Sanae Quest (Part 2)

[日巫子]

> Flash her a small, confident grin. "Don't worry, I'm tougher than a bunch of peepers. Believe in me."
> Back to Beanbag Girl. "Excuse me, wake up!"
> Continue building that divine power, and shuffle, with Momoe in tow, towards the closest window.

< You grin at Monoe and assure her that it's fine.
< Monoe blinks, then smiles a little.
< You call out to the beanbag girl again and shuffle towards the nearest window with Monoe.  As you do this, you continue building on your divine power.  As you walk, ferns sprout out of the floorboards.
< One of the girl's eyes open (oh, she has blue eyes).  She clutches the beanbag and sits up, drawing her knees to her chest.  The black space underneath her widens.

[Hello Purvis]

>"Excuse me, could you tell us where we are? And what's with all the eyes?"

[Sect]

> Glance at the black space, then back up at the girl.
> Keep the divinity flowing!
> Hook the curtains covering the window with our gohei and flick them open.

>"Excuse me, could you tell us where we are? And what's with all the eyes?"

< "This is the Pastel Shoal World."  There is the girl's voice, and then a woman's voice on top of that.  Disconcerting.  She looks rather out-of-it.  "These...eyes..."  For a brief moment, it's just the girl's voice.  "...They're normal."

> Glance at the black space, then back up at the girl.
> Keep the divinity flowing!
> Hook the curtains covering the window with our gohei and flick them open.

< You glance at the black space.  The eyes rattle and stretch onto the walls.  Monoe lets out a terrified squeak.
< Keeping this divinity flowing is no problem!
< Using your gohei, you flick open the curtains and send light spilling into the room.  The black space instantly retreats into the natural shadows of the room, and the beanbag girl squints and rubs her eyes.  She drops her beanbag, and it sinks into the floor.

> Smile, and stride confidently to each window, opening up their curtains.
> "Really, you need to get more sunlight in here. Keep creepies away. I'm Sanae, and this is Momoe. What's your name?"

< Much better.  You go to each window and open the curtains.
< The girl watches you do so with squinted eyes and the expression of someone shaken awake.
< You introduce yourself and Monoe and ask the girl what her name is.
< "Poniko."  She still sounds like she has two voices.

> "So, Poniko, what do you do here? Why do you have two voices? What are those eyes? Mind if I purify this place? Have you seen anyone else around here?"

[Hello Purvis]

>"Can you teach me how to do that two voices thing?"

< "Urghh, I was trying to sleep," she complains, rubbing her eyes.  "I'm the only one who lives here.  Don't purify my room, please."

>"Can you teach me how to do that two voices thing?"

< Poniko shakes her head.  "It's not like I have two voices because I want to."

[Sect]

> Frown. "Aww..." Let go of the divine power.
> "So, why do you have two voices, then? It's creepy. And a little cool. It's... croolpy?"

> Frown. "Aww..." Let go of the divine power.

< Aw, man...
< You ask Poniko why she has two voices.
< "That's because someone else is here."  Poniko grabs a pillow from her bed and lounges on it.  A black space appears under the shadow it creates, but she doesn't seem to mind.  "She could probably control my body if she wanted to."

> "'She'?" Frown intensely. "Don't tell me she's making you do bad things! As a shrine maiden I won't allow it!"
> Glance over at Momoe. How's she doing?

> "'She'?" Frown intensely. "Don't tell me she's making you do bad things! As a shrine maiden I won't allow it!"
> Glance over at Momoe. How's she doing?

< There's no way you're standing for this!
< "Ermgh, she keeps trying to bring out Uboa--" Monoe shivers.  "--for some reason."
< You look over at Monoe.  She seems to be doing better now.

[Sect]

> "Uboa? Who's that? Are we gonna have to purify someone?" Slap our gohei into our palm.

< "Please don't, he's my other half.  That would hurt me."

[Sect]

> "Oh." Whoops.
> "Erm, so, who's this person trying to bring out your 'other self', then?"

> "Oh." Whoops.
> "Erm, so, who's this person trying to bring out your 'other self', then?"

< Oh.
< "I don't know, but she kind of looks like me..."  Poniko curls up a little on the pillow.

< "Umm, I think she wanted to find someone.  I don't know where she is."

> "Huh, and this other half of you can find that someone? Hey, wait a minute, is she listening to us right now?"
> Poniko is being helpful, and we are kind of being a bit rude, so let's go ahead and shut one of the curtains, the one that shines directly on Poniko.

< "Well, it's more of the matter of being able to go where that someone is, apparently.  And I don't know if she's listening or not."
< Maybe you're being kind of rude...you shut one of the curtains that's shining light directly on Poniko.  She relaxes and closes her eyes.
< "Hahh..."  Poniko opens one of her eyes and looks over at Monoe.  "Aslk'slk iwou ni nwoiu'si;kj?"
< Monoe blinks in surprise and nods.

>"Heh? What did you just say?"

< Monoe glances over at you.  "She asked...if I was from the Monochrome Desert..."

>"What kind of language was that, then? I'm pretty sure that wasn't Japanese, was it?"

[Sect]

> "So, you know what's what around here, then, Poniko? Anything or anybody interesting we should look into?"

< "It doesn't really have a name, but everyone here can speak it."

> "So, you know what's what around here, then, Poniko? Anything or anybody interesting we should look into?"

< "This place is so vast that you'd get lost exploring it, but for a long time now it's been crumbling away.  There's really nothing of interest here anymore."

> Frown, then try speaking that language.
> "It's been crumbling away? What happened? Where's it crumbling away at?"

< You try imitating the language.  Monoe giggles.
< "The one who dreamed us into existence long ago is gone, so this place is wasting away into empty space.  Those with more of a presence, though, are able to stay around.  Like her."  Poniko gestures to Monoe.
