Hmm... I think we should at least try for Lord Tenma as the Shrine can be more easily accessible in the case that we can't learn to fly from him. Might as well try for the more difficult place first right? Plus there is always the potential for a nice bonus from either of these paths and the tougher one might yield a nicer reward. :3

Probably both routes might have Ran and Chen... and Yukari maybe, also Nitori said Lord Tenma, however... since Shrine is more likely to let us in, and might even help with Lord Tenma afterwords, it could be quite possible to learn flying from there, on top of other things, like... clawing Sanae along the way...
On the note which is more difficult.. I don't know.

Shrine would likely make us friends with Sanae and co, whilst Palace would make us more friendly with tengu in general...

As long as there arent too many OC's in this story that matter (as in 15 different tengu that are powerful) then the shrine it is. Plus gods know all, so they might know our powers.

~TUTORIAL CORNER~
In this world, you will be expected to defend yourself from those who wish to do you harm, I shall explain how you will go about doing so.
Each Enemy, as well as yourself, have varying stats. At the start of a battle with a foe you have not encountered before, all you will know about them is how much Energy they have.
(indicated by the percentages seen above)
As you grow more experienced in combat with a certain foe type, you will gradually learn more about that type.
For example, the three enemies you have been confronted by are White Kedama, the lowest of the low.
Essentially, they are to Youkai Quest, as Slimes are to Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest.
But the later varieties you will likely encounter are much stronger.
For example, Green Kedama have powerful Physical attacks, while Orange Kedama excel at Danmaku.
Red Kedama combine both of those into one unassumingly dangerous package.
Fairies are a cut above White Kedama, they're essentially the next step up from Kedama, expect to see many Kedama and Fairies blocking your path for no real reason other than they want to.
For now, focus on one foe at a time, and use your danmaku and physical attacks, you'll gain more combat abilities(such as spellcards) as you progress through the world of Youkai Quest.

Smaller Hitbox, higher Speed, lower Physical Attack, and locks the Danmaku command until you learn the skill that lets you use Danmaku in Cat Form.
As you are now, it's only good for dodging attacks.

~Tutorial Corner: Spellcards~
You've unlocked your first Spellcard!
Spellcards are powerful attacks beyond what you can normally do without them, but they have what's called a "Mana Cost".
Once your Mana Points, or MP as they're also called, are exhausted, you can't use any more Spellcards.
The Spellcard you have is labeled with a Mana Cost of 2 MP, so it's somewhat cheap as far as Spellcards go.
One way to regain them is to sleep, or eat a very filling meal.
There are ways to do so while in combat though, but it's a very dangerous proposition....Try using the Spellcard you just got in battle!
