YES, OH YES

Well, that's how it goes with defensive football. Do it well and you're great, but make a single mistake and suddenly you're down. Ironic, considering all the godawful errors made by Germany today, but you gotta capitalize on those errors.

Germany deserved that win, Messi wasn't running.

It also didn't help that Di Maria was still gone, one of Argentina's best forwards. Instead we had Higuain who, once again, played shitty.

Glad I could finally watch Germany win a World Cup. Exciting game, fireworks have been launched already.

It says something that this was Argentina's best game in the WC - they didn't play badly, but it would've been annoying to see them take the cup.

Kind of sad after all those missed opportunities, but I'm satisfied.

So many times I thought Argentina were going to get ahead. I mean, two pure gifts were wasted; and their counter attacking was up there several times. But the Germans kept recovering; kept sticking in there. And Messi's last free kick was just, again, a waste.

Was a good game; but boy, I am pleased to see the destroyers of Brazil waking away with the very game they hosted. ^^

Argentina played fairly decently this time around aside from the gaffes, but the Germans definitely deserved the win. :toot:

What a tourney of surprises and interesting games!

Germany is also the first European team to win a World Cup based in South America. True grit.

Hey, look at that.

Thomas Mueller - 5 goals, three assists, World Cup winner
James Rodriguez - 6 goals, two assists, top goalscorer
Lionel Messi - 4 goals, one assist

Guess which one gets the best player of the tournament award. I really don't want to complain about Argentina too much (their defensive performance was excellent up until the goal), but what the heck is this supposed to be, a consolation prize? Second team in the world is still a great feat.

To be fair, I wouldn't mind if Mascherano was awarded. He was the foundation upon which Argentina's extremely efficient defensive game was set, but players like him are usually ignored when it comes to individual awards.

So much salt against Argentina, I see.

Though this is a small victory for Brazil because they were the ones who wanted Argentina out :V

True. :V

Good match. There's not much I can add after all of those posts, but now Germany is tied with Italy in number of gold trophies. Both have won a total of 4 world cups.

Brazil is still ahead with a total of 5 victories though. Let's see for how long we can keep this up.

As my final words: Congratulations Deutschland! You deserved it.

Choosing Messi isn't so absurd as you might think. For "Best player" they tend to favour players that reached the final so Rodr?guez, Robben and co. were already at a disadvantage.
And to be honest, if it wasn't for Messi Argentina wouldn't even have passed the group.... he wasn't often in the middle of the action but his goals were decisive almost every single time.

P.S. the fact that his team won the cup doesn't have any weight in favor of Mueller.... last time an actual champion won the "best player" award was in 1994 (Romario)  :V

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS GERMANY!!!

Germany did play well, but they committed too many faults against Argentina's team that were never caalled to account for me to feel totally satisfied. Too late to do anything about it now, though.

Honestly I think both team played bad. Germany made silly mistakes while Argentina made terrible misses with their chances. It wasn't as good as I hoped, but both teams would have deserved it either way.

Exactly. Alternately, most 'tweeted' player, most talked about in the press etc. It certainly has no bearing on his performance on the field.

Now that WC is over, I can finally get a normal sleep pattern again instead of sleeping every-time around 1-2am during weekdays.
