Touhou Tournament - Week 2!

Here's the Touhou Tournament thread, the place to submit your scores for the tournament! For anyone new, this is essentially a bi-weekly competition in two Touhou games - one is scoring, and one is... something else. :V Remember, there are no pre-requisites here - it's open to people of any skill level, so don't be shy and submit a score! The general rules are as follows:

1. Any score contending for the #1 spot MUST have a replay (or screenshot for PC-98) of the score included. There must be less than 5% slowdown. Screenshots/replays are welcome no matter what your score is, however.
2. You MUST be using default settings unless specified otherwise. For most games, this is three lives total.
3. This thread is for score submission only (within reason). Keep most game discussion in the Touhou Tournament discussion thread (especially important since this thread will be purged for the next week).
4. If your score has already been added into the table, don't edit more scores into that post! It's likely that the score will be missed.

The deadline for submissions is 1PM (GMT) on Monday the 21st!

I assume Youmuko is fine as well right?  Considering Youmu is the unfocus shot anyway, it's basically the same thing.  My run had Youmu solo anyway, but for the people who didn't unlock it yet...

Not so fun for me. Raged a lot. Stage portion of 5th stage sucked so bad.

I barely can do a decent lunatic run at all. I cant make any precise movements on this piece of junk hardware w/o focus.

One death trying to hit the PoC on stage 5 T_T.  Finished with max though, so whatever.  There was a moment where I tapped shift by reflex near the start of 6b, but I wasn't moving at all when it happened.  Hopefully that's alright <_<.

Also, FFFFFFFF, failed Kaguya's last Last Spell with the timer at 0 T_T.

Nope, Youmu only - Nether team is a little different for scoring + deathbomb. I can provide a score.dat on request if any of you guys don't have it unlocked yet.

I kept asking myself if I wanted to submit the Hard score.  First, I don't like IN outside of Easy.  Second, I accidentally saved the replay over the Easy one which I was pretty happy about, picking up Hourai Elixir while shooting and staying above the POC.  Now I'm even more upset at this 1/1 run that'll be immortalized in the archives, but so many people submit their runs anyway.  Just leave it at that, do something else.  Or practice (nah).

Not having played much SA at all (except Extra) since my triumphant Normal 1cc, I decided the best place to start for this challenge would be a reckless charge into Hard mode, and- HOLY BAJEEGUS HOW DID I MAKE IT TO STAGE 4 ON MY FIRST TRY!?

There's like nearly two dozen people in this forum (including YOU) who are more than capable of clearing it.  Over a dozen for PCB Lunatic as well, but it's obvious there was a lack of interest.  So, are you interested enough to do a little practice and clear it?  Because I'm sure you got Hard on your first try without warming up.

Third clear ever, yay.  Happy to say Asteroid Belt was one of the few spells I was confident going into after doing a timeout ages ago, and this one was successful.  Probably the only spell on Lunatic I spent time in practice with past the bare capture.  Died immediately to Salamander Shield, I forgot how to do it vertically.

More like 6th try. I'm way out of practice on IN.

First try I told myself I wouldn't restart. Derp deathed by ramming a bullet during boss Wriggle, game over on Hourai Jewel.

The others I restarted due to stupid deaths on Stage 2 and 3.


Also, Xu Fu's Dimension in Extra. Stay on bottom, rammed by familiar. move up a little, rammed by familiar. Move up farther, I can't dodge the bullets since I then need to worry about the ones from below and above.

No miss, 2 bombs. Panic bombed dragon's necklace and failed the end of Imperishable Night -11 o' Clock at the very last second. orz

Just a basic clear. I didn't take any risks at stage 4. If I try to kill the large fairies the pro way, I'll probably get killed once or twice.

Well, I just basically doubled my score, without even getting all that much farther... but I probably could have tripled it again had I not totally self-destructed at the end there. *sigh* consistency really is my biggest obstacle to improvement.

I tapped to the music at the beginning for a second before realizing "oh wait, no focus", and I instinctively focused once to autocollect after dying during Marisa's nonspell #2 The first one doesn't matter at all and the seocnd one... well, I don't think it mattered THAT much so I kept playing.

First time using Youmu solo period. Funnily enough, this is my second highest score in my entire record, beaten only by a random normal 1cc by about 20m points.

The computer decided to lag for no reason when I was doing Astronomical Entombing, which resulted in that slow rate.

Man, I messed up this run something fierce. Two stupid deaths on stage 4, Invisible Full Moon kicked my ass, and Eirin is just plain harder than Kaguya. At least I somehow capped Apollo 13, which I never thought I would pull off.

Okay, SA next.  But I don't waaaant to graze stuff.  Five difficulties of grazing, grazing, grazing.  And effectively no-missing four of them.

If you're going with Marisa then I thought you would have picked the Patchouli pairing, scoring potential aside...actually, they're pretty close.  Both of them are still so-so to me, and I wonder if you did it for the lasers.  Who's in your challenge-picking committee?

Well, it's the next day over here.  I should go now because it's bad to sleep in.

What to say, what to say...not a very jolly run.  Finished on the first go, yes, but I was feeling paralyzed again.  Almost died here and there, didn't help with the stress.  Timed out stage five midboss Orin, oops.  Some orders of bombing I don't pay attention to.  Simplest solution: fuck it.

This doesn't bode well for Normal, but the fear of failure should dissipate after the first few restarts.  Until the run is almost finished then it pops up again, but I'm not taking any chances for Utsuho's first two spells.  Hell, I almost trashed that Easy run against the second one.

I really don't want to submit this.  The mistake during Keine probably cost me somewhere between 50M and 100M points or something, but I probably won't be able to beat this by the time the weekend rolls around.

Edit:  Nevermind, improved again, but I STILL messed up Keine.  The runs where I capture all three spells, I do so poorly.  Every run where I fail that last spell, I do amazing against Mokou.  Now I feel as if I won't be satisfied unless I get 2.2B.

One key miss (on Okuu) led to a SOUL CRUSHING 40/45 million blow to my endscore. 3 Misses in total (1 suicide, 2 failed deathbombs). Lots of CowardPointsTM. Either way, terrible performance that other prevalent mistake in the run probably cost a fair bit as well. ...maybe 2 credits isn't enough to solidify the route into my head.

- no score so far, until the deadline (can be improved, but as of now, the IN ones are pretty bad, and SA ones are even more clueless since I can't think of a grazing path or remember it during the playthrough, or die while trying to freestyle, which means lots of restarts)

- can someone please explain what's the hitboxes for stages 4, 5 and 6 of IN? Kaguya's colored bullets and lasers, Marisa's stars, stage 5's larger bullets.. they (except the latter) are limiting because they look too intimidating, due to fear of clipping them, and the latter got me killed once due to underestimating its hitbox

it's particularly important to know what the bullet hitboxes are, imho, so that I could die less and/or plan my bombs better (even dynamically), and the thought of getting in a worse situation due to not knowing the hitboxes (rather than recognizing when/where/why I died and how such situation could've been avoided) is frustrating. The latter stages wasted my efforts in IN, and the time spent to get to them, due to these deaths. Dunno if others have felt the same.

Nothing special going on with Normal.  Didn't want to die so performance took a dip during the last two stages.  There was a bit I wanted to do with the laser sections in stage four which you seem to need at least 6 power for, but the chance that I wasn't centered right and didn't successfully destroy the enemies before they dropped lasers straight down made me forget about it.  Hard was a total joke and I love it for that.  I'll start on it again in an hour or two and get a run that doesn't enter stage six with one spare life (which I suicided off for power).  Endstage Orin's second noncard should have been free points, but I'm not bothering.

Some procrastination.  I didn't begin (and finish) Normal until last night, and the same for that curious Hard run.  May skip out on Extra and move on to a cheap Lunatic clear.  I don't want to practice any routes so it should only yield something in the range of 1.5B.

Also, I still don't understand the correct sizes of the bullet hitboxes, so I guessed them. Was clueless on the other stages as usual, since I don't have a good memory to remember the stage enemies and there doesn't seem to be any guide about the stages.

SA made me restart a lot as usual, it feels a lot stricter than IN in that you must go to specific places to graze, everytime. Stray a bit from it and you die. (example, the first big fairies from stage 1, if you choose to stay near them for grazing)
