I think I've heard it say:

"I refuse your newspaper invitation!" but it doesn't specify if it means an interview or a subscription.

Personally, I would think "I don't want your newspaper!" would fit fine if someone wanted to edit it.

Rather, I don't see much of any difference between her manner of speech and Aya's, at least from what I saw on the wiki. Perhaps she sounds a bit younger than Aya, but nothing to the extent that requires the "like" interjection.

I really do not see the big deal about the translation. After reading all the spellcards dialogue, it really doesn't sound so bad that you could spend the whole day obsessing over it.

NForza has translated a ton of stuff on the Wiki. Tons, even. I'll throw in my trust with him to do a decent job, but moreover, I just don't think it's worth getting that upset about. I can appreciate being protective and vigilant of the language or whatever, but this argument has long crossed the point of silly.

Just my humble $0.02 worth.

the problem here is that the opinion that "this sounds better" is trying to beat "this is correct" and for whatever reason the former is somehow winning, by referring to the latter as "weirdos" or simply saying "this is getting silly"

this often happens whenever a real argument gets underway, as in one that doesn't devolve into a complete flamewar or isn't filled with a bunch of scientific nonsense

mind you, there is a huge difference between replacing "shogun" with "emperor" or some such in a game that clearly does not look Japanese, and then assuming that a very Japanese character would ever speak like an American, whatsoever. THAT is common sense.

Yeah, see, that's just it. I don't have a dog in this fight. Whether Hatate uses frequent "likes" or not, I'm a little weary of the entire back and forth passive-aggressive sniping that's been going on between NForza and Nobu in this thread and others. They're not going to convince each other, the jabs aren't effecting the translations, so at this point, it's just griping that won't die. That's the part that's silly, to me anyway.

I understand the POVs of both sides of this argument, and if they feel the need to slug it out on the wiki, great.

She does have "analogous" speech patterns in the Japanese. She talks with something like a Nagoya-teenager accent, which is almost invariably translated as valley girl.

um, no it's not? you can't translate Japanese into an English dialect very well!
