Initial Plot:
It was a strange day when the Idiocy began to spread.
Most passed by unharmed, witnesses to the catastrophe. Some were affected mildly, becoming Idiot Princesses; some were sensitive to it, becoming Idiot Maidens and gaining considerable power at the cost of most of their intelligence.
Then there are those who are more sensitive still. These three chosen ones are collectively known as the Idiot Deities, the most powerful of all affected by the Idiocy. Unfortunately, as a result, they all have one-track minds and are somewhat lacking in brainpower.
So begins the tale of possibly heroes and possibly villains...

Upon hearing of Nwbi's defeat, Tenshi (the resident masochist) proceeds to seek out the deity and challenge them to a fight. He loses, but he enjoys it.

Power: Manipulation of Grazing
BGM [Barely Out Of Reach - Cutting Close]
The deity stumbles upon a strange temple built into a nearby mountain, which Tenshi crashed into. There Baity appears, and warns them that they aren't welcome after taking down two of the maidens. The protagonist, naturally, doesn't care and proceeds to beat Baity up. His last quote before the end of the stage is 'Just don't interrupt him...he's been waiting years for this.'

BGM [High-Speed Throttle Ride]
Mid-boss: Tenshi, back for one more beating.
Boss: Vic Viper
Power: Manipulation of Machinery
BGM [Battle with the Legendary Ship ~ Shoot The Core!]
Entering the temple, the deity comes across Tenshi, who promptly rises up and challenges them to one last fight. Continuing on, they come across Vic Viper, who insists that they are interfering on the Maidens' affairs and need to leave. The Deity senses that this is where the Idiocy started, and challenges Vic for an explanation. A fight ensues, and as Vic is defeated he states that the Idiocy literally drains the intelligence from its victims. He refuses to explain why.

Boss: Anonymous Fairy

Entering further, the deities come across the right-hand man, AF, and his assistant UK. After another hard-fought batte, AF admits that the Idiocy is designed to collect intelligence for the sake of reviving a forgotten soul by granting her a personality. The only clue as to the target's identity is 'someone who should have made it but didn't'.

The mastermind behind the entire incident turns out to be Theorist, collecting intelligence to revive the forgotten Rin Satsuki. This would normally be where a debate takes place as to whether Theorist's choice was right, but the deities aren't very clever and just beat him up anyway.

The deities realise that Theorist didn't create the Idiocy himself, he simply awakened it, and thus it intends to restore Rin itself. After defeating the Moderators it created for self defense, the deities fight against the Idiocy in its human form, by far the most powerful foe they've faced yet.

Also, my single spellcard will be titled, "Easy Acoustic [Passionate Rhythm]." Jan's guitar will repeatedly fire six MoF/SA lasers at the player, with them aimed so that the player is between the 3rd and 4th beam, while Jan fires some aimed bursts. However, the danger of the card comes from some Yukkuri who have come to help after hearing Jan's tunes from the nonspell barrage (acting like the summons from IN, so they can be bypassed by focusing). Yukkureimus fire small burst of amulet-bullets and drop Power items, while Yukkurisas fire small star-bullet bursts and drop Point items upon destruction.
On Lunatic, the lasers are closer together, and the Yukkuri fire a bit more Danmaku and are a little harder to destroy.
Now, I need to come up with a nonspell, and maybe throw in a Last Word...

Initial Plot:
It was a strange day when the Idiocy began to spread.
Most passed by unharmed, witnesses to the catastrophe. Some were affected mildly, becoming Idiot Princesses; some were sensitive to it, becoming Idiot Maidens and gaining considerable power at the cost of most of their intelligence.
Then there are those who are more sensitive still. These three chosen ones are collectively known as the Idiot Deities, the most powerful of all affected by the Idiocy. Unfortunately, as a result, they all have one-track minds and are somewhat lacking in brainpower.
So begins the tale of possibly heroes and possibly villains...

Mid-boss: Jan-san

Thinking that they're in a Touhou game, the first thing each of the Deities does is immediately attack anyone close by. The first victim of this is Nwbi, who swears that the other maidens will avenge him.
Stage 2
BGM [Rising To Heaven]
Boss: Tenshi
Power: Manipulation of Pain
BGM [A Pleasing Agony ~ Wonderful Torture]
Upon hearing of Nwbi's defeat, Tenshi (the resident masochist) proceeds to seek out the deity and challenge them to a fight. He loses, but he enjoys it.
Stage 3
BGM [Entering the Foolish Grounds]
Boss: BaitySM
Power: Manipulation of Grazing
BGM [Barely Out Of Reach - Cutting Close]
The deity stumbles upon a strange temple built into a nearby mountain, which Tenshi crashed into. There Baity appears, and warns them that they aren't welcome after taking down two of the maidens. The protagonist, naturally, doesn't care and proceeds to beat Baity up. His last quote before the end of the stage is 'Just don't interrupt him...he's been waiting years for this.'
Stage 4
BGM [High-Speed Throttle Ride]
Mid-boss: Tenshi, back for one more beating.
Boss: Vic Viper
Power: Manipulation of Machinery
BGM [Battle with the Legendary Ship ~ Shoot The Core!]
Entering the temple, the deity comes across Tenshi, who promptly rises up and challenges them to one last fight. Continuing on, they come across Vic Viper, who insists that they are interfering on the Maidens' affairs and need to leave. The Deity senses that this is where the Idiocy started, and challenges Vic for an explanation. A fight ensues, and as Vic is defeated he states that the Idiocy literally drains the intelligence from its victims. He refuses to explain why.
Stage 5
BGM [A Dark, Forgotten Corner]
Mid-Boss: UncertainKitten
Power: Manipulation of arousal
Boss: Anonymous Fairy
Power: Manipulation of fetishes
BGM [What I'm Into ~ Secret Desire]
Entering further, the deities come across the right-hand man, AF, and his assistant UK. After another hard-fought batte, AF admits that the Idiocy is designed to collect intelligence for the sake of reviving a forgotten soul by granting her a personality. The only clue as to the target's identity is 'someone who should have made it but didn't'.
Final Stage
BGM [Faded Dreams]
Final Boss: Theorist
Power: Manipulation of the forgotten
BGM [Collapsing Memory ~ Disregarded Grudge]
Last Attack BGM [Collapsing Mind ~ Overwhelming Vengeance]
The mastermind behind the entire incident turns out to be Theorist, collecting intelligence to revive the forgotten Rin Satsuki. This would normally be where a debate takes place as to whether Theorist's choice was right, but the deities aren't very clever and just beat him up anyway.

A young boy who may have been affected by the Idiocy even more than the deities themselves, his hilarious art proves to be a nightmarish challenge to the player.

Just when the disaster appears to be dying down, the Idiocy reappears with a mind of its own, intent on completing the ritual. The deities realise that Theorist didn't create the Idiocy himself, he simply awakened it, and thus it intends to restore Rin itself. After defeating the Moderators it created for self defense, the deities fight against the Idiocy in its human form, by far the most powerful foe they've faced yet.

This has suddenly been brought to my attention.
I'm on board for the music team.
Also, I've been talking to Rou and randomly mapped out the ideas for my spellcard on each difficulty:
Easy: 8 ropes, asterisk formation. And the whole configuration rotates (Think Shou without the meandering). Wax dripping danmaku falls from the ceiling. And we can't forget the random blasts of energy that would completely obliterate anything in one of the areas between two ropes, that you get about a second to dodge as the ropes quickly retract before I do that. ropes return after blast.
Normal: Same idea, except instead of the random energy blast, we have whip lasers. It's kinda squiggly and makes a whip cracking noise as it courses through. It also goes through all 8 zones, and the rope doesn't disappear. More wax dripping occurs.
Hard: And now for something completely different. Think Kanako, except with squiggly whip lasers dropping from the top as opposed to those bar lasers. You know, they move inward and such. There will also be wax drippings of course, and also guided dildo danmaku. that chases you.
Lunatic: Also completely different. I go Reisen on you with screen covered in bullets and you only having a tiny box to stay in. Except it uses chains, and the bullets don't move. More guided dildos and wax dripping. Every so often the chains reset by rapidly pulling away and then re-entering in a different configuration. If I'm a really bastardly midboss we could have chains appear in sets, like the first set of chains, than a layer on top of it, then a layer on top giving you a rather small room to manuever. But the reset time would have to be quicker so you could dodge guided bullets.
So, those are my spell card ideas :S.

2. Drake forwarded me some experimental soundfont from 2ch which basically turns MIDIs into ZUN music, which I run with Synthfont. It's possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. ;_;

However, I'm not really diggin' the white slacks (case in point (http://safebooru.donmai.us/post/show/514903)), so a skirt (and of course, the corresponding zettai ryouiki) would be awesome.

I could swear in the beginning I thought this thread was just another typical " Cirno thread ". The title did made me wonder a few times, but I never bothered reading it. Yeah. Everyone was expecting Hina-level stuff, and suddenly there was a stage 2 boss running after you with bullets. Didn't last long, once people figured out how to actually beat it. Funny in retrospect, though.

Oh, I drew this just for the fun of it. If you notice, Slaves and Zengar were made smaller than this, and it was a deliberate move. This was made larger than the paper that I use because I don't intend to finish it.

Giving the mid-bosses a title should be fine because you're pretty much a part of the story as the bosses are.
Serious post time. Rou, as I said, a circle would be a great idea and the thought of a fairly bigger audience is refreshing, but I might not be that committed in the future. I have a disturbing tendency to grab interest in something and drop it later on. I hope at the very least I can finish the soundtrack and maybe a few tracks for AD (which is actually a great idea; when's the next one released?). Hopefully, I'll keep making music in the future because hell this is some great stuff and we'll obviously just keep getting better. The likeliness that my interest in music dies is little to none because I play piano and just being plain interested; but I'm just saying my long-term attention span is ridiculously unstable because humbleness aside, I'm talented at too many things for my own good.

You do know that falls under danmaku scripting aswell. Except 3D background making is something extremely hard to do. It is beyond my knowledge aswell currently ( I never attempted it yet )
The most time consuming for me always with creating bosses are the sprites and images. And I am not only talking about the boss and cutin/portraits. Also talking about spellcard background as these mostly give the true sense of a spellcard battle. Spellcard backgrounds are seriously the cherry one of the base elements which fits the "boss".
Also if this seriously is going to be made you also have to think about whether to use a standard template for the boss sprites or not. Unlike ZUN who uses different image proportions it would be quite handy to stick with a template.
Much to discuss as you can see.

I was just kind of thinking that the dialogue for each character would be decided by, you know, them. It gives everyone a chance to do something with the project, it's not that much work to just write one scenario and it lets everyone be themselves rather than a representation of what other people have them act as. The bosses would have their dialogue or whatever, people proofread and such, then the character's dialogue is added. Alternatively you could get together on IRC and do both characters at the same time.

A small room in an abandoned temple, filled with ancient forgotten texts.
This was what he called his home.
It had started out as an interest, and advanced hastily into obsession - it was little more than a few bytes of coding, but it had quickly grown to mean more to him than anything else. He saw it as a poor, unfortunate soul desperately trying to break free, cut short without ever being given the chance to exist.
Where is the justice in that?
He designed her based on what little knowledge he had of her. He gave her a face, a body, an outfit, a personality. In his mind, Rin Satsuki was very much real, but taking that and turning it into a reality was harder than he could possibly have dreamed. He studied necromancy, but no spell existed within that could resurrect someone who had never lived.
For a while, he sank into despair, thinking his efforts were hopeless. He would cry himself to sleep, still grasping a book in his hand, desperately looking for the one clue that would bring her to him. They would be together, the two of them, perfectly happy with one another...that was his dream.
Then finally, he found his answer.
"YES! THIS IS IT!"
He held the book up to the heavens, as if screaming to the gods 'See what I'VE managed to find!'. The words written on those pages imprinted themselves into his mind, and even now he could quote them by heart with his eyes closed.
It's working. It's working perfectly...
The Idiocy was doing its job, collecting the intelligence of those around it. Such a power was enough to give form even to a person who exists in the mind only. He was giving Rin Satsuki a soul and body of her own - giving her a chance to truly live, a chance she'd been denied so many years ago.
Perhaps he'd lost something to the endeavour. Maybe he, too, was subject to the Idiocy's touch, but he didn't care about that. It wouldn't kill him, and it would bring her revival that much sooner. He held onto a drawing he had made of her, stroking his hands across the paper, waiting for the day when he would be able to hold her for real.

I rather like the sarashi on Vic's picture. It's also nice to see her coat in the proper pirate position.
Gpop has a nice mini-Koishi hat, and the swirl near the bottom of her dress reminds me of Hina's curse character for some reason.
Anyway, don't worry too much about the pose, A-F. If you want to simplify things for yourself, just holding the instrument while standing around is good enough... Don't stress out over a favor! And thanks in advance!

I know you can play songs with a single bass guitar (plenty of people can still turn it into a godly instrument) or play the melody in bass style. But it is more like hanging towards the Jazz and Blues or Soul catagories. That is why I wondered.

Music is music. But I was just questioning the "fills your heart with music" line. As a bass alone is to my ears not. There are some superb bass solos out there but it is not the uhm. . . but never mind that. Hard to explain.

The source of my guitar avatar and text was from a blues guitar class I was taking last semester. I changed my avatar and text to Yuka Guitar in lieu of our final performance. Even if all I know about the guitar is a few blues chords to strum, it kinda stuck. Plus, the instrument Slaves originally drew Jan with was a four-stringed mandolin.
By the way... Confirming my new selfcest. You've made me a very happy man, Anon Fairy. The spiked mandolin came out looking great, and the pajama pants make me think of Patchouli too~ I kinda wonder what the glossy hair would look like colored too...
And, of course, Theorin is quite moe~ The poofy dress and hair ribbons remind of Hina again for some reason. I dunno, I guess I just have Hina on my mind or something? Her Tengu pom-pom belt is also quite cute.

Incorrect because Tenshi doesn't have a Boss Theme yet and Baity still have absolutely nothing regarding his position in the game.
Stage 1, aside from missing sprites, is also missing dialogues and Danmaku.
Speaking of which, the PC's don't have finished shot types and bombs yet, and I'm sure that they haven't decided on dialogues for each of the shot types.
Just pointing out how far we are on this. :P

As for the bad news, I've got no idea where I'm going with Tenshi's theme. Just drawing a blank right now.
Maybe Drake and I should try reversing roles or something - he comes up with a melody, and I throw on a bassline/percussion afterward. It'd liven things up, and it'd mean that Drake could come up with song ideas without being held to what I've already put down for a change.
tl;dr - Drake, do you have any ideas what to do for Tenshi? Because I don't. -_-

As for the project leader, I don't think this project really have one yet. The closest we can get being Rou, who did the plot, story, characters, and music. But yeah, we're still not organized enough to have a leader who ensures this project is going on track.

Music changes to some sort of sweeping orchestral tune (Because every cataclysm needs orchestral music to make it even more obnoxiously threatening, yanno). Meteors come crashing down from the heavens in an attempt to annihilate the player. Once they reach the bottom of the screen they'll explode into smaller pieces and go all over the places, thus making staying at the bottom a profoundly terrible mistake.
Now which one of these would make for a better Last Word if we were to indeed include Last Words for those who didn't make it? >_>

If you change the title to Touhou Ijiyatsu you can write it 東方意地奴
意地 (iji) means obstancancy, willpower or backbone
奴 (yatsu) means something like guy, basically a pronoun for a familiar person or an insult
And most idiots are usually pretty stubborn in their idiocy so I imagine this works. :V

I'm pretty sure "Ijiatsu" was just a Japanification of "Idiot" but Japan has a lot of homonyms so it wasn't too bad working something into it. I was just reminded of "yatsu" and wondered if there was something fitting for the other syllables.

PS Arrows indicate shot direction, unless when they are attached to other arrows. That means rotation. The more arrow-things a certain line has on it indicates speed: the more there are, the faster it spins in that direction.

This has suddenly been brought to my attention.
I'm on board for the music team.
Also, I've been talking to Rou and randomly mapped out the ideas for my spellcard on each difficulty:
Easy: 8 ropes, asterisk formation. And the whole configuration rotates (Think Shou without the meandering). Wax dripping danmaku falls from the ceiling. And we can't forget the random blasts of energy that would completely obliterate anything in one of the areas between two ropes, that you get about a second to dodge as the ropes quickly retract before I do that. ropes return after blast.
Normal: Same idea, except instead of the random energy blast, we have whip lasers. It's kinda squiggly and makes a whip cracking noise as it courses through. It also goes through all 8 zones, and the rope doesn't disappear. More wax dripping occurs.
Hard: And now for something completely different. Think Kanako, except with squiggly whip lasers dropping from the top as opposed to those bar lasers. You know, they move inward and such. There will also be wax drippings of course, and also guided dildo danmaku. that chases you.
Lunatic: Also completely different. I go Reisen on you with screen covered in bullets and you only having a tiny box to stay in. Except it uses chains, and the bullets don't move. More guided dildos and wax dripping. Every so often the chains reset by rapidly pulling away and then re-entering in a different configuration. If I'm a really bastardly midboss we could have chains appear in sets, like the first set of chains, than a layer on top of it, then a layer on top giving you a rather small room to manuever. But the reset time would have to be quicker so you could dodge guided bullets.
So, those are my spell card ideas :S.

Centered around the caster there are sixteen shooting-point-thingies (I don't know what you call them) arranged in 4 concentric circles (call them tiers). 1st and 3rd go counterclockwise, and 2nd and 4th go clockwise. The shot-mounts each shoot out a stream of little danmaku in a straight line, but the direction they are aimed at rotates rapidly in the opposite direction of their tier's rotation. There are catches.
1: The caster can move.
2: Once every so often, the caster shoots out 4 (what I call) Fireworks at 90 degree angles in seemingly random directions.
Now what is a Firework (http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/2646/danmakufufirework.jpg)?
It's a rapidly expanding shot that ends up into either 96, 192, or 384 shots in 5 seconds.
Lastly, this thing right here (http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/4481/danmakufutemple.jpg), which is in starting position.
Around the caster are 32 shot-mounts arranged into 4 tiers. 1st and 3rd go counterclockwise, and 2nd and 4th go clockwise. Each shot-mount rotates in place while spamming little danmaku. However, each tier set (clockwise vs counter) gets their very own annoying little specialty. They take turns firing.
Counterclockwise: Each shot-mount on the 1st and 3rd tiers fires a 1-second slightly-less-than-tracking beem every 10 seconds or so. Also, they fire large danmaku in a line parallel to the caster during this time.
Clockwise: Each shot-mount on the 2nd and 4th tiers fires a 2-second stream of small danmaku every 10 seconds or so. Also, they fire a beam which goes to the end of the screen in a line parallel to the caster during this time.

Standard Shot: [Grand Swipe]
A weak, curve-shaped danmaku fired rapidly. Upgrades lead to a wide firing range including diagonals. Think Sakuya.
Spellcard: [Sword That Cleaves Evil]
A long Zengar-centered laser sword annihilates anything it touches in a full 360 degrees. Time to cast = 2 seconds.
Zengar B
Standard Shot: [Blade of Truth]
An overpowered single-shot danmaku that accelerates in a straight line. Upgrades lead to more blades, but they still only travel in a straight line.
Spellcard: [One Shot Soul Strike]
Zengar becomes invincible for a little bit while charging a shot. When fired, the shot travels straight up the screen accompanied with two laser-things trailing diagonally (but slowly spread out) which destroy everything they touch until they disappear at the top of the screen. Time to cast = 3 seconds.
Gpop, I can't think of anything for you except that the [Freud Was Right] spellcard needs a pentagram and baby heads.
Rou A
Standard Shot: [Experimental Laser]
Rou fires a lot of weak but high-speed danmaku. Upgrades give all sorts of straight and diagonal lasers.
Spellcard: [Super Youkai Warhead]
Rou fires a single danmaku directly in front of him. It travels for 1 second then detonates, annihilating everything within a large radius. Time to cast = 1.5 seconds.
Rou B
Standard Shot: [Inaba Amulets]
Self-explanatory. Upgrades lead to more powerful shots with a blast radius.
Spellcard: [Concentrated Mindhax]
Everything within an average radius of Rou is instantly purged. 7 spell circles start off some distance from Rou and spiral inwards, killing any danmaku in their path, until they hit him. They then fly off in a straight line, taking out more danmaku. Time to cast = 3 seconds.

Now, this'll take some 'splainin'.
There are some effects that are constant throughout the entire spellcard. They are marked, but probably unintelligible.
1. Time is unlimited (or at least very very long).
2. The more the caster is attacked, the more some special effects will come into play.
3. The entire screen is patrolled by 10 shot-mounts moving along the edges. They fire a bunch of tiny random shots into the middle while making sure everything outside their borders is instantly destroyed. Don't underestimate them, they move pretty fast. Special Effect: They spam more fire and move in closer.
4. The caster is on random patrol. They will go anywhere they damn please except to the bottom of the screen.
The spellcard itself cycles through 4 stages; each cycle lasts 27 seconds. Special Effect: Stages 2 and 3 increase/decrease at the same rate.
Stage 1: from 0 to 7 seconds.
The set-up is as described above, except that there is a single Firework in the center, which detonates after 3 seconds.
Stage 2: from 7 to 14 seconds.
Centered around the target are 6 stationary (positioned where the target was at 7 seconds) shot-mounts projecting large laser-things on lines parallel to the shot-mount on the opposite side. They close in counter-clockwise. DO NOT try and stray outside their confinement, as they are very long and will be providing massive amounts of fire on their right sides. They will stop when they hit Stage 3. Special Effect: This stage is shortened, meaning that the laser-things will close in a shorter amount of time.
Stage 3: from 14 to 25 seconds.
The laser-things have confined the target in a small hexagram, where they must dodge fire from the border-patrol shot-mounts. IF FOR ANY REASON you are not within the hexagram, you are or will soon be dead. Special Effect: The hexagram becomes smaller, and the stage is extended: you will be dodging more fire for longer within a smaller space.
Stage 4: from 25 to 27 seconds.
The laser-things and their shot-mounts disappear. However, in their place are 3 tiers of 12 shot-mounts surrounding the target and armed with not-quite-tracking 1-second streams of danmaku. You have around .5 seconds to GTFO before the first (innermost) tier opens fire, followed by the second tier .5 seconds after (and readjusted to your new position), followed by the third tier in the same manner. The 3 spots where each tier's fire completely intersects spawns a Firework, which will detonate after 3 seconds following its birth. Special Effect: The shot-mounts are upgraded to 1-second beams and another tier is added (along with another Firework).
The cycle then goes back to Stage 1, except there is no opening Firework. Special Effect: The last half of this statement becomes a lie.
