Well actually people have been revamping the character profiles to separate the "Fun Facts" section into a game-related Trivia section and a fan-based Fandom section. Unfortunately most of the pages haven't been edited yet.

As for the existence of fandom cruft on the wiki, where else is the isolated Touhou fan supposed to find out what SuppaTenko is?  :V

And yes, it would be really nice if the print work articles were a little more prominent. It's too bad a lot of them haven't been summarized onto the character pages yet, because not every casual browser is going to go and read the actual article.

Edit: You guys realize that you can edit the wiki too, right?  ::) Fix up the articles if you can find the time!

Well, actually Suppa Tenko was some stupid meme that the people on 2ch came out with and has stuck on to Ran (Just because she was the poor victim of random AA nudity)
So it wouldn't be quite right to say that the spell card was the reason to her exhibitionist interpretation.
Since it's quite old, quite random, and since people -especially Ran fans- aren't quite fond of it, I think people are free to forget about thejoke.jpg

I uh... didn't say the card is the reason of saying she's an exhibitionist, I'm pointing out it reminds you on that fan-crafted thing. That's it.

As for the existence of fandom cruft on the wiki, where else is the isolated Touhou fan supposed to find out what SuppaTenko is?  :V

I used Google for that as first when I heard about this meme and didn't know what's it all about. It took some time though to get it  :V

You find out "what" the memes are fairly easily. It's how they started/spread that is the entire point. Going "lol in fan depictions character X does Y" is pretty moot because if it happens enough to be mentioned then people are already going to know about it. It's like going to TVTropes to confirm that your favorite show indeed uses a bunch of archetypes you already knew it used.

Also I like to complain about the fandom but not actually do anything about it. I could probably edit the wiki but I'm too lazy to actually do anything substantial about its current state, it's just too big. I'd also have to redo the character pronunciations as well, those are pretty damn old.

Mima obviously has a grudge against the Hakurei clan, but she never quite specifies about what. Maybe one of Reimu's ancestors was responsible for her death?

Hello everyone, I haven't made a formal intro to the board yet... but well, anyways:

I've read in some places  saying that Eirin is older than humanity itself. How can that be though? It's mentioned that Eirin was a Lunarian, but they also said that Lunarians were once humans and branched off to the moon later. How can she be older than humanity if Lunarians themselves were not older than humanity?

Also, is Eirin usually regarded more as a Physician, a doctor that actually directly treats people? Or is she more of a Researcher that only tries to develop new medicine instead of directly working with the sick?

Eirin was one of the people who helped found the Lunar Capital with Tsukuyomi. Even if she's "human", she's older than Gensokyo at the very least. Lunarians don't die of natural causes, so along the way the line between human and Lunarian (if there even was one at all) was lost. You can't really tell.

Eirin may be an evolved human, or a complete different race before humanity (as far as Touhou concerns, youkai and gods have the human body appearance). The only fact we knew about her is that she's super old, much older than Yukari. Also, she helped found the Lunar Capital, so there is a possibility that she was the one made Lunarians to be as they are now.

About her job... well I think she can probably do anything. A master of all trades. However, if I was her I wouldn't treat patients directly, will save it for Reisen later. :P

Do Seeds of Non-Identification only mask an object's appearance?

For example, if something made a distinctive sound, could a Seed of Non-Identification make it sound like something else, or not?

Could? You never know. What you do know is that Nue can still giggle while in indistinguishable orb form.

I believe not, since the definitions are all about visual. But there is always possibilities. Because the "form" is already varied depending on who's seeing them, it's possible to have the sound that the viewer believes it to have. It's like an illusion of some sort...

I believe they can. I mean the UFOs all have a distinct sound. I don't think a piece of wood would sound like that.

What's the deal with ex-Rumia? I mean, I know what's it about but where did it came from and is there any at least slight hint it might be real?

It's a fan-theory made from her profile in EoSD.

I guess people speculated that the charm is there for sealing her true powers or something along those lines.

Every game character in Touhou is female, except the turtle and the cloud.  The turtle's a turtle so no one cares about it, and clouds have no reproductive organs so it's technically genderless.

I said "game characters".  I don't consider Youki a character either, since he's never made even a single appearance in the entire series.  He's a minor subplot element who's barely mentioned in Youmu's character profiles.

Oh, I never questioned Rinnosuke's importance.  All I did was make a distinction between "characters that appear in games" and "characters that only appear in side works".  Youki's neither, so he's even less than an inanimate prop.

I didn't know Momiji had a profile.
I only checked the Double Spoiler comments, and they didn't mention anything about the gender.
The profile does mention the gender, though.
Too bad, it would have been more fun if the profile didn't say anything about the gender.
