>Heading toward the beach, it is empty. This isn't surprising, there's only a small neighborhood around it, this is hardly a tourist or party area. The sky is dark, but there's a surprising amount of visibility from the reflection of city light in the distance. The ocean seems pretty calm, you aren't really familiar with it but the waves don't seem that high or nasty. The beach is kind of nasty, though. There's a fair amount of trash that has probably been washing in for heaven knows how long. Looking around, you think you can see someone some distance down the beach, to the northwest.
