Reimu Quest (Part 4)
« on: November 06, 2013, 11:43:24 PM »

> Your name is Hakurei Reimu.

> You are one of the most notorious members of Gensokyo thanks to your status as the last Hakurei Shrine maiden and primary incident solver.  You are admired, hated, and loved all at once, and to be honest that can be kind of overwhelming and stressful for you sometimes.  You?re around people frequently but it can be very draining on you.  Sometimes you just want to be alone.  Although moments of silence are rare, you are comforted in the knowledge that when you let down your guard, no one will be able to take advantage of that.  Your status as the last Hakurei shrine maiden has made you untouchable.  This is because your life is intrinsically linked with the Great Barrier that surrounds Gensokyo.  If you die, then the entirety of Gensokyo will go down with you.  This fact is even more important because, as of right now, you don't have a successor.

> Lately, you haven?t been able to be as active in incident-solving as you used to be, but that?s to be expected.  Gensokyo's population has grown within the past few years, and incidents come and go--some even solved by youkai.  Although you still hold some resentment towards youkai, you?ve gotten closer to them and have even found love and friendship in their company.  It?s a bit complicated.  There will always be tension between youkai and humans, and although--or maybe because--you've got friends on both sides, you're in an awkward situation.

> You are a tea enthusiast and are fond of animals, although you?d rather not go through the hassle of keeping any pets.  You?re also quite thrifty and have taken advantage of the hot springs behind your house to earn your keep when you are not solving incidents, because let?s face it; a shrine is a difficult thing to take care of.  You?re one busy girl, but you?re not alone.  You share a room with Ibuki Suika, who you took in many years ago.  Also on the shrine grounds are the Three Faeries of Light, who you?ve recently won over and convinced to help out with shrine work.  Until the likes of them showed up, you've been alone for as long as you can remember.

--

> The year is currently 128, and summer has been upon Gensokyo for a while now.  After spending a relaxing, rainy evening at home with Suika, Akyuu, and Yukari, you awoke the next morning to find that most of Gensokyo has been submerged in water.  They sky also looks rather strange now and has a crack in it, as if it was smashed with a hammer.  In the pond of your shrine, you have found a glowing bronze shard that you have reason to believe has something to do with this incident.  On top of solving all of this, you are also trying to figure out if something has happened to your memory, as you're having trouble remembering past incidents and events.
> You have flown to Kourindou and then to the Human Village to find that its surviving inhabitants have taken refuge on the Palaquin, and are currently looking for a safe place to dock.  You have also found the jiangshi Yoshika a distance away from the now-underwater village, and have left her with the Palaquin while you go look for the hermit who controls her, Seiga.
> You have gone Underground to check on Satori and the others, and found that most of the water from the surface has leaked Underground.  While there, you ran into Koishi and obtained a second bronze shard.  You have employed the help of Suika to plug up the flooded reactor, and Yuugi and Okuu to drain the rest of the water.
> You have then flown to Youkai Mountain to confront Kanako, a suspect of the incident, only to find that she has disappeared due to a sudden drop in faith.  You also learn from Suwako that Sanae has been in a deep sleep for a while now.  When you encounter her at the Kochiya Shrine, you find her enveloped in a bronze glow that you think is related to the shards.  You have flown up to inspect the sky and, in one of the water bubbles, found a dolphin.  Upon trying to bring Kogasa and Sanae to the Underground in your sleeve, the Yin Yang Orb went out of control and attacked both of them.  You have concluded that it reacted mainly to Sanae, and for some reason sees her as a threat to your life.  You have considered the bronze glow around her to have something to do with it.
> You have since been able to bring the dolphin to the Underground, along with Kasen.  You have left both at the Palace: the dolphin in the flooded courtyard, and Kasen with Satori.  While you were at the Palace, you discovered Kasen unconscious in the same room as Sanae emitting the bronze glow.  When you woke her up, she reported to have a strange dream.
> You have then returned to the surface to take care of business there.  You have tried inspecting the crack in the sky to no avail, and then stopped by Myouren to inform Mokou of various places to dock.  You have stopped by the Forest of Magic, where you have agreed to investigate Alice?s house for a strange creature lurking in there.  You found it and beat it up, finding another shard in the process.  Afterwards, you took Alice to the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
> You found Kazami Yuuka causing trouble in the greenhouse, and took her outside for a danmaku duel (which you won).  She gave you a cryptic message involving a secret world and fringed orchids.  You then returned to the mansion to have Patchouli repair Koishi?s and Alice?s books.  You?ve also reunited with Marisa at last and calmed down Flandre, who had another one of the bronze shards.  Finally, you joined forces with Meiling to plug up the emergency exit of the nuclear reactor on the surface.  You?ve also learned that the Taoists? ghost was last seen heading towards the northern mountains.
> At the moment, you are Underground giving Satori a status report.

   > Your signature weapon.
   > You're the only one who can touch it without either burning yourself (human) or suffering excruciating pain (youkai).

> Broom
   > The shrine broom.  Shut up, Marisa.

   > You take these with you whenever you go underground, but you wouldn't dare use them on Suika.
> 1265μ
   > It's always a good idea to keep a some money on you.
> Silk Glove x1
   > A soft silk glove with lace on the cuff, clearly a glove of wealth and taste.  Belongs to Yakumo Yukari.
> 4/8 Shard
     > A mysterious bronze shard that gives off a warm glow.  What exactly is it, and where did it come from?  You have no idea.
> Tea Set x1
   > A tea set with red roses painted on it.  The packaging claims that any tea served with this set will have healing properties.  Currently has a large crack on it.

> x1 Roll of Bandages
     > To dress your wounds with.
> Directions to the Tunnel
     > Written directions to a tunnel outside the SDM premises.  Presumably leads underground.  These directions were given to you by Koakuma.
     > Leave the library through the cellar and keep going straight over the fence.  There's a big tree with a covered hole at the base of it, but that's not where you want to go.  Then just keep going straight through the forest for twenty or so minutes until you reach a big moss-covered rock.  After that, take a right and keep going until you've made it to a clearing.  The hole is usually concealed by some grasses but it shouldn't be too hard to find.
> Floriology: The Colorful Language
     > A small book about the language of flowers.  Belongs to Patchouli Knowledge.  You are currently borrowing it from her.

QUESTS:

> Find Seiga
   > You've discovered Yoshika floating around in the water missing a hat and an operational ofuda.  Better get Seiga to go collect her.

> Take it to the Bridge
     > The reactor is flooded, and the only way to drain it is by blocking off the emergency exit from the surface.  You don't know where the emergency exit lets out, but according to Satori, the bridge princess does.  After you get that information from her, you'll be able to seek out the entrance from above ground.
     > Received from Koakuma directions to an alleged entrance underground: through the cellar and straight over the fence to a big tree with a covered hole. Go straight through the forest for twenty or so minutes until we reach a moss-covered rock, then go right until we hit a clearing where a big hole is covered with grasses.

> Waterproof, foolproof
     > Paper isn't waterproof.  By extension, neither are spellcards.  You'd like to find some way to remedy this.

> "Have you found Jesus?"
   > Several important folks around Gensokyo are missing or out of commission. Find out what's what.
      > Yukari: Gone, last seen during the slumber party at the Hakurei Shrine.
      > Kanako: Went poof due to faith reasons.
      > Sanae: In a coma and ticking off orbs something fierce. Currently being looked at by Satori.

> "Yukari kick a hole in the sky"
  > The sky is cracking and there's orbs of water floating about. The tears in the Border are a bit freaky, so we might want to prepare for something.

> "Insert witty name here involving bronze and shells and stuff"
  > Mysterious bronze fragments that impart the Glow are scattered across Gensokyo. Gather them and see what's what. Four pieces currently collected.

> Little Sisters Unite
   > Flandre could use a friend from outside of the mansion. See if Koishi's interested in meeting with Flandre.

We could ask Satori if she's had a chance to study Sanae in-depth, since that was the reason we brought Sanae down here.

So. Who's better to ask about lucid dreaming, Kasen or Koishi?

I have a bit more faith in the former, myself.

> Satori seems content to stay in the garden, so you go back inside by yourself.  Orin has moved on to cleaning some other part of the house, as you are alone in walking across the room and up the stairs.  When you've reached the final step, you see a fluffy grey cat lounging at the top of the stairs.
