I met dad today again.

Not only he took my proposal of going to Otakon totally seriously, but he's also using it against my brother, to put pressure on him and force him into making his mind already on what to do in Freedom Land.

Guess it's on, guise BV

Baltimore doesn't need the help of anyone from the outside to be plagued.

I wanna try and visit this Otakon thing, but I have no clue on where to begin. It was easier going to Tekkoshocon since I was close enough, but I don't live in Baltimore. ^^;

Well you're low on cash and you're driving yourself. You can do what I did my first couple Otakons and stay in Cantonsville. It's a stones throw away from Baltimore and you're not paying an arm and a leg for a hotel room. If you go with friends it ends up being cheaper too.  The only problem we had with that is we all had to decide when we would leave the con so if the majority of your group wants to leave at 10pm then you don't get to rave or opposite, if your friends want to rave you're stuck watching Japanese gore flicks until they're done.

I think you mean Catonsville, which is on the southwest side of Baltimore.

I assume you're in the Pittsburgh area.  You'll probably want to find a hotel that's right downtown, especially one that has parking.  Downtown Baltimore has very little parking available that won't cost an arm and a leg.  If you do stay elsewhere, try to keep it roughly due-north or south of downtown (like Towson).  That way you can make use of the lightrail to get to and from the con, which is a major stop on it.  Inquire with the hotel, they'll know if they're close to it.  Also, if you plan to fly here, the lightrail also runs down to the airport (BWI).

If you're definitely sure you're going to come, you'll want to preregister beforehand, because at-con registration lines can get pretty long.

Outside of that, I think it's about a 4-5 hour drive from Pittsburgh to here (I-70/PA Turnpike), so it shouldn't be too bad of a drive.

yeah Catonsville  :derp: I'm more of a NoVA/DC guy  anyway. But yeah like Momiji said pre-reg if you can. The at-con line can be twice to three times as long on friday as the pre-reg line. Although the Pre-reg line is pretty ridiculous too.

I was debating about just sticking with a Greyhound bus. It doesn't seem like I'll have access to a car for the trip, plus I'm not sure if the flights would be too much. I'll have to look into the hotels, I thought it was just downtown or bust, glad it's different. :)

Right now, it looks like I might wind up doing this whole thing solo, dunno if that's a good thing or not. :/

There's two bus stations here, one on the east side of the city (the Travel Plaza), and one downtown just south of the stadiums.  If you do go by bus, don't go to the Travel Plaza.

The MARC's Camden Line runs between Union Station in DC, and Camden Yards in Baltimore.

Amtrak has trains that leave more often and run on Sundays, but I'll probably take the MARC up if I can grab a ticket.  An early Amtrak is only $11 to Baltimore though, while a MARC is $7, so the price isn't an issue.

Still, parking at Union Station is $20 a day and I'd have to leave here at really early to make it there for a morning train, maybe I'll just drive all the way up there?

Doesn't the Sheraton have parking?

Yeah, but it still requires driving to/in Baltimore, plus parking at hotels in cities tends to be more expensive, like ~$30 or so a night.  I'll call and ask though

Getting to the hotel is actually insanely easy (I-95 North, get off at 395 in Baltimore, stay right at the convention center).  Driving around DC is probably the last thing you want to do, although probably a cooler place to hang out post-con than Baltimore.

Parking at the hotel is $22 a night and I won't be able to park there until check in, so I'll be puttering around the city for 7 hours.

I WOULD post my Yumemi cross to show that I am working on my *ahem* crossplay like a good boy, but all I have is a cell phone pic and 1. Bitpim needs an update for my cell. 2. SyncCell has no idea what it's trying to do. 3. Verizon Wireless is RITAHDED.

Oh, and hopefully my buddies and I will get out a bit more to form our patented AB-style Crossdresser Restaurant  Rush. Good times had by all except the restaurant clientele and personnel.
Baltimore also has Obrycki's so I'll forgive it.
It's been 3 years since I've been able to go to the Cape in Massachusettsland and I'm so rarely afforded the opportunity for seafood in general. I'll certainly keep my options open.

Oh hey sup cosplay progress buddy I just bought my Reisen jacket and tie today...
...ok so it's a black blazer (to match navy socks and brown shoes  :V) apparently I'm "petite" according to the clothing at Goodwill/Salvation Army and because no one ever donates their skinny clothes just their "fat clothes" that was the best I can do for a jacket that wouldn't go longer than my skirt :ohdear:

I'm going to knock out the skirt this week then all I have to do is wait for the wig!
Miria (Baccano!) has to get done before June 18th, and lolByakuren I have no idea when that's starting.
