Yes, they will defend an area once you build them. They should attack most mobs whether or not villagers are around. The only difference between the natural Iron Golem and the one that you build is that only the natural one will defend a set of villagers from players.

C3 Corporate City's residential district has been established; walls have been built around the perimeter and the terrain has been paved over and lit up. To protect the population and reduce property damage, districts will be compartmentalized and walled off from each other. Work on factory/mining areas will be next, I've already found some prospective caves under the town to work with.

Alright. I built a Villager breeding room in the northeast corner of the settlement. Turns out that we can spawn variations of villagers now. :3 I spawned a few and left them to do their thing.

When you have enough villagers, destroy the room.

Thanks. I'll probably leave the spawner until I've built up some more, if I'm lucky the spawner's effect will carry over to anything I build in the adjacent subdivisions.

to stuffman/strafe: i have a recipe idea. everyone gets an overwhelming amount of gravel while mining and have nothing to use it for. so something that confused me for a long time was, why can't you smelt gravel into cobble? well, that's basically the request. can you please make it so we can? :3

Nah. To be honest, cobblestone is already plentiful enough. You can already mine for it or combine lava and water to make a cobble production machine. That, and some people use gravel for various things. Decoration, flint, etc.

Although, I think I'll add a Saddle recipe once 1.4 comes out. Some design requiring leather..

Villagers will also do 10 gravel + 1 emerald -> 2-3 flint conversion if you are really having difficulty with getting flint yourself (eg. exclusively using the torch trick to clear gravel).

my Smeltery is complete! it has 143 furnaces but is still needing to be filled the rest of the way with coal/charcoal. I personally love how it looks. fairly basic but hardy.

the purpose of it is for people to get their items such as cobble, sand, food, anything smeltable smelted fast and in mass numbers. This IS a business and has a price. it's 1 emerald per stack until you reach 10 stacks then the price lowers to 8 emerald. (this stacks as well. ex: 20 stacks = 16 emeralds)

So, I am going to be starting a mega project soon after getting a new comp. If any of you want to help, I have put up a donation chest in the donation building for various material listed on sign.

For those who want to know more, this mega project is the building of a large tower which would go all the way to the height limit...or close enough anyway. It will have Base of around 17x17, a stalk of around 9x9 or 11x11 and top of around 15x15. (These specifications are subject to change once building commences or I go build a prototype in creative..)

If you want to help in more then just giving donations, post on this thread or contact me with a PM and we can discuss things like time available, the overall design of the tower and/or the details of the tower.

If you do donate, I thank you in advance as I probably won't be on at the same time as you and won't know who donated stuff....

Yes, this is a huge project that would probably require thousands of materials and would be a long time to build when not in creative but I always really liked the idea of legitimately building something so tall you can see forever.....

Towers reaching skybox eh? Mine used to do the same, with dimensions of 27 x 27 x 128 before applying the warp shrine on top. Took about 4 months to make that and dig out all the floors underneath, so have fun ~

Though I really need to build a replacement as I'm running out of space there. Of course, it'll be more complex. :V

I've always wanted to make a Fernsehturm Berlin to scale, but at 368 metres it's still impossible.
I began to start a smaller one back in DDR's server, but then that went down. Maybe when I figure out what's motivation I'll try to do another scaled down version hitting the current skybox.
