthermore, the shit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zZhTYQtuIA) came from Ibaraki, further asserting that the blame is on Nietz.
Final review of Sir Nietz:
- Got the address wrong
- Gave me the same thing Pesco gave me last year
- Gave me an artificial vagina.
- Gave me a whole bunch of awesome swag
Rating: Awesome.
Cacete, isso foi sensacional. Brigad?o cara, mesmo! :D
-
Oh my god I love you Nietz.
-
Hahahaha holy shit man. GJ.

It's the second of Christmas. The post office is not open until tomorrow. I have the notice, and will retrieve it tomorrow and post pics.

Christmas is more than one day there? Damn I'm in the wrong country
-
The Second of Christmas is a mixed blessing. Time off from work, but no one has a party and most places are still closed.
-
I have now had a chance to try the Toppo. The chocolate one I can't judge, but I've been assured it's really good by those who did eat it. The strawberry one? Absolutely delicious, would eat again. (And I WILL, since I've still got most of my first pouch left, plus the other one.)

With detective work like that I'll have to find a mailing proxy for next year.
-
If you're looking to sell one of those Reimu dolls, I know someone who will take it off your hands.
Assuming you can get the money/ship it out safely, etc.
-
I'm not sure about that. Isn't it easier to get them straight from there, though?
The one Nietz got me was still neatly wrapped, so I'm assuming he just bought it.
-
- Got the address wrong
Derp. :V I also got my cousin's address wrong when I sent him some stuff a while back. I must have selective dyslexia for addresses or something. Also, why do you have so many names, are you royalty or something? :p
- Gave me the same thing Pesco gave me last year
Gahh, major slip. I set out to Akiba looking for some Reimu figurine or similar, and decided on this one on the spot. Should've done some basic detective work previously. But I don't mind if you change or sell it like Forza suggested.
- Gave me an artificial vagina.
What, it's not a dildo (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,13743.msg913231.html#msg913231), is it? In fact it's the very opposite of one. And now you can "like" Reimu in new and exciting ways! (Lubricant not included, sorry.)
FYI, they also had not-Sakuya, not-Remi and not-Cirno ones. Not to mention not-Miku, not-Madoka, not-K-On, etc, etc...
- Gave me a whole bunch of awesome swag
Rating: Awesome.
Cacete, isso foi sensacional. Brigad?o cara, mesmo! :D
Glad you liked. :D But seriously, fuck the Brazilian postal system. Took them 3x the posting time from Japan to process and deliver it from SP to RJ.
As an addendum, I initially planned to send you some local booze (http://i.imgur.com/GuXWh.jpg) as well. A couple of Hitachino Nest microbrew ales (I already drank the other one), which is probably the best thing to ever come out of this sorry excuse for a prefecture. And a bottle of this weeabo umeshu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umeshu) that I found on the liquor store, because why not? Alas, I had even wrapped them in a fuckton of bubble wrap, but when I asked at the post office, they said I couldn't send liquor by mail to Brazil.

Derp. :V
Yeah was shite finding where the hell the package ended up, Correios didn't help at all either(they literally told me that they couldn't verify the address for me, and that anyone can sign the receipt and take the package, fuck you sir, nothing that can be done about it). Luckily the doorman of the neighbour address had it(you missed the number by 4 :V) and didn't doubt our story. :V
Also, why do you have so many names, are you royalty or something? :p
No, me dad's a dick. I just use my mother's name to sign things.
Gahh, major slip. I set out to Akiba looking for some Reimu figurine or similar, and decided on this one on the spot. Should've done some basic detective work previously. But I don't mind if you change or sell it like Forza suggested.
Nah it's cool, they look great together. I think I'm keeping them.
(Lubricant not included, sorry.)
... actually, it is.
addendum
Aw damn, that sounds great :( Weaboo liqueur looks hilarious
Yeah, most countries make it illegal to ship alcohol from and to them, but it's supposedly easy to make it not look like booze.
Also, your customs declaration is hilarious lol. Customs: "2 toys(no batteries)" Reality: "plushie doll and rubber vagina"
-
Started Mistborn! Pretty good so far.
-
Gotta love how cavalier and deadpan that note was.
"Have fun."
-
I am not quite sure HakureiSM, but somehow you just entered my book of crazy bros.
Reimu *****hole? Seriously Nietz? I thought you were quite innocent when I ran into you at Tokyo.
-
Actually, where did you get that Reimu doll, Nietz? They're sold out on the Gift Online website.
-
Reimu *****hole? Seriously Nietz? I thought you were quite innocent when I ran into you at Tokyo.
Well, I'm frequently described as "quiet" and "mild-mannered" which are adjectives that frequently come between "beware the" and "ones". :P
Actually, where did you get that Reimu doll, Nietz? They're sold out on the Gift Online website.
I got it at the Toranoana in Akihabara, they had a couple left when I went there.
Also, is it just me or they did a complete remodeling of the doujin items floor? I remember they used to have way more Touhou stuff before.
-
Wow, and here I thought that I sent the most perverted gift. P: Kudos, Nietz.
-
Well, I'm frequently described as "quiet" and "mild-mannered" which are adjectives that frequently come between "beware the" and "ones". :P
I don't like sticking clich? labels to people in general (like indeed, beware of the quiet ones), but you leave me no choice!
-
Nietz rolled scum like five times in a row at some point <3
I opened my gifts and took pictures, but passed out last night before I could upload them. I will attempt to do so at work today, else I will get to it this evening!
-
I fully expect a trip report filled with shame and regret from you HakureiSM
-
Yeah you wish
-
remember to clean it afterwards :smug:

I hate to break up this fascinating conversation about rubber vaginas, but THIS JUST IN!
So, like I said, I got a delivery notice from the post office. I went, picked up the package, came home, and saw a letter for me from California.
"Who the fuck do I know in California?," I asked myself, assuming that this letter can't have anything to do with the package. After all, why wouldn't it just come with the package? Or be in the box itself (which came from Michigan). The only person I remember knowing from California was this cute waitress I used to date back in '94 who had a wicked jealous alcoholic ex-husband. But no, she was from Meth County (a.k.a. Riverside) and this letter is not.
Then I opened the envelope, and everything became clear.
I'm going to transcribe what's written inside, as it doesn't show up on my laptop camera:
Holidays. Holidays never change. What were once days of celebration to spread good cheer have become increasingly commercialized and stressful. But holidays never change.
In light of this season I would like to wish you and yours a very merry season's greetings and a Happy New Year.
Hopefully you'll get some time to brew some tasty cider.
On the back of the card was this adorable Santamaru in thigh-high tights and garters (someone knows me VERY well here). My daughter, by the by, also loves Aya. Her she is making her sign for "bird" as we show the card:
Ah, but the package. That's the main deal. Well, here it is:
A whole bunch of ingredients for making 5 gallons (that's about 19 litres to the rest of the world) of hard cider - just add apple juice! As I already brew cider - and the person who sent this is aware of this - I fortunately have the equipment I need to ferment, siphon and bottle this stuff. If I start brewing now, I'll have 25 wine bottles of hard cider by first thaw.
The theme for 2013 is going to be "fuck sobriety".
Thank you, Secret Santa, whoever you are. This was clearly a personalized gift with my interests at heart, from Fallout to Aya to booze. I'll be sure to toast you Monday night!

THANK YOU PURVIS

Well, it is confirmed, Iji-Nobu is very much a real person thanks to magic xmas powers.
somewhere in the US now, a certain Iji-Nobu is probably waiting for me to go fondle her boobs.
oH look! something else is inside the package!
Hold on, just let me place Yui among my cosplay sewing set.
it is XMAS YUI! THANKS... how did you know I am into Yui???!!
So now... I shall attempt to...
No, it is not what you think, I will probably frame this in my apartment to prevent random guy friends popping in with 'dude, when was the last time you got laid?'

THE LARGE PACKAGE CONTAINED "SNOCAP!"
Snocap is pretty goddamn adorable and Inusakuya is currently perched (precariously) amongst his antlers. I fully admit I'm not sure what he's supposed to be though - a fuzzy white reindeer is my best guess. <_<
The last package was a cracker, the thing that you pull apart and it goes "pop". It gleefully went "pop" but I did not get a larger individual picture of it.
Thank you, werepuppy!
-
HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THAT SOME SHIMAPAN / STRIPED UNDIES?
Shimapan is bestopan.
But there's something about that Yui figurine that I just can't unsee...
-
But there's something about that Yui figurine that I just can't unsee...
Yes, that is quite disturbing now you're mentioning it. Oh god.
-
I thought it was intentional.

I thought it was intentional.
Especially after what Nobu said.
-
Edible: There was something inside the cracker. :V
Also, i handmade that with wrapping paper and ribbon and stuff.
Also, my secret santa arrived O__O
Will be getting pics up in a moment....
-
I love how I joked about a certain someone sending Puppy-chan the Secret Santa gift a couple weeks back...
And it turns out I was right when it shows up. :V
How do I know? Their MotK name was clearly written on the box. :derp:
-
I'm going to guess who my Secret Santa was.
Mine knew I like Aya, which is no secret on this site. But they also knew I brew cider, which only older members would be likely to know.
But it's the Fallout reference that really narrows it down. I have posted next to nothing about Fallout on MotK, but have said quite a bit about it on Facebook.
So my Secret Santa is one of my MotK Facebook friends. And with a California return address, that means it must have been YOU, Jana!
:justasplanned:
-
So I woke up and wandered out to find this parcel waiting for me in the hallway...
Opening it up...
Welp seems to be a box, and some sort of plushie wrapped in bubble wrap..
Wait.. is that...?
RAN-SAMA!!! ~
And in the box...
Wow.. look at all those figures.. and is that some sort of rubix cube...?
It's a TOUHOU RUBIX CUBE! O___O I'm terrible at these, but i'm sure Kanjou will help me solve it ~
Also hidden among the figurines...
Touhou badges! These are so cool XD
Lastly all the gifts arranged together (had to move them to a flat surface, since the figurines wouldn't stay standing on the bed).
And a close up of the figurines...
Some from Haruhi and Evangelion!
Thank you YJ!! ^____^
*snuggles the Ran-plushie*
-
Continuing on from post made before...
So on a technicality, YJ has sent something to me 2 years in a row. (Living in same address as Puppy-chan is the 'technicality.') :V
Also, this means we have two of the same figures now : the Haruhi and Mikuru one. Nagato is the same figure (bunny & pose) but different colour. (Puppy has a red one.)
But yeah, a very nice selection. And some irony seeing as we agreed to send the Eva comics out. :derp:
-
Eyem sorry eye was low on funds
I had to buy stuff for Pesco too
GOOD LUCK KANJOU ON THE CUBE POST PICS OF IT ONCE SOLVED K
-
Sorry you didn't get the package in time for Christmas A-F xD I was debating whether or not sending you a pair of my undies would either offend you or make you drown in appreciation. I'm glad it was the latter! Then again, I think you and I both understand the appeal of side-tie striped panties!
@Vic Vooper - Thanks for throwing yet another successful CPSS, Vic. I've given up at trying to guess who my SSes are, especially after the fiasco with the thrown out drawing u.u;;
-

It was more than enough, and it's nice to have a set of figurines that i can call mine! I've not got anime figurines in years XD
*still snuggling Ran-plushie-sama~*
-
@Vic Vooper - Thanks for throwing yet another successful CPSS, Vic.
I have to say the same thing. And also thanks for letting a newbie like me to participate. It was great (stressfull) fun!
Speaking of which...
@Venappo,
I'm glad you enjoyed your bubblewrap, oh and the presents I used as padding ofcourse.
I was really worried the package would either disappear, especially after the post office sent it wrong, or get damaged.
Therefore, and I admit, I might have gone a bit overboard with the packaging.
And since it was my first time, I was really worried about what to gift. I'm really happy that you liked it.
-
Edible: There was something inside the cracker. :V
Also, i handmade that with wrapping paper and ribbon and stuff.
That explains why it looked approximately a million times fancier than any other cracker I'd seen!
I was a little inebriated when opening, so I will double check for the contents. I think it may have flown in a random direction when I opened it. :V
-
Going to put out that I haven't received my present yet. A little worried because usually gifts to SG don't take that long.
Would my partner please check his or her tracking?
-
cider
I'm still waiting on your cider recipe :<
It's Jana
Wrong state. Guess again.
@Vic Vooper - Thanks for throwing yet another successful CPSS, Vic.
You're welcome. Running this is always my favorite time of the year.
Going to put out that I haven't received my present yet. A little worried because usually gifts to SG don't take that long.
Would my partner please check his or her tracking?
Tracking number has been PMd to you.
We are all still waiting on gift posts from:
- Maullar - Out of town
- Reddyne - Whose gift has arrived but is probably still at the office
- Drake
- YJ
- pasu
- Jana - Posted that his package arrived AND IS JUST PLAIN LAZY!!!!!!! >=|
Drake, YJ and pasu's gifts are all still stuck in shipping apparently
-
Well, the cider mix was from Michigan and the letter from Cali. Coulda sworn Jana was in Cali, but either way, the sauce thickens!
And I will post my recipe directly, so everyone can get loaded at first thaw. EVERYONE! /garyoldman
-
Sorry I've been lazy. Christmas at home is very busy since my family plays host to 14 people and only 2 people were around to prepare/put away everything that went into it. In addition, I'm finishing up a costume commission that's up for submission and I was just hired as a Quality Engineer which means I'm undergoing the onboarding process for work, too. Quite the Christmas present, that was. I should be able to write something up by the end of the day.
-
I was just hired as a Quality Engineer
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upon further reflection, I think this is the first year we actually had some NSFW presents sent out

Confirms Haku and Nietz as the biggest pervs of the lot :V

I was a little inebriated when opening, so I will double check for the contents. I think it may have flown in a random direction when I opened it. :V
It was my first time making one with the cracker snap included though, glad to know it worked ^^
There should be a certain pony-shaped model inside, and a touhou-related joke on some folded paper :V
I also made the lion keychain to make it look as close to your avatar as possible, and yes.. the plushie is a reindeer. XD
-
Jesus, you MADE that keychain? That's slick. :O
I found Applejack, she had flown halfway across the room. The paper is... I'll let you know when I find it... <_<
-
Confirms Haku and Nietz as the biggest pervs of the lot :V
I didn't send anything perverted :<
Nobu got Nietz beat too, if you ask me :V
-
I sent Rawr a partial tentacle monster conversion. Is that pervy?
-
I neither sent nor received anything perverted.
However, the drawing of Aya in tights and garters on the back of my card - whoah baby! Hubba hubba.
-
HakureiSM's onahole is something perverted. AF's shimapan
make me jealous are pretty borderline. Nothing else really counts.

OK. Got a permanent visit from these two chuckleheads of SCIENCE!
Talking bobbleheads of Adam Savage (eyebrows included) and Jamie Hyneman! Suitably enough, Adam's the one strapped to the rocket with Jamie holding the launch button. Clearly this is a horrible decision as Adam throws off the center of mass of the rocket, bears nothing for aerodyamic stability, and boosts the profile of the rocket, creating extra drag. Oh, and I'm sure being strapped to a rocket is unsafe or somesuch. They're made of some durable and rather weighty material whose compressive, tensile, and torsional strength I would enjoy testing in an Instron had it not been for the visages of these two patron saints of violent energy release and destructive testing.
These two would go great either at the apartment for personal inspiration or potentially at the desk at work in case I need a bit of encouragement. Blessedly, the talking function does not activate by making the heads bobble, which I imagine could make them sensitive to the point that they might go off randomly in the middle of the night. Instead, it's activated by pushing a button on the base of their respective stands, tripping a pressure transducer, which signals the playback of one of several pre-recorded quips played randomly, creating pressure waves which travel at approximately in 1236 kph in air (consisting of mostly nitrogen, oxygen, and trace gases. This will vary depending on temperature, pressure, and liquids/gases present). As the vibrations reach the ear, they are conducted mechanically prior to signal transduction, allowing them to travel to and be recognized by the Wernicke's area in the temporal lobe of the brain.
...Except I forgot to put batteries in them. Expecting a heaping helping of "I reject your reality and substitute my own", "failure is always an option", and "when in doubt, C4" once I do. Until then, they'll be proving once again that the ladies (and Airman) love men of science. (http://i.imgur.com/CultM.jpg)
With the name, location, nature of the gift, and limited mannerisms present, I'd wager this is from Jam-Kiske/Jana's kid sister or a clever act of deception. Either that or I botched the perception check. Based on some of the goodies I've seen here, y'all can be pretty keen with the swag.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know. More than 5 and half years after graduation, 6 temp jobs, dozens of interviews in several states, hundreds of phone calls and thousands of applications after I first began looking for a job, I finally found a place to hang my lab coat. I don't hang my hat up since that needs to go in the biohazard disposables bin with the nitrile gloves.

Congratulations on (freaking finally) landing a job, bro o7

4- or should i say 3? - days after Christmas, my gift arrived!

As for your identity, I guess I just have to check who lives in Canada or something ow o

There's only one part missing - who made and sent this excellent gift? Going by the illustration style on the card, I'm pretty certain that pasu sent this. In which case, more Pasuheads galore!
Regardless whether that is correct or not, many thanks for this! :3
Yeah!!!! Bingo!! Actually for some strange reason I missed the fact that you were a pasuism follower since I only checked the SS details once and started working on the Reimu and would have made a Max plushie/hat or something;;;; but all the same I'm glad you like it!! Venappo was the one that actually made the Black Box :3 since I started work on the Reimu after my exams ended (which was precariously near the deadline for sending packages, damn glad it arrived on time)
-
Hehe :V
No need to fret over the lack of Sam & Max-themed goodies - the Reimu is fantastic on its own! :3
-
With the name, location, nature of the gift, and limited mannerisms present, I'd wager this is from Jam-Kiske/Jana's kid sister or a clever act of deception.
How da fuq?
Also I'll bug Jana to put up images of his stuff. He won't stop playing the game I got him for Christmas...
-
Which game is it
-
Samurai Warriors Chronicles for the 3DS. He just stands around with his 3DS all day.
Also I've realized it shouldn't be hard to deduce who my Secret Santa is at this point, or at least narrow it down... but then I tried, and I have no idea where anyone lives so even getting rid of the people who have already been revealed as certain other's Secret Santas doesn't help me.

Tell Jana I'm going to ban him if he doesn't post today >=|

Sorry it took me so long to get around to it. The gift I got was a t-shirt with a cute picture of Patchouli on it! I don't know anything about the sender aside from the fact that the gift came from Thailand. I'll have to check the names and see who is from there and hasn't been identified yet!
I'm not very good at taking pictures, so hopefully it isn't too blurry or anything. [1] (http://imgur.com/OYwGv) [2] (http://i.imgur.com/UP1ca.jpg)

Agreed, send me more

Happy daikazoku again.

It's funny that Reimu 2 has much darker hair than Reimu 1.
Everyone's packed now though, except the two plushies and C3PO. I'm moving, so the kids will have to live in a box for the next 2 weeks or so
-
The nitrile gloves.
YEA BUDDY. Congratulations Red, very happy for you.
Been diligently narrowing down possible senders. Got it down to three, so I'm hazarding Jq1790; my other primary suspects are Zent and Negazero, with the off-chance it's Vic.

I honestly have no clue and can't even begin to guess. ???

Plushies aren't like figures in terms of how derpy they look when counterfeited.

I don't really know, I just wanted to make a Mamizou joke

Just got back in town and I nearly trip over this damned thing coming in.
"Oh right, I was supposed to open this," I think to myself. Whatever, no big deal--another bauble for th'ol' shelf. You see, in my family, we're not super big on holidays or really anything having to do with emotions; none of us have exchanged presents for at least 5 or 6 years. Therefore, I've been sort of inured to the joy of Christmas, the spirit of giving, that sort of thing. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that as long as the package doesn't contain live fire ants, at this moment I'm treating it as just another thing to check off the return list, between 'turn heat back on' and 'check out bound anime tits on Danbooru.' Anyway, here goes--

Jesus Christ this is amazing, like my heart just literally grew three sizes today which will inevitably result in cardiac complications down the road but I don't even care how did you even
(http://i.imgur.com/CgLRS.jpg)
The waifu approves as well. Whoever you are, you've taught me the true meaning of Christmas. Now I shall go buy bulk quantities of eggnog on post-holiday sale and pour it over sad street urchins' heads. That is how it works, right?
-
Oh good god that is a glorious gift.
-
A glorious haul, Maullar.
So, this just leaves YJ and Drake's presents unposted now, yes?
-
that said remind me to ship leaves to you when i finally find the right box to do so
I- okay? :V
seconded, i'll make a leaf and mamizou tail out of felt which hopefully can be attached to the reimu
slam jam
oh my god
-
Asshat delivery guy left a failure-to-deliver notice on my door without ringing the doorbell or even knocking on the door, from what I can tell. I should be able to pick it up tomorrow.
-
A glorious haul, Maullar.

Yeah, and according to tracking YJ's gift got delivered yesterday.

Once everyone's posted their swag, will we then get the Secret Santa Big Reveal?

This year gifting consisted of two closed circles, last year it was three. For the second year in a row triangles was in the smaller circle while MJP was in the largest. With only 5 people in the small circle, we were close to having just one circle of gifting, which would have owned.

Probably horribly incomplete/wrong, but ??? (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AsLpblq-YgbddHRDdzkwNE92Z2toekJNRWR4MWwxWnc)

...I have this dandy box! Cat is interested!
Written on the customs declaration is "Book (No battery)". This is very foreign and intriguing, the concept of books without batteries.
Well, we open it up and find...

With the limited amount of information given, I choose... JQ! Thank you very much!

Kinoko sent to: Mr. Bob
!!!!
Dang, my guess was wrong, though you did make the first round of elimination. You are wise in the ways of package-fu.

Also, I'm like 2/3 through Well of Ascension.
Does anything uh start happening? So far it's been pretty much Elend being an unbearable cunt.

There's really only a couple of people who could've sent mine
Guess who "a couple" referred to! <_<
-
I had a sneaking suspicion but I was sure we someone already mentioned who HakureiSM had shipped to. I dunno. Isn't someone else from Brazil?
-

I am, but I'm currently living in Japan. Which makes the fact that I drew Haku as partner an amusing coincidence.
-
Yeap, thought so. My original guess was Dular, but once I got the tracking info I went for JQ because he posted closer to the order date. Dular posted the 9th and the whole "I was going to send a personal gift and an actual gift" made me figure he was sending both from Canada and was sending after that post date so he became second guess. Derp.
I find it uncanny that one of the two people living in Canada that participated sends a gift to the one other Canadian but orders it from Japan through an importing website for Europeans. Seriously what.
I CAN PASU

Wouldn't that pretty much double the shipping price?

Well, it was one of the three I suspected after all!
Thanks again Maccabees!
The book is really interesting and got me quite hooked.

Everywhere I looked said that Singapore was SGP not SIN, which makes sense considering the two digit code is SG. I could be wrong though, it's happened before.

Both Brazilians and both Canadians got paired up, how amusing.

Thank you for the gifts Chaore! I've already expressed my delight, but now I will again!~~

It was a bright and sunny morning.
Koishi's hat appeared upon the already opened package as I reached home from school. Apparently because my mom thought it was a bomb. First thing I noticed was a note on my table. Someone wanted to imitate my hand writing or they have bad handwriting or they did it on purpose. Koishi presented me the letter.
stop judging my bed yes that is a kendo sword on the left yes that is the side of a remilia pillow yes that is a bunch of soft toys
(http://i1146.photobucket.com/albums/o527/AzerWrath/050120130061_zpsa2631905.jpg)
Because it was already opened and a wall-scroll was presented on my table too, I could'nt get a picture of it wrapped up. So, I just hung the poster up.

Ehehe. Now that I've been exposed, I'm glad you liked them! I was a bit worried I'd mess up and give something a bit too small or something, which is why I bothered Jana for a bit of help :v
That said the fact you coincidentally had many same interests REALLY HELPED :V
-
oh no whats with all the puns
I LOVE PUNS
thank you once again drake (can!)! my prettiful medicine will now forever be by my side

I think we need some storytime here as to what chain of logic led to that conclusion.

Another successful year, gang. This time with even more than the usual number of people, which means a good deal more newcomers, too.
-
It finally arrived! Sorry it took so long, if I would have known I would have swam there and delivered it myself, would have been faster. I've been checking the tracking for a while expecting it to end up back at my house but I'm glad it made it.
My whole family was jealous of this secret santa thing, they really thought this was cool. Now that I'm back home I'm going to get working on Imosa's present!
-
I'd say it's about time to wrap this thread up. Thanks again to everyone for participating!
See you again in November!
