> You are Alice, a magician living within the Forest of Magic.
> You specialize in handling dolls, and your current goal above others is creating a doll capable of life by itself. An autonomous doll.
> Your day began with a weird dream, one of your past self and your encounter with the Hakurei Shrine Maiden in Makai. You awoke after your defeat, but your body had stung as if you had just fought.
> Currently, you are near the Youkai Mountain with your two main dolls, Shanghai and Hourai, as well as a doll grown to a larger size, and a Goliath doll, grown to reach past trees and houses.
> Do we know any way of compressing energies?
> You don't think so.
>_
-
> Take our distance from Goliath. This might get bad...
> Once we are sure everything's fine, try to compress the growth energy within Goliath. Motion with our hands if necessary and try with all our might to do so. Don't 'crush' the energy, though? We don't want to make it explode so quickly...
-
> Have we tried the growth magic on other humanoid living beings, such as the humans themselves?
> You have not.
You asked this and then didn't go anywhere with it? bruh :V
-
//At that moment I didn't wanted to risk ourselves (or anyone else) to explode due to our 'explosive' growth magic. But now that I know that Goliath explodes because it can't handle so much energy, I think the growth magic is safe.
-
> Take our distance from Goliath. This might get bad...

> You get back some...
> You try to 'compress' the energy within Goliath, focusing it together at smaller parts rather than spread out...
> Well, it's seeming to work...
>_
-
> Nothing bad is happening to it, right?
> Continue as we see (feel?) fit.
> Can we determine if Goliath is less full than before?
-
> Nothing bad is happening to it, right?

> Not that you know of.
> You continue...
> You think she is...
> The magic is beginning to spread out again.
>_
-
> Compress those parts.
> If we know how to do such thing, try using the life energy and try to enclose the growth energy in a sphere which is the life energy itself. If this works, then the compressed growth energy should be unable to spread out by the barrier made of life energy.
> Stop anything immediately if we have an explosive feeling.
-
> Compress those parts.

If things are going to rip, growing ourselves should be experimented with at home rather than in public. That being said, growing ourselves is not an urgent thing - if you'd rather do other stuff, I will of course defer to you, and growing ourselves can be shelved until a later downtime.
-
//We all know that growing stuff isn't necessary, but more to satisfy our awkward desire for bigness. Needless to say, that doesn't mean I'm not up for it :V

The money thing is there to be resolved, yes, but with all the experimenting done so far, I'm not sure we'll have enough left to put on a proper show, and there are no other obvious quests, either main or side. Given that, I'd be ready to head home and experiment some more.

I haven't decided. Part of me is tempted to act like nothing is wrong just for the yuks, but I'm more likely to be stoic and matter-of-fact about it while brushing it off as if it is less important than whatever we came to see someone about. That feels like that most Alicey thing to do.

//Do you intend to have ourselves get out some time like this? If so, visiting Marisa for the lulz wouldn't be in the order of the day? :V
-
//Yeah, I more or less set my heart on 'continuing going about our day as if nothing is out of the ordinary'. I just wasn't sure about where to go.
//I'm also curious if our reserves will refill overnight while what is in use stays in use (that is, we stay our current size (or larger) while sleeping and then wake up to still being that same size but with completely refreshed magic reserves). That's a long ways off, though.
-
//Actually, I'm wondering about something...

> Who even needs money in Gensokyo?: You are a bit low on funds. It's nothing worrying, but you might want to consider getting a bit more than you have now.
> Goliath and Co: One of your unique dolls, Goliath, needs improvement. It's currently unfinished, and cannot function well in battle for long periods of time. You've considered trying to get other dolls to that level and see how they'll work, in order to see what it'll take for Goliath to work optimally.
> The Puppetmaster (Finished!): You want to know if it's possible to control someone with your doll manipulation... Now that you know, what will be done with this...?
> Big girl status: Curiosity has led to a more useful magic within you than you had before. The method for growing dolls now seems to affect you as well. You haven't tried it on anyone else yet.
> Unassigned: You haven't actively decided to list other objectives you want to pursue. Please list some you would like to, and they will be recorded~

So we need much bux. Thus, I propose we visit places where money happen, such as the human village or maybe youkai mountain? Also to show off~

>What is our status with the various power blocs of Gensokyo? That is, SDM, Eientei, the kappa, the tengus, and so on.
>Actually, who do count as the power blocs?
> You don't know Nitori that much... You are sort of interested in Patchouli. Her magic seems strong. Though you know she'll hardly ever go outside, maybe you just need to go inside.
> Sakuya, the head maid, seems very proper. She appears to use her knives very well for long ranged combat and possibly close combat. Her time manipulation is interesting.
> You're a familiar face at Eientei. You know a bit of Reisen. She sometimes sells medicine elsewhere. You also know of Eirin, of course. You still wonder if she'll have something greater for you one day.
> Obviously, everyone knows Aya. And Aya probably knows them too... You encountered her recently.
>_

So I am thinking. Let us seek out a settlement. In particular, we may do better with fellow youkai, so why not hit up the kappa and maybe the tengu if they're suffer us?
>What do we know of the tengu and kappa communities?

So I am thinking. Let us seek out a settlement. In particular, we may do better with fellow youkai, so why not hit up the kappa and maybe the tengu if they're suffer us?
>What do we know of the tengu and kappa communities?
> Not much. You believe that Tengu are quite quick, while Kappa are geniuses in their areas. Though, you haven't witnessed either of these, aside from Aya's displays. They might be able to be found at the mountain.
>_
-
So yeah, let's go to Youkai Mountain, see what opportunities exist, and fault off newfound bigness?
-
I have no problem with that. I think another visit to Reimu at some point is in order, but that can wait until we have actual business with her, since it's hard to pretend like it's no big deal we're twelve feet tall now in front of her when we show up at her doorstep with nothing of significance to say.
-
//That moment would be when we know we are sure that it's okay to go to Makai. We can pass by the shrine to say hi before we go to Shinki's world.
Also, I don't have any problem with the show off at the Youkai Mountain.
//Should we visit Marisa now that I proposed it to our dolls, though?
-
Sorry, was catching up on the prior thread. Anyways: Isn't Marisa super pissed at us right now for the whole mind control deal? Like, it's not necessarily a bad idea, but I think we'd have to be ready to make some amends, and like have a plan for that sort of thing?
-
//... Was she?
*Reads previous part*
Ah, right... She seemed upset when we 'controlled her will' in the experiment. I totally forgot about it. Yea, it would be good to make a proper way to handle that out, instead of 'Hi. Oh? This? I just grew.'.
-
Frankly, I think we're gonna have to let Marisa take the first steps as far as personal interaction goes. Or at least not just barge in. Perhaps an apology letter, then wait?
>Could we trust a doll to deliver a letter to Marisa's house reliably; provided no faeries or youkais or other such unexpected things happen?
>Assuming yes, could we trust said doll to bring back a response if Marisa wished to give one?

//I highly doubt that Marisa is the type of person that cares in what way someone approaches to her, so I guess a letter would do it. She isn't going to say something like 'You don't care about our relationship enough, since you aren't coming to talk with me personally.' Yeah, that's not something I would hear from Marisa's mouth.

I feel it's more polite to communicate from a distance than just going and petitioning for forgiveness.

> You do a vertical spin, just like in the games. and your dolls move a bit back to avoid you.
> You don't think you're taller...
> You feel great... fantastic. Like you've just woken up. Your magic feels like it's all back, and maybe even more is there.
> You don't feel any magic that wasn't here previously.
> "W-Well, it works on others too then..." Marisa turns. "How does it feel?"

>_

>_

>Heck, let's plow through a smaller tree, one that wouldn't be too painful if we were to just run over it without the mushroom's influence.
> You laugh as you continue, heading for a tree.
> Without losing speed, you run through the tree, hearing a loud snap, before watching a majority of the tree fall over.
> Rather than trip on part of the grounded tree, it breaks further from your rush, getting knocked out of the way. You still hardly feel anything, pain-related at least.
> You begin to flash.

> "Huh. What about on someone that's already lived long? How would it effect them?" Marisa inquires. "Maybe it'd go in reverse?"
> Your dolls arrive.

>_
-
> "Well, dangerous if someone with bad intentions tried to increase the time it lasts... but you have a point there. It's not like we are going to go tell everyone about this research."

Wait, how old is Marisa? Because Touhou's time tracks roughly to real time, and she's been at it for some years now. I don't think she's a kid anymore?
>"Though I wouldn't mind trying it on a few others just see what happens."

>"Odd, we tried two at once before, and all it did was make the effect last longer, didn't it?"
>"That was more like one, then another later. We haven't tried eating the whole pair at once. Well, I never presented it for you like that either I guess..."
>_
-
>"True, I suppose,"
>"So...who does the honors?"
-
>"True, I suppose,"
>"So...who does the honors?"
> "We're trying it already?"
>_
-
>"Is there some reason we should not?"
-
>"Is there some reason we should not?"
> "Can't think of a good enough one."
>_
-
>"So, who should do the honors, then?"
-
>"So, who should do the honors, then?"
> "I'll go for it." Marisa says. "Don't want you destroying the whole forest."
>_
-
>Nod.
>"Then let's do it!"
-
>Nod.
>"Then let's do it!"
> Marisa holds her hands out.
>_
-
>Hand her a pair matched pair of mushrooms.
-
>Hand her a pair matched pair of mushrooms.
> You place a pair in Marisa's hands.
> "Here we go again." Marisa quickly gobbles up the mushrooms.
>_
-
>Give her a little room, and observe!
-
>Give her a little room, and observe!
> You back up a bit and watch.
> Marisa begins to flash as before.
>_
-
>"How does it feel?"
>Continue to observe.
-
>"How does it feel?"
>Continue to observe.
> "Just like last time." Marisa says.
> Marisa's form changes, and that glorious witch appears once again.
> You think she might be a bit bigger than before.
>_
-
>Compare her height to our current one.
>"You seem a bit taller than last time."
-
>Compare her height to our current one.
>"You seem a bit taller than last time."
> Marisa is still shorter than you. She's about near chest height.
> "Yes, there's a few differences already..." Marisa says.
>_
-
>"Oh, what else?" I say. "Geez...you have to be close to nine feet tall!"
-
>"Oh, what else?" I say. "Geez...you have to be close to nine feet tall!"
> "Feels like I have more magic than last time. And stronger as well. I'm really itching to fire something off you know."
>_
-
>Gesture toward the sky. "Well then, by all means."
-
>Gesture toward the sky. "Well then, by all means."
> Marisa nods, retrieving her mini-hakkero.
> She aims it towards the sky and closes her eyes.
> The device begins to glow.
>_
-
>Give her plenty of room.
-
>Give her plenty of room.
> You back up more.
> A large laser is fired, rougly the size of a master spark, if not greater.
> It cuts a clean path through the air, seemingly erasing what's in it's way.
>_
-
>"...Was that actually a Master Spark?"
-
>"...Was that actually a Master Spark?"
> "No. Still something great though." Marisa says, admiring her work. She seems a bit shorter now.
>_
-
>"Well, it seems to have drained something from you."
>Quietly hold a hand at her current head level to emphasize her diminishing.
>Try to estimate how much she shrank.
-
>"Well, it seems to have drained something from you."
>Quietly hold a hand at her current head level to emphasize her diminishing.
>Try to estimate how much she shrank.
> "Really?" Marisa inquires.
> You check her-...
> Ah, she hadn't shrunken. Rather, she's lodged into the ground a bit.
>_
-
>Look down, then laugh. "My mistake! Are you stuck?"
-
>Look down, then laugh. "My mistake! Are you stuck?"
> "Stuck?" Marisa looks down. "Ah... Actually, let me try something else now..."
> Marisa bends and holds her hakkero as if looking into it as it glows.
>_
-
>Observe. We trust her, for the most part. Since we've opened some distance, anyways.
-
>Observe. We trust her, for the most part. Since we've opened some distance, anyways.
> You watch...
> Marisa blasts herself with another laser. It seemed significantly weaker than before however.
> She hardly appears scathed at all after it dissipates.
>_
-
>"Feel anything?"
-
>"Feel anything?"
> "Not much. These are incredible."
>_
-
>Grin.
>"Tell me about it. Have you noticed anything else? Anything new or notable?"
-
>Grin.
>"Tell me about it. Have you noticed anything else? Anything new or notable?"
> "I'm much stronger... I feel greater... This- mm... Feels wonderful."
>_
-
>Chuckle. "You certainly look the part! Try lifting something heavy?"
-
>Chuckle. "You certainly look the part! Try lifting something heavy?"
> Marisa smirks and lifts her chest slightly.
>_
-
>"Well, that certainly counts. But I meant more like a log or boulder, with your arm strength."
-
>"Well, that certainly counts. But I meant more like a log or boulder, with your arm strength."
> Marisa scans around for something large, not rooted to the ground.
>_
-
>If we happen to see something worthwhile, point it out.
-
>If we happen to see something worthwhile, point it out.
> You try to look out as well...
> Nothing of the sort is nearby...
>_
-
>We'll leave that to Marisa, then. Instead, let's see if any more dolls have returned.
-
>We'll leave that to Marisa, then. Instead, let's see if any more dolls have returned.
> You look around. A lot of dolls are back. Almost all of them. Shanghai and Hourai are back as well, near your side.
> You hear a loud cracking noise nearby.
>_
-
>"How many of you have found mushrooms?"
>Glance back toward the sound.
-
>"How many of you have found mushrooms?"
>Glance back toward the sound.
> All of the dolls shake their heads.
> You glance.
> Marisa is snapping a limb off of a tree.
> "Too small..." You hear her. "Perhaps I shouldn't have tried at all."
>_
-
>Back to the dolls. "Good work, all of you."
>Dismiss the temporary ones, and motion for Shanghai and Hourai to follow us.
>Go see what Marisa is up to.
-
>Back to the dolls. "Good work, all of you."
>Dismiss the temporary ones, and motion for Shanghai and Hourai to follow us.
>Go see what Marisa is up to.
> You dismiss the dolls and have Shanghai and Hourai accompany you.
> Marisa is setting the branch back down.
> "Nothing loose in sight." Marisa says. "I think this might wear off soon as well..."
>_
-
>"I have just a few more dolls out searching. Perhaps we can wander a bit far afield?"
-
>"I have just a few more dolls out searching. Perhaps we can wander a bit far afield?"
> "Better an option than standing around idly." Marisa nods.
>_
-
>"Then I trust your knowledge of the forest to find a suitable object. Lead the way!"
-
>"Then I trust your knowledge of the forest to find a suitable object. Lead the way!"
> "I feel like I'm being dragged around to do everything for you. Why don't I just try one of your dolls? Or you, in fact."
>_
-
>Sigh.
>"Fine, let's see what I can find."
>We've roved this forest before. Surely we know where there's some small boulders or fallen trees or the like. Make a beeline for the nearest one.
-
>Sigh.
>"Fine, let's see what I can find."
>We've roved this forest before. Surely we know where there's some small boulders or fallen trees or the like. Make a beeline for the nearest one.
> You start back towards the area you ran through.
> "Oh... Right." Marisa notes.
>_
-
>"I'm sure we can find something."
>Let's find something, surely we know our own neighborhood well enough to do that.
-
>"I'm sure we can find something."
>Let's find something, surely we know our own neighborhood well enough to do that.
> You begin to search...
> Marisa lifts one of your toppled trees with apparent ease.
>_
-
>"How heavy is it?"
-
>"How heavy is it?"
> "A bit. Not too much. I might be able to lift a small house like this. Probably not one of ours however."
>_
-
>"Try one or two more?"
-
>"Try one or two more?"
> "We're not just going to destroy the entire forest for research Alice." Marisa says.
>_
-
>"I meant one or two more of these trees. Heaven knows there's enough of them. Perhaps you could even clean up the mess as a test?"
-
>"I meant one or two more of these trees. Heaven knows there's enough of them. Perhaps you could even clean up the mess as a test?"
> "So I'm even cleaning up your mess now? Would you want to control me like this next?" Marisa asks.
>
-
>Sigh, rub forehead with fingers.
>"I was suggesting nothing of the sort. I'm sorry if I implied it. Are you really telling me you don't want to use your newfound strength to toss some trees around, though?"
-
>Sigh, rub forehead with fingers.
>"I was suggesting nothing of the sort. I'm sorry if I implied it. Are you really telling me you don't want to use your newfound strength to toss some trees around, though?"
> "I was joking. Of course I want to get as much as I can out of this."
>_
-
>"Then go, Miss Kirisame! Let us seem much wood a black magician can chuck!"
-
>"Then go, Miss Kirisame! Let us seem much wood a black magician can chuck!"
>"I'll be putting the destruction in your hands then." Marisa sets the tree down, before starting to run.
>_
-
>"I've always got a need for firewood."
>Watch her run!
-
>"I've always got a need for firewood."
>Watch her run!
> You watch.
> "Hyaa!"
> Marisa jumps into a slam towards a tree, knocking it down, before crashing into another one and breaking it as well.
> The ground cracks as she lands.
> Marisa starts to get up again.
>_
-
>Polite applause. Then go examine that crack.
-
>Polite applause. Then go examine that crack.
> You applaud a bit, your dolls joining in too.
> You examine the cracks as Marisa heads to pick up the remains of the trees.
> It's not too deep. It just looks as if something large fell, or hit the ground. But the cracks are fairly large, and it might be bad if someone were to trip or get caught in one...
>_
-
>Hopefully the rain will wash those away...
>Just try to tamp the sides down and closed with our feet and watch Marisa as she goes.
-
>Hopefully the rain will wash those away...
>Just try to tamp the sides down and closed with our feet and watch Marisa as she goes.
> You do your best and return to Marisa.
> She has three trees now.
> "It's like carrying a lot of wood now at regular size."
>_
-
>"Nicely done. Do you have any feel for the duration, yet? It seems to have lasted longer."
-
>"Nicely done. Do you have any feel for the duration, yet? It seems to have lasted longer."
> "Yea. It's been much longer than-"
> Marisa starts to flash.
> "...Maybe I shouldn't have said much longer... At least that was... five minutes, maybe?"
>_
-
>Nods. "Respectable, to say the least. Now lets make sure you won't be harmed when it wears off."
-
>Nods. "Respectable, to say the least. Now lets make sure you won't be harmed when it wears off."
> Marisa sets the trees down.
>_
-
>"So, what's the next step on your research?"
-
>"So, what's the next step on your research?"
> "A good idea would be to figure out how to make more use out of it. Longer use. Enhanced use. Less need for resources." Marisa lists.
>_
-
>Nod, then start to make our way back toward the mushroom grove.
>"Let's see if the last few dolls managed to rustle up any more."
-
>Nod, then start to make our way back toward the mushroom grove.
>"Let's see if the last few dolls managed to rustle up any more."
> You start back.
> Marisa's transformation wears off as you return.
> The last few dolls are not back.
>_
-
>"Hmm. They've ranged out a bit, it seems."
>Wait for them to return.
-
>"Hmm. They've ranged out a bit, it seems."
>Wait for them to return.
> You wait...
> ...
> The dolls finally return.
>_
-
>Do any of them seem to have positive results?
>Dismiss those that do not.
-
>Do any of them seem to have positive results?
>Dismiss those that do not.
> No.
> You dismiss the dolls.
>_
-
>"Back to the original plan now, I suppose. Will you want to come with, or will you be staying here to do your own thing?"
-
>"Back to the original plan now, I suppose. Will you want to come with, or will you be staying here to do your own thing?"
> "I think I'll join you a bit longer."
>_
-
>Nod, and start out for Youkai Mountain.
>"Perhaps we'll luck out and find another garden for these along the way."
-
>Nod, and start out for Youkai Mountain.
>"Perhaps we'll luck out and find another garden for these along the way."
> You start towards Youkai Mountain.
>"Really think we should be moving this whole supply with us? Don't wanna store any of yours?"
>_
-
>"Well, we have two each. And I intend to experiment with these when the correct opportunity arises, so I think it should be fine. If you'd like to go store yours, I wouldn't mind."
-
>"Well, we have two each. And I intend to experiment with these when the correct opportunity arises, so I think it should be fine. If you'd like to go store yours, I wouldn't mind."
> "It's fine."
>_
-
>Nod and continue on.
-
>Nod and continue on.
> You nod and continue on your way.
>_
-
>Presumably we continue until we reach our goal or find a thing that cannot be ignored?
-
>Presumably we continue until we reach our goal or find a thing that cannot be ignored?
> You continue with just your goal in mind...
> ...
> Your group arrives at the foot of Youkai Mountain after a while.
>_
-
>Take to the air now, and make our way toward where the kappa lie.
-
>Take to the air now, and make our way toward where the kappa lie.
> You start into the air...
> You arrive in the general area you believe they may be spotted.
>_
-
>Descend and look around.
>"Hey, you've been here before, right?"
-
>Descend and look around.
>"Hey, you've been here before, right?"
> You descend.
> No one's in sight.
> "Yea. So what're we doing here?"
>_
-
>"Seeking out money. Everyone knows that the kappa rake it in every festival, and frankly they're more likely to trust a youkai than people in the village."
-
>"Seeking out money. Everyone knows that the kappa rake it in every festival, and frankly they're more likely to trust a youkai than people in the village."
> "Already huh." Marisa sweats.
>_
-
>"What? I said that's what I was doing before we got sidetracked into mushroom hunting."
-
>"What? I said that's what I was doing before we got sidetracked into mushroom hunting."
> "Alriiight..."
>_
-
>"What did you think I was going to do when you followed along?"
-
>"What did you think I was going to do when you followed along?"
> Marisa shrugs.
>_
-
>"So, where do we go from here to find them?"
-
>"So, where do we go from here to find them?"
> "Guess I'll lead then." Marisa starts.
>_
-
>Follow that witch!
-
>Follow that witch!
> You follow Marisa!
> Your pursuit is finished as Marisa floats down.
> There's a few Kappa already visible in this area.
>_
-
>Glance around. Does this seem to be a town, or at least inhabited area, or are there just some kappa among the scenery?
-
>Glance around. Does this seem to be a town, or at least inhabited area, or are there just some kappa among the scenery?
> You don't think so... It's more so that there are some Kappa here. You aren't sure if they just hang around or actually live here.
>_
-
>Keep following that witch!
-
>Keep following that witch!
> Marisa continues...
> The Kappa in the area seem to be evading your group.
>_
-
>Well, who can blame them.
>Follow that Witch, and try not to look...particularly threatening? Perhaps friendly is a bit much for us, but try for it.
-
>Well, who can blame them.
>Follow that Witch, and try not to look...particularly threatening? Perhaps friendly is a bit much for us, but try for it.
> You try to look peaceful as you go on.
> Marisa soon guides you to what you would describe as a society. There's much more Kappa here than the other area.
>_
-
>Have a look around, take in the surroundings.
-
>Have a look around, take in the surroundings.
> You look around.
> There are actual buildings here. Residences, if you would.
> There's a nice amount of water here.
> Some of the Kappa are noticing you an going about their business at a distance, glancing back every so often.
>_
-
>Make eye contact when they glance toward us, smile as kindly as we can manage on the fly.
-
>Make eye contact when they glance toward us, smile as kindly as we can manage on the fly.
> You try to do so.
> They still continue.
> "So..." Marisa stops and lands.
>_
-
>Land and look around, take stock of what kinds of residences and other sorts of buildings there are.
-
>Land and look around, take stock of what kinds of residences and other sorts of buildings there are.
> You land.
> The buildings don't seem that big. Smaller than your house for sure. A few are actually larger though, it seems, but you don't think those are residences.
>_
-
>Investigate these larger buildings, let's see what they are.
-
>Investigate these larger buildings, let's see what they are.
> You start heading towards one of the larger buildings.
> Some of the Kappa begin to stand on your path towards the building.
> "You still look like you're gonna cause trouble." Marisa says.
>_
-
>Raise our hands in a sort of warding manner.
>"Don't worry, I'm just visiting."
-
>Raise our hands in a sort of warding manner.
>"Don't worry, I'm just visiting."
> The Kappa flinch as you raise your hands.
> "You'll break something if you try to come in." One speaks.
>_
-
>"How rude, I'm not some oaf. Who do you take me for?"
-
>"How rude, I'm not some oaf. Who do you take me for?"
> The kappa shrinks back.
>_
-
>"It's alright, I forgive you."
-
>"It's alright, I forgive you."
> The kappa do not respond actively.
>_
-
>Continue on.
-
>Continue on.
> You continue towards the building, but the kappa don't move.
>_
-
>"Please let me by?"
-
>"Please let me by?"
> The kappa look to each other and whisper.
>_
-
>"I won't break anything on accident, I promise."
-
>"I won't break anything on accident, I promise."
> The kappa move away carefully.
> "Huh." Marisa says.
>_
-
>Polite nod.
>"Thank you."
>Proceed!
-
>Polite nod.
>"Thank you."
>Proceed!
> You squeeze your way into the building.
> The kappa all seem to be making things in here.
>_
-
>Take some time to observe what sorts of production areas there are, where kappa seem to be congregated, and observe any particular paths we can safely move forward.
-
>Take some time to observe what sorts of production areas there are, where kappa seem to be congregated, and observe any particular paths we can safely move forward.
> You observe the area... Lots of kappa seem to be in lines as they work on parts of something. Those parts then travel to the next kappa, and they work on it a bit. However, almost all the kappa are trying to keep hold of their part for much longer, working on it until another part comes and panicking then. This cooperation is pretty bad...
> You can get a bit closer to some of the work areas.
>_
-
>Go observe some work areas.
>Do we know any kappa personally?
-
>Go observe some work areas.
>Do we know any kappa personally?
> The only one you sort of hear about is Nitori. Otherwise, you're in the dark.
> You start to watch the Kappa work...
> It looks like they're being too selfish. Wanting to complete their part on their own and not leaving it to another... None seem to notice you in this frustrating environment.
>_
-
>Oh well, not our problem.
>Can we tell what they're trying to make?
>Does it seem like there's anyone we can ask for more details on various things?
-
>Oh well, not our problem.
>Can we tell what they're trying to make?
>Does it seem like there's anyone we can ask for more details on various things?
> No...
> No.
>_
-
>"What're they making, Marisa?"
-
>"What're they making, Marisa?"
> "Beats me." Marisa looks on.
>_
-
>Look toward the end of the production line.
-
>Look toward the end of the production line.
> The end has a few kappa putting the results in boxes. From what you can see, one box is labeled "Failures". It's full and set a bit away from the other boxes not currently full. There's a kappa trying to close said box.
>_
-
>Can we make our way closer to the end of the line without causing any problems?
>IF so, do so and then take stock of what's going on down there and what they are making.
-
>Can we make our way closer to the end of the line without causing any problems?
>IF so, do so and then take stock of what's going on down there and what they are making.
> Yes.
> You carefully make your way to the end.
> They seem to be making small things. In the boxes, some are glowing a bit, while others just flicker every so often.
>_
-
>"How are those glowing, Marisa?"
-
>"How are those glowing, Marisa?"
> "They look like... Cameras. Yea. More like the one Hatate had though."
> "Hourai Hourai Rai... (That doesn't explain how...)"
> The kappa at the end take notice to your presence.
>_
-
>Nod toward the end production kappa.
>"Hm, you think so, Marisa?"
-
>Nod toward the end production kappa.
>"Hm, you think so, Marisa?"
> "Yup." Marisa says.
> "We're busy here. Please leave." The kappa says.
> "That's not real nice." Marisa says.
>_
-
>"No, but it's direct. Sorry about that."
>Draw back a little.
>Does the whole place seem to be devoted to just producing this?
-
>"No, but it's direct. Sorry about that."
>Draw back a little.
>Does the whole place seem to be devoted to just producing this?
> You back up a bit.
> No.
>_
-
>"You know, Marisa, I could probably do something similar to this with my dolls, now that I think on it."
>Go view another production line, taking care as we approach.
-
>"You know, Marisa, I could probably do something similar to this with my dolls, now that I think on it."
>Go view another production line, taking care as we approach.
> "Probably."
> You carefully go around to the next one...
> They seem to be making another sort of thing. This one's going much better.
>_
-
>Observe the line for a moment, try to make out what this thing is.
-
>Observe the line for a moment, try to make out what this thing is.
> You check...
> It seems to be a small... thing. It has wheels...
> Further along, they seem to be adding blades...
>_
-
>"Any idea what that is, Marisa?"
-
//Seconds... sweatdrop*
>"Any idea what that is, Marisa?"
> Marisa shrugs.
-
>Observe for a mometn more, then carefully make our way deeper into the facility.
>"Let me know if you recognize anyone, alright?"
-
>Observe for a mometn more, then carefully make our way deeper into the facility.
>"Let me know if you recognize anyone, alright?"
> "Yea yea..."
> You continue...
> You reach an end, but it seems like there could be more from what you saw on the outside,
>_
-
>Examine what there is to be found around the end. And if there are any doorways.
-
>Examine what there is to be found around the end. And if there are any doorways.
> You examine the wall...
> You notice a part of the wall that does not fit with the rest. The pattern gets weird there.
>_
-
>Let's have a closer look at that pattern.
-
>Let's have a closer look at that pattern.
> You examine closer...
> The pattern seems to repeat earlier than it does before.
> You can tell that there is a sort of doorway here.
>_
-
>Do any of the kappa seem to be giving us foul looks for examining this door?
-
>Do any of the kappa seem to be giving us foul looks for examining this door?
> You look back.
> None seem to notice or be looking this way.
>_
-
>Open the door and peek inside!
-
>Open the door and peek inside!
> You try to open the door...
> And manage such.
> There's a few Kappa in here, speaking.
> "seriously terrible at it."
> "But we're making progress. Some of them are better now."
> Silence...
> "Exactly."
>_
-
>Observe!
-
>Observe!
> You watch quietly...
> "So you want us to just keep doing this until everyone's good at it."
> "It's a good plan, I know."
> "Do you think the effects will last?"
> "Hopefully."
>_
-
>Just what is beyond this door, other than some kappa talking?
-
>Just what is beyond this door, other than some kappa talking?
> It seems to be a comfortable seeming room. The Kappa are talking around a table in the middle. There's comfortable looking seats against some of the walls. There's a black box as well. There's a weird thing on the wall ahead of you, which seems to look around as if it had a mind of it's own. What doesn't help it is the fact that it totally looks like it has an eye...
>_
-
>Whisper: "The heck is that, Marisa?"
-
>Whisper: "The heck is that, Marisa?"
> "Sorta looks like a camera with that black thing in the center... I bet it'll take our picture if it flashes..."
>_
-
>Nod, and look to see if there is anywhere to go within the chamber, or if it is a dead end.
>Whisper: "Do you recognize anyone?"
-
>Nod, and look to see if there is anywhere to go within the chamber, or if it is a dead end.
>Whisper: "Do you recognize anyone?"
> The room seems to have another door. In plain sight, compared to this one.
> "Yup. Twintails over there is a friend of mine." Marisa murmurs.
>_
-
>Does it seem like we get to that door without disturbing the meeting going here?
-
>Does it seem like we get to that door without disturbing the meeting going here?
> Definitely not at your current size. You could hardly get through this door without disturbing them.
>_
-
>Whisper: "Should we wait out the meeting before we carry on?"
-
>Whisper: "Should we wait out the meeting before we carry on?"
> "We're kinda in plain sight back here. You're really risking it turning your back on all these kappa for so long with the size you are now though."
>_
-
>Whisper: "Risking what?"
-
>Whisper: "Risking what?"
> "A much larger shirikodama than normal."
>_
-
>Whisper: "Point taken..."
>How is the meeting progressing?
-
>Whisper: "Point taken..."
>How is the meeting progressing?
> "But this should still help us if we do plan either kind." The one Marisa called Twintails speaks.
> "Don't waste resources..."
> "It's not. We'll recycle and reuse what's failed."
>_
-
>Let them carry on until they are done. Twintails will be the target, we'll use Marisa as an in.
-
>Let them carry on until they are done. Twintails will be the target, we'll use Marisa as an in.
> You watch the group quietly as they discuss...
> Soon, they stand.
> "If this doesn't work out well-"
> "It already is, you know." Twintails smiles.
> "Nn... Right."
> "Ehehe."

>Move aside from the door to let anyone who wishes to go through to go through.
> You move.
> Marisa gets on the other side.
> However, none seem to be coming through...
> You hear a door open.
>_
-
>Glance back inside.
-
>Glance back inside.
> You look in.
> The group is leaving out the other door...
>_
-
>Let them file through, then follow them.
-
>Let them file through, then follow them.
> You wait until the last leaves and follow.
> It's a bit of a struggle, but you make it out.
> The group disperses and starts to go separate ways.
>_
-
>Follow them twintails!
-
>Follow them twintails!
> You begin to follow the twintailed kappa.
>_
-
>...Follow those twintails? Something'll happen, surely?
-
>...Follow those twintails? Something'll happen, surely?
> You continue...
> The kappa heads to a building, opening the door and turning around to close it.
> Your group meets with her as she freezes.
>_
-
>Does she seem to freeze because of us, or something unrelated?
-
>Does she seem to freeze because of us, or something unrelated?
> You think it may be because of you.
>_
-
>"Hello there."
-
>"Hello there."
> "Uh... What?" Twintails closes the door as she steps back outside. "Marisa?"
> Marisa seems to wave.
>_
-
>"Ah, good, you two do know each other. I'm Alice, pleased to make your acquaintance."
-
>"Ah, good, you two do know each other. I'm Alice, pleased to make your acquaintance."
> "I'm Nitori... So, what are you doing here?" She asks.
>_
-
>"Seeking out opportunity. Before we get into that, shall we find someplace a bit more comfortable than this hall?"
-
>"Seeking out opportunity. Before we get into that, shall we find someplace a bit more comfortable than this hall?"
> "Opportunity? Sure."
>_
-
>Nod, and let her lead the way.
-
>Nod, and let her lead the way.
> Nitori leads you to what seems to be a storage area.
> She sits on a box.
> "This fine enough?" She asks.
> "Couldn't we just go in your house?" Marisa asks.
> "That Alice girl with you is big. I don't want her breaking something in there."
> "Rai Hourai Rai Rai Hourai... (That Alice girl is here too...)" Hourai frowns.
> "...What?"
>_
-
>"They aren't happy with talking about me as though I weren't here. Neither am I, but we'll set that aside for now. Tell us about your workhouse here? We've seen some things, but perhaps you could help us put them in perspective."
-
>"They aren't happy with talking about me as though I weren't here. Neither am I, but we'll set that aside for now. Tell us about your workhouse here? We've seen some things, but perhaps you could help us put them in perspective."
> "Workhouse? Uh. Oh. Well, we aren't actively trying to accomplish something like a project right now. Aside from doing things to improve skills, I mean..."
>_
-
>"Oh, so it's more like a kappa dojo, then?"
-
>"Oh, so it's more like a kappa dojo, then?"
> "I guess..."
>_
-
>"So what happens to all the stuff that gets made?"
-
>"So what happens to all the stuff that gets made?"
> "The good ones are kept or sold."
>_
-
>Chuckle.
>"So it is a workhouse after all, just with lower expectations. Well, that's alright, don't you think, Marisa?"
-
>Chuckle.
>"So it is a workhouse after all, just with lower expectations. Well, that's alright, don't you think, Marisa?"
> "Er..."
> "They might not be overworked or anything, so sure, why not?" Marisa says.
>_
-
>"That meeting made it sound like you were having some problems, though."
-
>"That meeting made it sound like you were having some problems, though."
> "Huh? H-How'd you get there?"
>_
-
>"Opened the door."
-
>"Opened the door."
> "Ugh... so we need to hide it better..."
>_
-
>"Don't be too upset, Marisa and I are genius magicians. I'm sure it would stop others."
-
>"Don't be too upset, Marisa and I are genius magicians. I'm sure it would stop others."
> "Oh. Good."
> "So is she getting in on this or not? I'm gettin anxious here." Marisa speaks.
>_
-
>"I'm working toward it, Marisa."
>"But first, Miss Nitori, I am curious what that meeting was about."
-
>"I'm working toward it, Marisa."
>"But first, Miss Nitori, I am curious what that meeting was about."
> "It was just a discussion..."
>_
-
>"Go on."
-
>"Go on."
> "about how we work, and how it'll be improved by what we were starting to do."
>_
-
>"Who were you trying to impress, exactly?"
-
>"Who were you trying to impress, exactly?"
> "What do you mean?"
>_
-
>"You were explaining yourself to someone. Who was that someone?"
-
>"You were explaining yourself to someone. Who was that someone?"
> "It wasn't just someone. It was a few others who wanted to know if this would actually work out."
>_
-
>Nod for her to continue.
-
>Nod for her to continue.
> "I explained that it would work out, and is."
>_
-
"So why was it necessary to explain yourself to them?"
-
"So why was it necessary to explain yourself to them?"
> "Because they doubted it."
>_
-
>"Why did their doubts matter? Is there anything they could have done to impede things?"
-
>"Why did their doubts matter? Is there anything they could have done to impede things?"
> "Probably. They might've asked everyone else what was the use of this, and things would probably go poorly... At least for a while."
>_
-
>"So, you need to win the confidence of the community, even if the community can't exactly stop you, hm?"
-
>"So, you need to win the confidence of the community, even if the community can't exactly stop you, hm?"
> "I-It's good to have friends... Are you trying to blackmail me or something?"
>_
-
>"Not at all! I'm just trying to get a firm grasp on the situation."
-
>"Not at all! I'm just trying to get a firm grasp on the situation."
> "Why?"
>_
-
>"So that we may proceed!"
-
>"So that we may proceed!"
> "With what exactly? What's this opportunity you're even seeking out?"
>_
-
>"Simple, you're having problems. And we can help deal with those problems."
-
>"Simple, you're having problems. And we can help deal with those problems."
> "Huh?"
>_
-
>"The project isn't going as well as you hoped. You're having a hard time. The community is starting to have doubts. You need help, am I wrong?"
-
>"The project isn't going as well as you hoped. You're having a hard time. The community is starting to have doubts. You need help, am I wrong?"
> "I-It's going great. Of course it's going to start off bad, that's the main thing we're improving. It'll stop other things from going bad and falling apart again in the future."
>_
-
>"And that's what why we're here. So you can stop it and make this project soar."
-
>"And that's what why we're here. So you can stop it and make this project soar."
> Nitori sighs.
>_
-
>"No need for that sigh. Chin up, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!"
-
>"No need for that sigh. Chin up, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!"
> "So how are you going to help? And when?"
>_
-
>"I could start right now, in theory. As for how I'm going to help, well. That all depends on what you need, doesn't it?"
-
>"I could start right now, in theory. As for how I'm going to help, well. That all depends on what you need, doesn't it?"
> "What if we don't need help?"
>_
-
>"Don't you think that's being a little too careless? After all, you already have a jaundiced eye turned toward you by the community, don't you?"
-
>"Don't you think that's being a little too careless? After all, you already have a jaundiced eye turned toward you by the community, don't you?"
> "No no, I'm not hated or anything." Nitori says.
>_
-
>"Not hated, no," I say. "But the level of trust that the public has in you is starting to teeter, am I wrong?"
-
>"Not hated, no," I say. "But the level of trust that the public has in you is starting to teeter, am I wrong?"
> Nitori looks to the side for a moment...
> "Yup. Wrong. I mean, I don't know what everyone thinks about the frustrat-... Ah... I-I should check if they know that we're making progress... That group knows at least..."
>_
-
>"Dead on the mark. You need something to win back confidence. The question is, what is that something?"
-
>"Dead on the mark. You need something to win back confidence. The question is, what is that something?"
> "A meeting with everyone?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"That might work, but really, the best thing would be to get some results. Wouldn't you agree?"
-
>"That might work, but really, the best thing would be to get some results. Wouldn't you agree?"
> "Yea..."
>_
-
>"So, let's go into what getting results actually are in this case."
-
>"So, let's go into what getting results actually are in this case."
> "I'm listening."
>_
-
>"What do results look like? Making more things, making better things, find a place to sell the things?"
-
>"What do results look like? Making more things, making better things, find a place to sell the things?"
> "I guess I'd say making more things. Since if everyone improved in the right way, the whole line would succeed more than fail. Then it could go on to better things..."
>_
-
>"Great! Now, what is improving the right way? May I venture a guess and say better cooperation?"
-
>"Great! Now, what is improving the right way? May I venture a guess and say better cooperation?"
> "Er... Yea. That's it."
>_
-
>"So, how do you encourage them to cooperate? What's their reward?"
-
>"So, how do you encourage them to cooperate? What's their reward?"
> "Cucumbers."
>_
-
>"And what happens when they don't cooperate well enough?"
-
I wonder how feasible doll-string micromanagement would be for the assembly line.
-
I'm considering a few solutions. My hope is to nudge solutions toward a more adventuring thing, but if we have to run a seminar, than so be it.
-
>"And what happens when they don't cooperate well enough?"
> "I'd think that it's frustrating enough that have to cooperate well, lest things fail. Another punishment along with that would bring more grudge..."
>_
-
>"Perhaps less of a punishment and more of a smaller reward?"
-
>"Perhaps less of a punishment and more of a smaller reward?"
> "Okay..." Nitori nods.
>_
-
>"Even better would be a larger reward for improved cooperation on top of it."
-
>"Even better would be a larger reward for improved cooperation on top of it."
> "Who are you even to suggest things like this? Are you successful in these sorts of things?"
>_
-
>"I'm...used to herding cats, so to speak."
>Pat Marisa's head as though it were emphasis.
-
>"I'm...used to herding cats, so to speak."
>Pat Marisa's head as though it were emphasis.
> "Is there anything else you want to advise me on then, cat lady?"
>_
-
>"Mmm, well. There was one other thing. It seems you need to relax and enjoy yourself a bit, if you don't mind me saying?"
-
>"Mmm, well. There was one other thing. It seems you need to relax and enjoy yourself a bit, if you don't mind me saying?"
> "Of course anyone would want to relax and enjoy themselves."
>_
-
>"Do you have somewhere private and a bit spacious; say a testing area? Preferable with access to the outdoors?"
-
>"Do you have somewhere private and a bit spacious; say a testing area? Preferable with access to the outdoors?"
> "Private with access to the outdoors? Like, generally not inside, or forest-like?"
>_
-
>"The second one is better."
-
>"The second one is better."
> "Well, it's not like I have land like that that belongs to just me."
>_
-
>"The first will do. Really, the outside access is just for convenience."
-
>"The first will do. Really, the outside access is just for convenience."
> "I sorta have an area then, I guess."
>_
-
>"Then lead the way, please?"
-
>"Then lead the way, please?"
> Nitori gets up, heading out.
>_
-
>Follow that kappa!
-
>Follow that kappa!
> You follow, along with your dolls and Marisa.
> You are led to what seems to be a very large room. It seems mostly empty. There's a few marks on the walls, such as burn marks.
>_
-
>"Perfect. Now comes the part where you need to give us your trust."
>Produce two of the glamour mushrooms we harvested. "Just eat these. Don't worry, it'll be free of charge."
-
>"Perfect. Now comes the part where you need to give us your trust."
>Produce two of the glamour mushrooms we harvested. "Just eat these. Don't worry, it'll be free of charge."
> You retrieve a single pair.
> "Mushrooms...?"
>_
-
>Nod and offer them.
-
>Nod and offer them.
> You hold it out.
> "What'll these do?" Nitori takes them.
>_
-
>"It's best if it is a surprise. But trust me, you will enjoy it."
-
>"It's best if it is a surprise. But trust me, you will enjoy it."
> "Is it because it tastes good?"
>_
-
>"I wouldn't complain about the flavor, but no. Just, give us your trust."
-
>"I wouldn't complain about the flavor, but no. Just, give us your trust."
> Nitori sighs, before consuming the mushrooms.
> "Now we're talkin'!" Marisa cheers.
> "Not the best- Eh?" Nitori begins to flash.
>_
-
>"Shanghai, take notes, please."
>Observe!
-
>"Shanghai, take notes, please."
>Observe!
> "S-Shang. (K-Kay.)" Shanghai nods.
> You watch, as the kappa changes shape.
> Her twintails seem much, much longer.
> There's what seems to be the usual chest increase, as well as size increase too...
> Her outfit seems to have a bit of a wavy pattern...
>_
-
>Does she seem to be about as large as Marisa was? Larger, smaller?
>"How do you feel, Miss Nitori?"
-
>Does she seem to be about as large as Marisa was? Larger, smaller?
>"How do you feel, Miss Nitori?"
> She seems larger.
> "What..." Nitori examines herself.
>_
-
>"Nice, isn't it?"
-
>"Nice, isn't it?"
> "Yes..." Nitori admits.
>_
-
>"Nothing can stop you right now. Run through trees, and they just fall right over like you were a little typhoon. Do go into detail about how you feel, and anything you notice. It's for Marisa's research as well."
-
>"Nothing can stop you right now. Run through trees, and they just fall right over like you were a little typhoon. Do go into detail about how you feel, and anything you notice. It's for Marisa's research as well."
> "Really?" Nitori asks. "Well, I feel amazing... Incredible. Where'd you find this? No... Did you make it?"
>_
-
>"We haven't made them. Not yet, at least. Have you noticed any changes in yourself, besides the obvious? And take a pirouette for us?"
-
>"We haven't made them. Not yet, at least. Have you noticed any changes in yourself, besides the obvious? And take a pirouette for us?"
> Nitori hesitates for a moment, getting ready, then doing a twirl in place.
> "Could have been better..." Marisa comments.
> "Er... Well, I don't feel tired at all or anything. Feels like I'm ready to do a thousand things before the day's over."
>_
-
>"What kind of things? Physical, mental, work, play, let's hear it in detail please."
-
>"What kind of things? Physical, mental, work, play, let's hear it in detail please."
> "Anything. I could probably plan another project, work on it, finish it, and present it without taking any breaks in-between."
>_
-
>"Quick! Pick exactly what you'd want to be doing right now!"
-
>"Quick! Pick exactly what you'd want to be doing right now!"
> "Wha? Uh, eating cucumbers?"
> "You hesitated..." Marisa says.
> "Well I can't really say what I wanted..." Nitori looks aside.
>_
-
>Chuckle.
>"Well, that's fair. Maybe next time. Anyways, go eat some cucumbers, then!"
-
>Chuckle.
>"Well, that's fair. Maybe next time. Anyways, go eat some cucumbers, then!"
> "I think it'd run out before she could get to any..." Marisa says.
> "Run out?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"This only last a few minutes, I fear. We're working on it."
-
>"This only last a few minutes, I fear. We're working on it."
> "Oh."
> "It'd be good if you did more ya know. Not just stand around while under it's effects." Marisa says. "Hey, try taking off something."
> "What?"
> "Clothes change when you eat it, and back when it runs out. So what if you took them off before that?"
>_
-
>"It's true, we haven't experimented with that..."
-
>"It's true, we haven't experimented with that..."
> "I... don't feel comfortable with something like that..."
> "Come on. At least the hat or the bag." Marisa says. "But those two don't look like they changed much..."
> Nitori removes her backpack.
>_
-
>Observe the backpack, before and after removal.
-
>Observe the backpack, before and after removal.
> You watch as Nitori's backpack changes slightly as she lets go of it.
> It looks as it did before she changed.
> "Hm..." Marisa frowns.
> "Shang Shang Shanghai Shanghai? (What was different about it?)"
>_
-
>Does it seem smaller than when Nitori was wearing it, given how much she grew?
-
>Does it seem smaller than when Nitori was wearing it, given how much she grew?
> Yes.
>_
-
>"The size, for one. And believe the wave pattern is lost. Pick it back up for us?"
-
>"The size, for one. And believe the wave pattern is lost. Pick it back up for us?"
> Nitori picks the backpack up again.
> It's appearance returns.
> She puts it back on.
> "Ohh..." Marisa watches.
>_
-
>"Amazing! Hm, let's see how it affected your strength. I know...why don't you try to pick me up?"
-
>"Amazing! Hm, let's see how it affected your strength. I know...why don't you try to pick me up?"
> "Uh... Alright..." Nitori approaches, moving her hands to try and figure out how and where to grab you.
>_
-
>Offer no resistance.
-
>Offer no resistance.
> You idle...
> Nitori picks you up with ease.
> "It's really easy... You're kind of like a toy now."
>_
-
>How did she pick us up? Is it uncomfortable?
-
>How did she pick us up? Is it uncomfortable?
> Not really. She has you on her hand now, standing on it.
>_
-
>Just how large is she, now?
-
> Yeah, aren't we still large enough to just barely fit in our house?
-
>Just how large is she, now?
> A bit smaller than you, you believe.
> Yeah, aren't we still large enough to just barely fit in our house?
> Large enough to hardly fit your room, yes.
> Nitori sets you down.
>_
-
>"Impressive..." I say. "Hm, what next? Why don't you pick, Nitori?"
-
>"Impressive..." I say. "Hm, what next? Why don't you pick, Nitori?"
> "Maybe you're smarter now." Marisa says. "If so, you could find a way to improve these."
> "I guess that's considerable..."
>_
-
>Nod.
>"It's worth trying."
-
>Nod.
>"It's worth trying."
> "Well, I don't know much about them now..." Nitori says.
>_
-
>"Well, let's do an easy comprehension test."
>Show Nitori our notes, we'll see how fast she internalizes them.
-
>"Well, let's do an easy comprehension test."
>Show Nitori our notes, we'll see how fast she internalizes them.
> You give Nitori your notes.
> The kappa begins to read...
>_
-
>Time her in our head.
-
>Time her in our head.
> You count mentally...
> "How long did you record one for?" Nitori asks after a minute, roughly.
> "Er..."
> "Have you grown your own? What about the climate?"
>_
-
>"Not yet, no. They're a fairly recent discovery. There should be copious notes on their growing conditions, though."
-
>"Not yet, no. They're a fairly recent discovery. There should be copious notes on their growing conditions, though."
> "Uh huh..."
>_
-
>"In your hands. So that's the climate issue answered, at least."
-
>"In your hands. So that's the climate issue answered, at least."
> "So we try growing our own first?" Marisa asks.
> "Then you pretty much get as many tries for other things later." Nitori replies.
> "Of course..."
>_
-
>"I don't suppose you would have any bright ideas for a farming set-up?"
-
>"I don't suppose you would have any bright ideas for a farming set-up?"
> "Farming? No, I can't say I do."
>_
-
>Let's get them notes back.
>"Well then, hm, how do you feel now?"
-
>Let's get them notes back.
>"Well then, hm, how do you feel now?"
> You take your notes back.
> "Like I should start considering taking this mushroom stuff into my hands." Nitori says.
>_
-
>"I meant more generally. That said, we are certainly open to ideas?"
-
>"I meant more generally. That said, we are certainly open to ideas?"
> "I said considering. There might be downsides we don't know of."
> "Haven't noticed any yet aside from the time limit." Marisa says.
>_
-
>"I was avoiding mentioning that, to be honest. I wanted to see if it would last longer if Nitori simply relaxed as she is."
-
>"I was avoiding mentioning that, to be honest. I wanted to see if it would last longer if Nitori simply relaxed as she is."
> "Like a sort of placebo effect?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"More like not burning a candle at both ends, really."
-
>"More like not burning a candle at both ends, really."
> "Any other ideas?" Marisa asks.
> "Uh..."
> "Oh, see if she can understand Shanghai or Hourai." Marisa says."
>_
-
>"Say something random to the kappa, you two."
-
>"Say something random to the kappa, you two."
> "Shang Shanghai Shang Shang Shanghai Shanghai. (You sounded smart and like a leader.)" Shanghai comments.
> "I don't think I understood her..." Nitori says.
> "Listen to the way they speak. If the mushroom helps, then you should start figuring it out in no time." Marisa says.
> "Shanghai, Shang Shang Shanghai. (Hourai, you say something too.)" Shanghai speaks again.
> The other doll shakes her head.
>_
-
>"Hourai, please."
-
>"Hourai, please."
> "Rai Hourai Rai Hourai. (One of us is enough.)" Hourai speaks.
> "I see your point there." Marisa says.
> "Shang Shang Shanghai. Shang Shanghai Shanghai Shang. (My name is Shanghai. Me and Hourai are Alice's dolls.)" Shanghai points to herself and Hourai, talking to Nitori.
> "Uh... Could you say that again?" Nitori asks.
> Shanghai begins to repeat.
>_
-
>Let this process continue. Try not to ogle to kappa in the meantime.
-
>Let this process continue. Try not to ogle to kappa in the meantime.
> "One more time." Nitori requests.
> Shanghai repeats.
> "...Again. One last time. For real this time Shanghai."
> Your doll repeats.
> "Alright. I understood it." Nitori smiles.
>_
-
>"Tell her about our home, Shanghai? Let's see if she can follow that much."
-
>"Tell her about our home, Shanghai? Let's see if she can follow that much."
> "Shang Shanghai Shang Shanghai Shanghai. (We live in the Forest of Magic.)"
> "Again."
> Shanghai repeats.
> "Okay."
> "Shang Shanghai Shanghai. (We're Marisa's neighbors.)"
> "Er... Okay." Nitori nods as she begins to flash.
> "Dang." Marisa frowns.
>_
-
>"This could count as mental activity, but yes. Dang."
>Did it see to last any longer or shorter than when Marisa took two mushrooms?
-
>"This could count as mental activity, but yes. Dang."
>Did it see to last any longer or shorter than when Marisa took two mushrooms?
> No.
> "I'm glowing?" Nitori questions.
>_
-
>"It's about to run out."
-
>"It's about to run out."
> "Oh. It's good that there's a tell for it, I guess."
> Nitori's figure returns to normal...
>_
-
>"And there you have it."
-
>"And there you have it."
> "Shang Shang Shanghai? (Do you still understand?)"
> "Kind of..." Nitori answers.
>_
-
>"I can't imagine you would simply forget things, at least."
-
>"I can't imagine you would simply forget things, at least."
> "Good. So nothing harmful from it running out, right?"
> "Nope."
>_
-
>"I hope you enjoyed the experience."
-
>"I hope you enjoyed the experience."
> "Well. ...Yea. It was enjoyable." Nitori says.
>_

>"Hopefully it was all we promised?"
-
>"Hopefully it was all we promised?"
> "It was pretty good..."
>_

> "Alright."

> "Excuse me?" Nitori questions.

> "Okay. Is this, uh, free?"
>_

>"Frankly, after all we've done so far, don't you think we should get some fair compensation?"

>"Frankly, after all we've done so far, don't you think we should get some fair compensation?"
> "Of course it wasn't..."
> "You wouldn't have rewarded us with something for helping you like this? How selfish." Marisa remarks.
> "Well, what would you want? Or do I have to figure out your favorites or something..."
>_
-
>"Money is good."
-
>"Money is good."
> "I'll see what I can do..."
>_
-
>"So, what should I be bringing back?"
-
>"So, what should I be bringing back?"
> "I'm not sure what to get them as a better reward..."
>_
-
>"Something from the human village, maybe?"
-
>"Something from the human village, maybe?"
> "Any suggestions?"
>_
-
>"That's an excellent question. I was hoping you'd have something in mind, rather that having to play guessing games about what you may or may not want to order?"
-
>"That's an excellent question. I was hoping you'd have something in mind, rather that having to play guessing games about what you may or may not want to order?"
> "Well, this is a reward for Kappas." Marisa says. "She already said they're getting cucumbers, so what are we gonna offer that's better than that and money?"
>_
-
>"Which is why I wanna get it cleared up," I say. "I don't want to just guess at something and then come back to find I wasted all my time."
-
>"Which is why I wanna get it cleared up," I say. "I don't want to just guess at something and then come back to find I wasted all my time."
> "Should I ask them their selves what they'd like?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"I suppose taking a vote isn't a bad idea?" she says. "But I dunno, that might get their expectations up. Better to guess at something the majority would probably like and surprise them with it. It's better for morale."
-
>"I suppose taking a vote isn't a bad idea?" she says. "But I dunno, that might get their expectations up. Better to guess at something the majority would probably like and surprise them with it. It's better for morale."
> "Right." Nitori sighs.
>_
-
>"That said, you know 'em best. Mm, I don't suppose other foodstuffs would work? I could probably get a load of candy from the human village easily enough."
-
>"That said, you know 'em best. Mm, I don't suppose other foodstuffs would work? I could probably get a load of candy from the human village easily enough."
> "Well, it is just a bit more along with the regular reward. I guess I shouldn't be thinking that high..."
>_
-
>"What goes with cucumbers?"
-
>"What goes with cucumbers?"
> "Anything really. In the sense that it's just an extra for doing well, right?" Nitori speaks.
>_
-
>"Yeah, but you want it to be worth getting."
-
>"Yeah, but you want it to be worth getting."
> "Yea..."
>_
-
>"And it has to be something people can share easily, because we want them working together, not trying to undercut each other."
>"...How do they feel about sake?"
-
>"And it has to be something people can share easily, because we want them working together, not trying to undercut each other."
>"...How do they feel about sake?"
> "Sake? It could be worth a shot."
> "Wonder if this'll really all work." Marisa speaks.
>_
-
>"You have to administer it right, but if it works, it'll give the whole process a shot in the arm."
-
>"You have to administer it right, but if it works, it'll give the whole process a shot in the arm."
> "Wonder how making the mushrooms into shots would be..." Marisa thinks.
> "So that's all then?"
>_
-
>"I suppose we could try that, Marisa, but that might end up being more costly than Nitori might like."
-
>"I suppose we could try that, Marisa, but that might end up being more costly than Nitori might like."
> "It was just a thought." Marisa says.
>_
-
>Look to NItori.
>"Is that what you want me to get?"
-
>Look to NItori.
>"Is that what you want me to get?"
> "Um... Yea."
>_
-
>"Alright. What resources can you give me to help with this acquisition?"
-
>"Alright. What resources can you give me to help with this acquisition?"
> "...This is all in case things aren't going well with the project, right?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"Yeah, sure."
-
>"Yeah, sure."
> "Then I won't pull this off just yet. If things get worse, I'll try to get you two..."
>_
-
>Frown just a little. "It might not be a bad idea to be proactive. At worst, it works and you get better results instead of mediocre results."
-
>Frown just a little. "It might not be a bad idea to be proactive. At worst, it works and you get better results instead of mediocre results."
> "What's the harm in trusting us anyways? We're not going to scam you." Marisa says.
> "So, you want just money, right?" Nitori asks.
>_
-
>"Well. Yes. But for the goods, we'll take whatever you think you can exchange."
-
>"Well. Yes. But for the goods, we'll take whatever you think you can exchange."
> "You're going to trade things for the sake?"
>_
-
>"Maybe? I haven't actually worked out any kind of deal with a brewer or retailer yet. But if I have the options, I might try for it. At this point we're still figuring out what sort of things I have to work with. Which is why I've been asking you these things."
-

> "Planning as you go along huh?"
>_
-
>"Well I haven't gone yet, and we';re still in the planning stage, so kind of."
-
>"Well I haven't gone yet, and we';re still in the planning stage, so kind of."
> "This seems more complicated than it should be... I'm just improving everyone's cooperation."
>_
-
>"Anyways, I can try to get the stuff on my own. But it it may well reflect in my fee, as a warning."
-
>"Anyways, I can try to get the stuff on my own. But it it may well reflect in my fee, as a warning."
> "Uh... You know, I'm willing to take my chances with what I have."
> "You sure?" Marisa asks.
> "Yea." Nitori nods.
>_
-
>"Are you sure about that? There's an awful lot riding on this project to leave it up to chance."
-
>"Are you sure about that? There's an awful lot riding on this project to leave it up to chance."
> "Mm." Nitori nods.
>_
-
>"Then I hope it goes well. I couldn't bring myself to gamble on a major project like this, myself. At least not without a way larger payoff for success"
>_
-
>"Then I hope it goes well. I couldn't bring myself to gamble on a major project like this, myself. At least not without a way larger payoff for success"
>_
> "Uh, thanks." Nitori says.
> "Tsk tsk, you can't do that here Alice." Marisa wags her finger.
>_
-
>"If you change your mind, well, I live in the Forest of Magic, not too far from Marisa's place."
-
>"If you change your mind, well, I live in the Forest of Magic, not too far from Marisa's place."
> "Kay."
>_
-
>"Shall we, Marisa?"
-
>"Shall we, Marisa?"
> "We're still getting something from her about the mushrooms, right?" Marisa asks.
> "I'll give you something alright..." Nitori pulls out a vicious machine, pointing towards the four of you.

I wonder where everyone went... :o
